I've just seen this on my Apple News but can't view it as I don't have a premium subscription. Has anyone read the full article? Is there someone similar that this information has been published? I'm really interested in what it says and what is going to be done - if anything?

Try not to worry too much @Krimson your menstrual cycle isn’t reflective of your fertility. It’s good you reported it to yellow card though as it is a side effect of the vaccine.

CatFan1122 · 02/07/2021 15:53

Supposed to be having my jab tonight but concerned as my periods used to be debilitating.

I'm on cerazette and this has stopped my periods

Anyone had their periods return after the jab? (I.e if you are on the pill?)

CatFan1122 · 02/07/2021 18:02

Just had it so whatever will be will be 🤷‍♀️

lovelybitofsquirrell · 02/07/2021 19:26

@spookycookies

Sorry to pull you back into the thread. I'm currently ovulating now 😬 Looks like the vaccine just delayed me a few weeks.

Wishing you all the best and so sorry for your losses. ❤️

This is so upsetting. I've been ttc since a miscarriage in December. Has 1st Pfizer at end of May and period was a week early this month (initially got excited that it was implantation bleeding). How can they say it doesn't affect your fertility if it messes up your period - every month my period is messed up is a month I probably miss a chance to conceive!! What will happen after 2nd vaccine, how many months is this going to go on for?? I just can't believe they didn't warn us of us this, but like previous posters said, if it was 4000 men who were having problems I'm sure you'd see it taken more seriously.

Just found this thread - I’m one month on from my Pfizer jab and 2 weeks on from the end of my last period, but I’ve just started bleeding heavily again Confused

I struggle horribly with menstrual migraines anyway and woke up with a migraine this morning, then felt utterly wiped out all afternoon with fatigue and a sore lower back. The odd symptoms all make more sense now but my cycle is usually regular like clockwork so it can only be the jab that’s caused this.

StubbleTurnips · 03/07/2021 22:14

Glad I found this thread, diagnosed adenomyosis- periods are managed with tranexamic acid.

Had the PF vaccination- period a week early, huge clots which the tranexamic didn’t touch and pain through my hips left me in tears and unable to move. Next period is due soon, if similar I’ll report.

bluetongue · 03/07/2021 22:25

I’ve had my first Pfizer vaccination a week ago and my period is now early. I’m not convinced it’s vaccine related though. Back at the beginning of May I went on holiday and took norethisterone for the first time to delay my period. Pretty sure this can mess with your cycle for a few months after. My cycle is usually around 35 days but can be anywhere between 28 days and 35 days. The current one is more like 24-25 days. I’m also 45 so right in the window for peri menopause period weirdness.

With such huge numbers being vaccinated it’s inevitable that some of the women will have wonky periods as it’s a pretty common problem for women with or without vaccines.

That sounds awful. You should definitely report via Yellow Card if you haven't already.

I had my first jab at the end of May. I've since had three separate bleeds within a month. Today I had painful cramps and no bleeding.

I get bad reactions (spotting, cramps) from hormonal contraception like the pill or Mirena coil. The side effects I've experienced from Pfizer have been more worrying than any contraception I've tried.

StrongLegs · 03/07/2021 22:29

I've had really strange period symptoms after both the covid infection itself and after the Astrazenica vaccine, so I think it must be something to do with the spike protein, which is common to both.

The thing that happened to me was that my period was completely normal right through the acute phase of infection (6 weeks) but when my next period started, my blood pressure fell really low and I felt very weird for several days, until it normalised. I also had much heavier bleeding than usual.

That happened one more time, but more mildly, and then my periods went back to normal.

Then separately over the following year, I just had this weird thing where my blood pressure would suddenly go really low for no reason, and I'd have to stay in bed until it came back to normal. Sometimes that takes several days and that is still happening to me 16 months later, but not connected with my period

The other funny thing that happened was that it was exactly the same after I had the astrazenica vaccine. The first period after that, my blood pressure went really low and I felt really weird again, and once again it took about a week in bed to sort it out. The bleeding was not heavier that time though.

