I've just seen this on my Apple News but can't view it as I don't have a premium subscription. Has anyone read the full article? Is there someone similar that this information has been published? I'm really interested in what it says and what is going to be done - if anything?

I had to have a sodding hysterscopy after a 6 week flooding period after 6 months without one . The period started the day I had my vaccine and I actually flooded as I queued several hours as a walk in. Probably just coincidence therefore that it was so heavy for weeks and weeks but I do wonder as have had normal periods since and now I think they've stopped again (I'm 48).

TeddyBearsPicnic89 · 10/07/2021 10:23

On cerazette and has been my pill of choice for years due to lack of periods. Since having my vaccine 7 weeks ago, I've had about 3/4 'periods' each lasting 5 days or so. I have a pain condition that's triggered by hormonal fluctuations (tmjd) so really not amused at all at the increased bleeding.

Latest update from Yellow Card report (updated 9th July 2021):

"Menstrual disorders (period problems) and unexpected vaginal bleeding

The MHRA is investigating reports of menstrual disorders (period problems) and unexpected vaginal bleeding following vaccination against COVID-19 in the UK. These reports are also being reviewed by the independent experts of the Commission on Human Medicines’ COVID-19 Vaccines Benefit Risk Expert Working Group and members of the Medicines for Women’s Health Expert Advisory Group.

A total of 20,680 reports of a variety of menstrual disorders have been reported after all three of the COVID-19 vaccines including heavier than usual periods, delayed periods and unexpected vaginal bleeding. This is following approximately 41 million COVID-19 vaccine doses administered to women up to 30 June 2021. The number of reports of menstrual disorders and vaginal bleeding is low in relation to both the number of females who have received COVID-19 vaccines to date and how common menstrual disorders are generally.

The MHRA is carrying out a detailed analysis of the evidence, including considering other relevant data sources, for review by experts. Menstrual disorders account for 12% of all referrals to gynaecology services. Changes to the menstrual cycle have also been reported following infection with COVID-19 and in women affected by long-COVID. There is no evidence of an effect on fertility of COVID-19 vaccines.

Advice about period problems and/or unexpected vaginal bleeding is available at: www.nhs.uk It is important that anyone experiencing menstrual disorders and/or unexpected vaginal bleeding should seek medical advice, with these events being investigated in line with clinical guidance."

Anyone who hasn't yet reported side effects should report them here.

20,680

And that's just the tip of the iceberg.

Vaccines are generally a good thing.

But women need information - to give informed consent.

Exactly. I wasn't aware of the Yellow Card report scheme until I read about it on Mumsnet. There are so many posts on social media (e.g. Twitter, Reddit) from women and girls questioning why their menstrual cycle is fucked up after getting vaccinated.

I've declined the invitation to my second jab because the side effects are that bad.

@PurpleHoodie

You (all of us women) need to really demand better service from NHS clinicians.

I'm going to.

That's certainly how it feels. Although I am not doubting I am perimenopausal, my longest cycle was 40 days apart not 4 bloody months and even then it's barely spotting, not a period at such. I got an email reply from my GP saying all sounds normal. Too co-incidental for my liking.

I had my second AZ in April and since that my once clockwork periods have gone from every 27 days to all over the place, after two weeks and this one I’ve been waiting nearly 40 days and this is VERY unusual for me.

I always know if I am pregnant without doing a test by the way I feel but I did one just to make sure and it’s negative. I am early 40s.

Reported to yellow card scheme.

RubbishRug · 10/07/2021 16:36

My clockwork 26 day cycle has gone up to 30 days since I had AZ in April.

More heavy than usual, massive clots (tend to have these anyway).

It would make me think twice about vaccinating younger teenage girls who either haven't got the period yet or just started it very recently.

I’m so glad I found this. My cycles have been 31/32 days and we’re trying to conceive. Last cycle was 27 days and this one has been 28. I’ve had both jabs (Pfizer) and my second was on 30th June. I’m going mental here. :-(

SageBlue · 14/07/2021 13:51

I had my second AZ on June 5th. Since then I've gotten water retention, sore boobs and faint cramps. Been post menopausal for at least two years. Still, the 24/7 hot flushes have buggered off completely, so there's that....

Krimson · 16/07/2021 06:53

@Krimson

I'm glad I found this thread and it is being talked about. I had my first Pfizer jab in April and had no side effects. I had my 2nd dose on the 15th of June and started my period 3 days later which was 5 days before it was due. I have never had an early period and they are so regular I could set my watch by them. I'm now on CD13 and still on low fertility on my fertility monitor whereas by now I'd be on high or ovulating.

I had a miscarriage in February however due to retained tissue it dragged on until March. I am 34 next week and time is not on my side and now I have the added worry of what this has done to my fertility. Had I known this, I would have delayed the vaccine. I'm so worried now and have reported it through the yellow card.

I posted this a few weeks ago after my period had came early and then when tracking my ovulation it had been delayed causing all sort of anxiety. I ovulated two days after this post and I have now found out I'm pregnant which I absolutely did not expect after my cycle being out of whack. Hopefully this can as comfort to others Flowers

Congratulations Flowers

Had my 2nd Pfizer at beginning of July and my period (1st one since having the jab) arrived late despite normally being like clock work as I'm on the pill.
Finished the pill on Tuesday, no bleed until Saturday. ( Today). I'd usually have it Wednesday or Thursday.
The bloating and cramps before it came were really rotten. Headache, unsteady on my legs and a whole new level of tiredness this time also. It's also a heavy bleed considering I'm on the pill and previous bleeds were lighter.

I really didn't think Pfizer would interfere with the rhythm of the pill.

Only 20k have reported it, how many more women are there that haven't made the connection. I had Covid last year, no issues with bleeding. The jab is a different story! Young women particularly, need to be made aware of the side effects.

Just your anecdote. Loads and loads of women have reported issues after Covid infection.

Yup, there's a lot of epidemiological evidence that COVID itself is associated with menstrual cycle changes.

I had no difference with either infection or vaccination, but am just one person.

Yes just my experience, I'm sure everyone is different, but you go off your own experience. I was ill with Covid for 3 weeks but no issues. I won't be rushing to get another jab after the side effects especially when I've had it and double jabbed
