The weather is crap

We are being primed for a screeching halt to the roadmap

Lovely sunny foreign holidays off the agenda for the foreseeable

We got through a long, hard winter for this ? So fed up.

I'm planning to make the most of it. Don't want to regret not getting out whilst we can if there are further restrictions brought in (which I'm not sure there will be at this point)

BIWI · 17/05/2021 10:15

I think the fact that it's virtually non-stop rain makes it even harder to bear.

I can't see everything unlocking by June, given what's happening, and agree we're being primed for this date shifting into July at the earliest

AnyFucker · 17/05/2021 10:21

This incessant rain and grey skies in May is depressing me. Last May I was working 12 hour shifts in ICU while my friends and family bbq’d, paddling-pooled and soaked up the daily sunshine.

I would feel a lot better if the weather was at least seasonal. I still feel trapped in my centrally-heated house as it is 9 deg right now and raining again . And don’t tell me to put my mac and wellies on and enjoy it. I’ve been doing that for weeks.

I have turned into such a fucking moaner. I am sick of myself.

Most people are at work anyway so I doubt the impact will be seem until the weekend.

Pinchoftums · 17/05/2021 10:30

I am forcing myself to try and enjoy the little things as the big things are shite.
People in the garden in the rain was surprisingly OK.

Sallycinnamum · 17/05/2021 10:30

I feel exactly like this OP and the weather has a huge part to play in how flat I feel.

I was in Central London on Friday night and it was brilliant seeing so many people out and about and drinking in the bars but we were all sitting there shivering and wearing thick coats!

This time last year I felt anxious but 100 times better than I feel at the moment. It's just never ending.

felineflutter · 17/05/2021 10:38

Anyone know when the jetstream might shift or is this going to be it for the summer?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 17/05/2021 10:42

It does look at thought it may begin to dry out next week and towards June warm up to more seasonal temperatures.

LizzieMacQueen · 17/05/2021 10:45

Monday mornings always felt a bit flat for me. Too far from the next weekend.

poorbuthappy · 17/05/2021 10:47

I feel exactly the same.
I'm weary of it.
Rain and grey skies.
It's bollocks.

BUT - I can feel the air getting warmer...I'm clinging onto this in the vain hope it means summer is coming.....

BarefootHippieChick · 17/05/2021 10:47

I'm with bordois Last year when things reopened I was fairly cautious and still didn't do much but this year, fuck it. I'm out and enjoying myself before I have to spend winter locked inside 4 walls again.

LadyCatStark · 17/05/2021 10:49

It’s 100% the weather that’s causing everyone to feel like this. Oh and the whole go out but don’t go out, hug your loved ones but don’t get too close rubbish!

nordica · 17/05/2021 10:50

This weather is horrendous, I don't even want to go for a walk let alone go anywhere. I don't even seem to own shoes that can cope with this much rain other than wellies.

May last year was apparently gorgeous although I was working long days and can't remember enjoying much then either...

MoreAloneTime · 17/05/2021 10:51

I'm just keeping my expectations really low personally. I wouldn't shit on anyone else's optimism it's just self protection for me

HazeyJaneII · 17/05/2021 10:52

It does all feel relentlessly shit at the moment, but I thought it was just me as I have hit rock bottom.

BIWI · 17/05/2021 10:52

Sorry you're feeling so down @AnyFucker

ElizabethTudor · 17/05/2021 10:53

The weather is shit, the Indian variant is shit, but at least we can meet people (though I will continue to meet outdoors so more damp shivering for me!)

BIWI · 17/05/2021 10:53

(and everyone else too Flowers)

whataballbag · 17/05/2021 10:54

Sorry you're feeling so down @AnyFucker - it's been a fucking slog, I feel the same.

Was hoping to feel much more hopeful a year on but instead it's just a bit flat isn't it

BIWI · 17/05/2021 10:54

We are, at least, able to have Christmas this weekend - DS2 will be able to come home, along with SIL and BIL who were supposed to come to use for Christmas but then couldn't, when Boris cancelled everything. So we do have that to look forward to. I had hoped, of course, that we might have nice enough weather to have a barbecue, but instead we're having winter-like food!

User135644 · 17/05/2021 10:55

They've terrified people over the variant.

User135644 · 17/05/2021 10:58

@RaininSummer

Yeah, they'd learnt their lessons from first time around when they opened the pubs for the first time in 4 months on a Saturday.

The weekends will be busy again in pubs and restaurants from Friday/Saturday night.

HazeyJaneII · 17/05/2021 10:58

Yes, sorry for all those feeling a bit shitFlowers
@BIWI - that sounds lovely, at least the weather will be lending itself to the Christmassy feel!!
