Is anyone NOT getting the vaccine?

JC2021 · 20/07/2021 19:53

Anyone on here choosing not to receive the covid-19 vaccine?

I am undecided, but resistant.

My reasons; you can still become infected and spread the virus. How sick you might become would depend on your immunity, your age/health.

So, in my mind the only good the vaccine 'may' do (no guarantees) is prevent you getting very ill. Although, even this is still not guaranteed.

So the vaccine may reduce the change of you becoming really ill.

Fully vaccinated people can still spread the virus unknowingly to others, the same as unvaccinated.

Post on the coronavirus topic
Plenty of discussions about the same issue

frozendaisy · 20/07/2021 19:54

Think the contribution to "not becoming very ill" was plenty of reason we are now double vaccinated.

But each to their own.

WASHI · 20/07/2021 19:54

🥱

frozendaisy · 20/07/2021 19:56

And if it's a relationship thing, wouldn't bother me either way if the Mr had chosen differently. But he didn't we went day after each other to piggy back in case of minor side effects as we still had children to feed and get to school.

EnjoyingTheSunshine · 20/07/2021 19:59

I'm getting it and I'm currently 7 weeks pregnant. I don't fancy getting a bad case of Covid, which would be a greater danger to me and my unborn child than the vaccination.

JassyRadlett · 20/07/2021 20:00

Fully vaccinated people can still spread the virus unknowingly to others, the same as unvaccinated.

This is technically true, however they do so at a much, much lower rate.

This is down to two factors: the vaccines protect the majority against infection, meaning zero risk of transmission from those people; and it cuts transmission from those who do get infected by around half.

Which is a pretty significant overall benefit. So no, no the only ‘good’ the vaccine can do isn’t limited to preventing serious illness. Who’s been telling you fibs?

BIWI · 20/07/2021 20:01

Why have you posted this in Relationships? Do you not know there's a Coronavirus board?

Dancingontheceiling1 · 20/07/2021 20:02

Because it works

Is anyone NOT getting the vaccine?

Can I move this topic to the Coronavirus board? How? :)

We've now moved this thread to the Coronavirus topic. Thanks.

Confused
Sadsiblingatsea · 20/07/2021 20:41

I’m 58 and I’m not taking it.
Too many people I know have had severe side effects. One of my neighbours died soon after. Too much risk for a virus that kills so few.
Check out the yellow card scheme.

Iknowtheanswer · 20/07/2021 20:43

I've just had covid. I am double jabbed. I honestly thought it was a slightly annoying cold.

My colleague, 25 years younger than me has covid. Single jab. She is very very unwell with it.

Repeat with everyone I know. Double jab, get a cold. No jab, or single jab, very unwell.

Are you serious?🤔I think you'll find Covid has killed one or two people.

Anyone on here choosing not to wear a seatbelt on car journeys?

I am undecided, but resistant.

My reasons; you can still be injured in a crash. How badly would depend on how fast you are going.

So, in my mind the only good a seat belt 'may' do (no guarantees) is prevent you getting very injured. Although, even this is still not guaranteed.

So a seat belt may reduce the change of you being really injured.

People who wear seat belts can still unintentionally crash and injure others, the same as people who do not.

@JesusInTheCabbageVan I can link you to a really good article on Facebook by a real car engineer who’ll prove that seat belts are not safe at all. I also know a neighbours, cousin, half uncle who was killed while wearing a seatbelt.

Only 4 million. I mean pfft, right?

And it does stop most spread, just not all. Same as literally every vaccine.

Innocenta · 20/07/2021 20:54

Fully vaccinated people who are much less ill will generally shed far less of the virus, which does reduce transmission, even though they are still a positive case.

There's no good reason not to have it, frankly, unless you personally have been directly told by your doctor that it's unsuitable for you.

Speaking as a CEV person.

Oysterbabe · 20/07/2021 20:55

It's your choice but your reasons make no sense.

Is anyone NOT getting the vaccine?
sherrystrull · 20/07/2021 20:57

Just have the vaccine.

JC2021 · 20/07/2021 21:00

I have suffered with blood clots before and required thinning medication

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 20/07/2021 21:00

@OhDear2200 there's lots about it on YouTube too.

I also feel really uncomfortable about all the pressure and judgement if I exercise my choice not to wear a seat belt.

SGChome20 · 20/07/2021 21:01

You’ll get a lot of ‘views’ that might align with yours. Either vaccine hesitant or all out anti vax. However the scientific facts cannot be denied. It reduces your risk of catching and spreading the virus and dramatically reduces your risk of serious illness from covid.

Janaih · 20/07/2021 21:01

My dh currently has covid, he's had one jab. It's like a bad cold. 5 days since he started showing symptoms and as yet I don't have it. I'm double jabbed. That'll do for me.
