Just a heads up in case anyone is interested, I just registered to receive a free home Covid antibody testing kit due to being a Zoe Covid app user.

I sent my test off yesterday and it came back negative today. Not surprised as I didn’t think I’d had covid.

Getting blood out was hard. It went everywhere but the tube! I got it to almost 400 so was worried it might not be enough.

annlee3817 · 23/06/2021 23:22

Did mine on Monday and got results back today, negative despite a positive COVID test in feb this year.... second vaccine can’t come quick enough

blahblahblah321 · 24/06/2021 11:15

Just done mine, took 3 attempts to get a decent flow going! It was pouring out by the third ShockGrin!!

NebulaStorm · 24/06/2021 13:03

Just done mine. Not sure it's a good sample as I was rubbing down my hand and finger and missed the but about retrying after 2 minutes! I was 'milking' that finger for 20!

blyss · 24/06/2021 14:04

Did mine last night and sent it off this morning. I've done that kind of blood test before so it wasn't too bad, one attempt and didn't manage to spill a drop! The 2 mins of jumping jacks was the most exercise I've done since the first lockdown Blush.

Sent mine off yesterday and had a negative result back today, disappointing as I had a positive COVID test in February. However, I had negligible symptoms and was fully recovered within a couple of days so maybe that's why I have no detectable antibodies.

cornercupboard · 25/06/2021 06:35

Thank you for posting the link.
I got a kit and got DH to do the business, but I fainted before getting any more than 5 or 6 drops! Full on slump onto the floor, was out for 3 minutes, heart rate down to 40 according to DH and his SATS monitor. I am not normally bothered by blood tests, and although I can't give blood any more due to crap haemoglobin levels, it was such a tiny prick (the lancet not DH Grin) that I was surprised.

Don't feel inclined to do it again. But DH who is CEV did one fine, and has no antibodies from illness. Would really like to do one where it checks for antibodies due to vaccine.

Got my result back today after posting it yesterday morning - negative. I've never had any symptoms, but was half expecting a positive as I've been out and about a lot. DD is in nursery, I use public transport in London 4 days a week and we've been going to toddler groups and indoor venues like soft play and museums. Seems like all the social distancing measures have worked well, so I'm glad we didn't restrict ourselves - I know lots of parents who have pretty much stopped all fun activities to avoid getting it but it looks like it has been fine for us.

NebulaStorm · 25/06/2021 20:44

Negative too. Thought would have caught it from DD9 who has been at school.

TwoBlueFish · 25/06/2021 20:55

Did mine about a week ago. Result back next day - positive for antibodies.

I’m sure I had COVID in March 2020 (at beginning of 1st lockdown) but the antibody test said likely in the last 6 months. I’m guessing the 6 months is because that’s as long as they currently think antibodies last.

Elizabeth110100 · 25/06/2021 20:57

Got mine back today too, positive for antibodies.

Lau52 · 25/06/2021 22:03

I got mine back yesterday and tested positive. I was ill November but never had any of 3 symptoms to get PCR test. So was quite surprised

CrappyBirthday2Me · 26/06/2021 02:24

Negative for me and I'm quite gutted.

CoronaBanana · 26/06/2021 15:55

Yes it's because that's only how long they've tested them for.
My brother's came back positive for antibodies and he had covid (very mild) 8 months ago.
Mine was also positive and I had covid (also very mildly) 6m ago.

I was in hospital with covid in October. My antibody test was done 7/8 months after. It said the same but I think it's just a general guide and some people's antibodies are from longer ago.
hanahsaunt · 26/06/2021 16:02

I did mine last week and had the result less than 24h after posting - negative which was no real surprise given my general health over the last year but I do live with three key workers (inc frontline Covid NHS) and two at two different schools so potential for exposure is high. Roll on vax 2 next week!

blahblahblah321 · 27/06/2021 08:57

My results came back as negative

MySharonavirus · 04/07/2021 20:17

@Quartz2208 sorry to be nosey, but just wondered whether you did the antibody test and found out whether you had antibodies? I'm in the same situation as you - my husband and I have been ill with Covid symptoms this week, but he tested positive and I tested negative.

WineGetsMeThroughIt · 08/07/2021 11:12

Can someone please clarify for me - do I need to tuck that I am a Zoe app user (I'm not) in order to get one of these antibody tests?

The criteria online only says this:

Who can register for a home test kit

You may be able to register for an antibody test:
• depending on your job and where you live
• if you’re part of an antibody research study or survey

If you’re in England

You can register for a test kit if you’re 18 or over and you work in paid adult social care.

CaramelFlat · 08/07/2021 12:14

yes you have to tick that yo are part of the Zoe study. However, you don't have to have done it for any particular length of time, so you could download it and start doing it now, and then apply for a test and at some point the antibody site will send you an invite to book one with a code.

Dawnxc · 14/07/2021 11:47

Hi, can I ask how long your results took please? I posted mine last Tuesday, received on the weds by the lab so today is a week after it was received. I’m not sure where to chase for the results also?

Littleone638 · 14/07/2021 21:22

@Dawnxc I cocked mine up and called 119 about a replacement and they had an option for if you were calling about an antibody test, so that might be the best option for chasing results

Littleone638 · 14/07/2021 21:23

@Dawnxc should have said, mine were back within 24 hours of the lab receiving them

Dawnxc · 14/07/2021 21:32

Thanks @Littleone638, I called 119 today, they said they’re q&a state they should be returned within 7 days but occasionally it may be up to 14 and if they aren’t received then to order a new one. I don’t really need to know but it’s just nice to find out once you’ve done it isn’t it. Hopefully I should hear by next Tuesday!

Jellifer · 20/07/2021 13:44

I posted my sample on Friday and got a positive result today. I had suspected covid in March 2020 but wasn’t eligible for a test back then as I didn’t have a cough.

I’ve been doing the same test monthly as part of a study for Cambridge uni but don’t get results back for that. I was assuming that as they still wanted my blood after more than a year I might still have antibodies so looks like I was right.
