If the app pinged you now, would you isolate?

Just wondering how people are responding at this stage given the changes they want to make to the app (things like sensitivity and NHS/double jabbed status).

I don't have the app and never have however I wouldn't isolate. My sons school have just been sent home as a teacher had it. We did a test, got résults the next day and were out again like normal x

Girlmama3 · 10/07/2021 13:58

@Mummasdiary2021 You still have to self isolate even with a negative test 🙄 Symptoms and a positive can take several days to show.

No wonder it’s spreading so fast.

WillowGrand · 10/07/2021 14:00

No, but then that’s why I’ve never had the app

osbertthesyrianhamster · 10/07/2021 14:01

No. Don't have the app, though.

Yes and if contact was a while prior to the test then they would be picked up. I'm not isolating. We have to learn to live with it. I havnt been isolating (as explained above) and havnt worn a mask during this whole pandemic despite being classed as extreamly vunrable and I have been perfectly fine. If you don't like it that's your problem, not mine :)

Thats not how isolation works! He's supposed to stay at home despite the negative test
Mummasdiary2021 · 10/07/2021 14:13

I know, that was my point. We wouldn't stay at home. We have to learn to live with it at some point. Whether it's now or in 2 weeks won't make a difference

BelleClapper · 10/07/2021 14:16

Nope. I got pinged last week, told work, they said their official line is that the app doesn’t count, only a phone call. I’m testing everyday, also jabbed and had it back in January.

CrotchetyQuaver · 10/07/2021 14:16

I'm not sure what I'd do. I don't have the app. I'm double vaccinated, I think I'd probably take a (proper) test and if that's negative and I have no symptoms/feel perfectly well then carry on more or less as normal. I lead a pretty isolated life anyway, I'm not out in public places if I can avoid it and get most stuff delivered.

BelleClapper · 10/07/2021 14:16

I deleted the app at that point.

Wizzbangfizz · 10/07/2021 14:18

Nope deleted the app a While ago

ifonly4 · 10/07/2021 14:19

I can't believe how many wouldn't isolate. I work with 200 children every day I can't distance from. Would any of you really thank me if I passed it on (as has happened between teaching staff and children)?

Well what a selfish person you are! How about I drive at 60mph outside your child's school, they've got to learn to cross the road after all?
rainbowfairydust · 10/07/2021 14:23

No, because I don't trust the judgement of the app and I couldn't get my kids to school etc.
I was contacted for the first time because I visited a venue where someone else had been that since tested positive... And was just told to do a test and not isolate. I will be extra cautious and do extra lateral flows... And my kids have a virus atm so I had them tested just incase. What we need is very reliable at home tests as good as the pcrs that people can use and isolate as soon as they get a positive, not all this guessing and isolating, ruining the economy and impacting mental health... I thought they would have been able to improve home tests by now

lifeinlimbo2020 · 10/07/2021 14:23

Don't have the app.

Your circumstances are different to others. I'd almost certainly act differently if I had school age children/worked in a school. I don't. Everyone's circumstances are different. The way this isolation is going, the country is going to grind to a halt. Some people don't get paid if they're isolating, they can't afford to not work.
ColettesEarrings · 10/07/2021 14:26

@ifonly4 If you tested negative and went in, then no I wouldn't blame you. If you were positive and carried on working, yes I would. Contact isolation has to stop at some point...

MUM2TJ · 10/07/2021 14:26

I work in a school and we got told had to isolate from weds and not allowed back until 16th due to contact with a child who tested positive..I have had 2 negative lateral flow tests and a negative pcr test but still have to isolate.. the whole class does negative or positive

yahyahs22 · 10/07/2021 14:26

Never had the app and wouldn't even if I did

Unanananana · 10/07/2021 14:28

No, the app is not fit for purpose. I had it until my friend got pinged through a brick wall because her next door neighbour tested positive. I couldn't afford to be off for ten days for that sort of thing.

@ifonly4 if you are vaccinated you have a lower chance of transmitting it to my children who have a very very low risk of becoming seriously ill. I would take that risk to ensure my children get their education. The guidelines for isolation are all coming to an end shortly. What difference does a few weeks make?

We need to learn to live with this now. We cannot hide in our homes forever.

UnChatNoir · 10/07/2021 14:36

Nope

Unescorted · 10/07/2021 14:41

I am isolating atm.... -ve result and double jabbed, but I have been in contact with someone who has it. I wouldn't to give it to someone else - I can't think of anyone I hate that much.

BabyDuedate · 10/07/2021 14:47

I haven't got the app, but if I was contacted by a close contact and told they had Covid, I would definitely isolate.

My main reason would be not wanting to pass it on and infect someone who was vulnerable and cause them a serious illness or death.

People like @Mummasdiary2021 obviously only think of themselves 😞

nordica · 10/07/2021 14:49

Yes because I'm only meeting people I care about indoors and wouldn't want to put them at risk. I wfh and don't go to pubs etc so it wouldn't be difficult for me.
