I'm 38 and have just been sent a text by my GP, booked for next week!

nordica · 10/05/2021 14:04

Thanks for the new thread!

38 and still waiting here in SE London. I've been trying the booking site regularly...

BlackLambAndGreyFalcoln · 10/05/2021 14:14

Place marking. I'm 3 months too young from the current cut-off and desperate for my jab! Also SE London and repeatedly trying the booking system and no text from my gp. I really hope that the modifications they have to make to the site to allow pregnant women and under 40s to book a non-AZ vaccination don't slow down the rollout too much!

Purplesparkle34 · 10/05/2021 14:29

I’m 35 and has a text last week inviting me to book mine. Managed to get a slot on Sunday!

Spirael · 10/05/2021 14:33

DH and I are both 39, and less than 1 month too young for the current eligibility in one case! No joy on the booking site so far.

Tried contacting the GP earlier to ask whether we could be listed as willing to have the AZ vaccine if any slots came available. Since we're both so close to the cut-off and at low risk for clotting.

Response was that they're not allowed to offer AZ to anyone under 40 anymore! I thought the change was that they were meant to prioritise non-AZ, provided it didn't slow down the rate of vaccinations?

piglet81 · 10/05/2021 14:35

Another SE Londoner here. 39, and just got a text inviting me to book this morning. Only let me book the first one though, and no information about which jab is on offer...

casper2017 · 10/05/2021 14:37

I am 40 next week, booked my vaccine about a week ago for this morning at a mass vaccination centre. They would not vaccinate me as they are only doing AZ. Was turned away and told to rebook after my 40th birthday next week. Rang 119, was told that I should not have been turned away as the system says I am eligible.

BlackLambAndGreyFalcoln · 10/05/2021 14:39

That's great news @piglet81! If you book via the GP route you only book one appointment at a time. They'll send you another text message when it's time to book your second appointment (was at 9 weeks post first dose for my husband).

Really hoping my SE London GP texts me soon (or that I can book via the national site)....

whatswithtodaytoday · 10/05/2021 14:40

39 (Nov 81) and still waiting, mid-Essex.

BlackLambAndGreyFalcoln · 10/05/2021 14:40

That's really crap @casper2017. I thought we were to be offered a choice whether to have AZ or not.

HairyFloppins · 10/05/2021 14:41

39 got booked via gp link for this Friday. Says Pfizer on the message so will see.

casper2017 · 10/05/2021 14:43

I thought the same, they told me that 5 mins before I arrived they were told to start checking ages and that no one under 40 was to be vaccinated with AZ even if they were invited. 119 have no knowledge of this so very confusing!
IWishTheBishopWell · 10/05/2021 14:46

32, London, very keen to be vaccinated as I'm due to go on immunosuppressants over the summer and didn't meet the asthma criteria for group 6 in the end.

usernotfound0000 · 10/05/2021 14:48

37 and still waiting!

pitterpatterrain · 10/05/2021 14:48

38, London haven’t heard anything

WhiteChocTwix · 10/05/2021 14:54

39, South East, booked for my first dose tomorrow. I was really excited about finally getting it done, also starting to feel a bit nervous now in case it's AZ Confused

Spirael · 10/05/2021 15:38

And exactly 1 hour later... Both DH and I were contacted by the GP, and are now booked in for the pfizer vaccine on Friday! We're both 39 and in Yorkshire.

LemonCake79 · 10/05/2021 15:38
  1. Waiting.

All my friends are vaccinated. In conversation with friends this morning I commented that I hadn't had mine and they all concluded my GP must be especially crap. It was news to them that under 40's haven't been officially called yet via the national booking site.

vaxmeup · 10/05/2021 15:44

38 and waiting, in an area of London with very low uptake so far. Almost everyone I know has had at least one dose. Would happily take AZ if offered.

user1471468988 · 10/05/2021 15:55

38 and still waiting here. Husband is 40 and was called by GP just before they announced the over 40s could book via the national link but no such luck for me so far. Interesting that we may not even be offered AZ at all. Feel like that will cause further delays. Really fed up that BoJo will be annoying further easing later and no sign of a jab for me

Imfedupwithallofthis · 10/05/2021 16:00

Good to see some under 40s getting called for vaccines. I have had both doses of AZ, so I haven't started this thread for myself. But my daughters, both under 40, are very keen to get theirs.

^ this. My work are obsessed with getting us all back to 'business as usual' and I want to bleat that I haven't even had one vaccine yet so really don't want to be travelling the length and breadth of the country on the trains.
BanningTheWordNaice · 10/05/2021 16:19

Caspar can I ask if it was guys? I have a vaccine appointment booked for tomorrow, I’m under 40 but need it as will be returning to being hospital based for work in a few weeks.

No it wasn't Guys, it was Etihad, Manchester for anyone else that may be booked there.
user1471468988 · 10/05/2021 16:39

@LemonCake79 that is exactly what annoys me. All this talk of being back in the office and everything being open is all very well for those who are vaccinated!