The blood pressure thing is still ongoing.

Sometimes it goes right down from a normal reading of 120/80 to 82/52, with no apparent trigger. I'm certain that that is a side effects of having had a covid infection though, and the recurrence after the vaccine must be to do with the spike protein rather than some side effect of having had a vaccine.

I'm in the process of being referred to the long covid clinic and I have reported all the side effects of the vaccine and all the symptoms of covid on every online survey I can lay my hands on.

bluetongue · 03/07/2021 22:39

Forgot t add that I’ve also recently started taking spironolactone which has irregular periods a possible side effect.

MimsyBorogroves · 03/07/2021 22:47

My periods are odd and irregular anyway, but I had my first Pfizer in March and haven't had a period since. Hmm This is the longest I've gone without one...

Me too, last period 9th March. Pfizer jab April.... no period since March. I yellow card reported it and asked GP who said it was menopause and normal (I am 48)
happydays33 · 04/07/2021 00:54

I'm due a smear test as my last one was
borderline, I've had to wait 12 months for this smear test, I've felt all has been ok but only last week I've had spotting, 6 weeks after my first vaccine.... I maybe peri, im 39, but is also could be a genuine medical problem, but the vaccine adding to my worries is a worry I dont need, however we don't know the full side effects of the vaccine, but how can we expect them to know, when it has been produced so quickly.... I am thankful for the vaccine,
I hope and prey they are no long term effects we are all still unaware that of....

Thegreymethod · 04/07/2021 02:01

@RagzReturnsRebooted I have had covid in February periods were normal after, had the vaccine (Pfizer) in may and been all over the place since, usually very regular but I've had 4 since the vaccine. Also had other side effects, certain food and drink taste awful now and certain smells make me want to be sick (all just since the vaccine, not since I had covid)

MimsyBorogroves · 04/07/2021 13:34

@Theonlyoneiknow I'm 39 and my GP has said (without any tests Hmm) it's "normal for me" and "one of those things".

Ace.

Theonlyoneiknow · 06/07/2021 14:31

MimsyBorogroves mine finally arrived ...... 4 months after my last one Hmm

Ingridla · 09/07/2021 11:50

I had to come back to this thread. I've just had the most horrendous pain on day 4 of my cycle after v light bleeding u til now which is unusual in its pattern, but the agony has scared me, I had to ring the ex to take DS to school, I went white as a sheet & faint with the pain in my pelvis. Why the hell is nobody talking about this Angry I had my first jab in Feb, second in June.

PurpleHoodie · 09/07/2021 13:33

News reports now saying it's 13000 plus yellow reports.

Theonlyoneiknow · 09/07/2021 15:40

My period finally turned up 4 months later. However I use the term period lightly - it's only spotting ....

PurpleHoodie · 09/07/2021 15:51

Theonly If you are trying to conceive; get it checked out.

If you are young, and this is unusual for you - get it checked out ASAP.

If you are in the menopausal era; get it checked out for reasons related to cancer ASAP.

Theonlyoneiknow · 09/07/2021 16:25

PurpleHoodie - I am 48 - I asked my gp and she said it was "normal" for my age, despite it never being longer than 45 days before?! I said would any blood tests be beneficial and she said no....

PurpleHoodie · 09/07/2021 16:36

You were dismissed.

Most of us from the age of 10 upwards have been.

PurpleHoodie · 09/07/2021 16:38

You (all of us women) need to really demand better service from NHS clinicians.

I'm going to.

UsedName000 · 09/07/2021 21:27

Mine have been late and heavier after AZ, I don’t think that it was a coincidence.

I haven’t reported via a yellow card, although I know that I should have. In theory, the licence holders should be monitoring websites such as this as part of their post-marketing surveillance/signal monitoring, so posting here may help to raise awareness.
