Just a heads up in case anyone is interested, I just registered to receive a free home Covid antibody testing kit due to being a Zoe Covid app user.

Will this show if you have antibodies after vaccination?

@SoSadAboutMyDad

Will this show if you have antibodies after vaccination?
Apparently not.

"Vaccines teach your immune system how to create antibodies. But the antibodies developed after vaccination are different to the ones the antibody test checks for to tell you if you’ve had the virus before. If you’ve had the vaccine, you may be asked to take a different test to check your response to it.

The COVID-19 vaccine will not affect the result of your antibody test."

I have registered for this but it says I have to wait to be invited to actually get a test - I am only registered for now.

"You're registered

Your registration details will help us prioritise antibody test kits.

When can you order a test kit
You need to wait to be invited to order a test kit.

This invite may take a few weeks to arrive by email or text.

It will contain a link and tell you what to do.

Once ordered, your test kit will arrive in the post within 5 days."

Arcadia · 08/06/2021 16:39

Thanks for this, I've just registered for me!

@SoSadAboutMyDad it should do, my partner's did after both his vaccine doses.

ILookAtTheFloor · 08/06/2021 16:42

I registered too but couldn't order a test.

kimlo · 08/06/2021 16:44

I did one a while ago after the Zoe app asked. I didn't have antibodies.

HarrietOh · 08/06/2021 16:50

I was asked a week or so ago so I filled in the form but nothing's arrived yet.

FlagsFiend · 08/06/2021 17:09

I was invited by the Zoe app last week to register and then the next day I got a booking code to get a test. I had covid in December so mine was to see if I still have antibodies 6 months on. I do recommend watching the video before signing up (I didn't), it involved collecting more blood that I was expecting - which I was okay with, but I was expecting it to be like a diabetic sugar test and it isn't.

Also do make sure you have tissues and the plaster ready for after collection as stopping the bleeding does require a bit of time and pressure - you have to do several things to encourage bleeding (drink lots, hand exercises and make it nice and warm) so you then need to reverse this. I also had to resort to holding my hand above my head for a bit and secured the plaster with micropore tape as the plasters they provide are tiny and not good at staying stuck on a fingertip.

I got that message @conkersarebonkers then day later got a text to complete the details to send the kit out

That was probably a different test, or one that looks for both types. This is looking specifically for previous infection ( antibodies), not vacciination (S )antobodies.

GiantGoose · 08/06/2021 17:27

@ILookAtTheFloor after you register they sent me a text to complete the order

Watsername · 08/06/2021 19:44

Can any Zoe user do this, or do you have to wait to be invited by them?

Pinksmartie230316 · 08/06/2021 20:52

I registered for one on Saturday. Got an invite Sunday. The kit arrived yesterday , I did it, sent it back and got the results today. Such a quick turn around. I've got antibodies. I tested positive for covid in December.

HarrietOh · 08/06/2021 20:58

Ohhh I also got a government text with a code the day after but I thought because I’d already filled in the form for Zoe that would be enough! I’ll use the code.

GiantGoose · 08/06/2021 23:54

I didn’t get an invite from Zoe @Watsername I just filled out the registration on the uk gov link I put in my ordinal post

MancyNitford · 09/06/2021 07:44

I use Zoe, but I haven't had a direct invite from them though. I tried to register on .gov, but it wouldn't let me continue because I don't work in one of the industries they are looking at at present.

@SoSadAboutMyDad

I had my test back and yes it shows that I have antibodies
Abraxan · 09/06/2021 08:21

I did one a month or so ago. It only tests for virus borne antibodies, not those from vaccines.

I had covid in October and it showed I still had antibodies.

Tumbleweed101 · 09/06/2021 08:40

I did one and was very surprised it showed no antibodies as I’d had a really bad cough and chest around the time my children had tested positive for Covid and I’d assumed I’d had it too - despite my tests being negative. I’d been dithering about the vaccine but this result was the one that pushed me into having it rather than waiting.

I found it difficult to fill the tube with as much blood as needed and you definitely need to read the leaflets as to how to get good blood flow. The test didn’t really hurt but it is fiddly.

Just got my text! Thanks for sharing this - really interested in the result!
ILookAtTheFloor · 09/06/2021 10:17

I got my text, ordered the test but I just watched the video and jeez, I felt faint just watching it so not sure I'll be able to bring myself to actually do it!!

Quartz2208 · 09/06/2021 10:21

Got the text this morning - for me had symptoms back in March 2020 and then DH had COVID in December but I was always negative so I guess they want to see if I had it in March and still have antibodies!

ICanSmellSummerComing · 09/06/2021 12:01

Thanks Ihave registered and have a test coming through. I had it very mildly last march so interested to see how it comes through

canigooutyet · 09/06/2021 12:18

Yes really read on the how to get the blood out stuff. And triple read if you have to. There's also loads of videos on Youtube.

Got these results back quicker (4 days) than I did my covid test haha.

I still have antibodies and I had cv back in feb/march 2020. It feels amazing to have gone over a year.

ICanSmellSummerComing · 09/06/2021 14:57

If you still have anti bodies is it worth have the second jab?
