Tbh I find it frustrating when the places ahead of schedule talk about getting their vaccines. Great for them but many of us the same age can't get the vaccine in our own area.

Sunshinegirl82 · 10/05/2021 19:42

@blondie87

I suspect that the reality is that it would be too burdensome from an admin perspective to work out who to call and in what order. GPs don't have a reliable list of occupations for every patient.

The most straightforward (and therefore the quickest) approach is to just stick with calling people in order of age. It's not perfect but I can see why they've decided to go that way.

minipilling · 10/05/2021 19:56

I think our GP is calling in alphabetical order, which seems weird as I assumed it would be by birthdate. I'm 35 and DH 38 and no call, we have a surname in the middle of the alphabet. But 30, 32 year olds have had theirs with A-C surnames.

delilahbucket · 10/05/2021 20:18

I'm 35 in West Yorkshire and can book mine through my GP.
Dp 40 and getting his first tomorrow.

nordica · 10/05/2021 20:42

Are any in the 40+ group still finding it hard to book a suitable appointment, I wonder? Can't really work out if it's the lack of available appointments causing the hold up or something else.

At this point I'd love to just be able to book even if the appointment is a week or even two away, the uncertainty is so frustrating. (I'm 38)

WhiteChocTwix · 11/05/2021 12:22

1st dose of Pfizer done. So relieved. It's definitely under 40s day here!

Winecheesesleep · 11/05/2021 13:12

39 here in the South West and no invitation yet. It feels like we've been waiting forever!

whatswithtodaytoday · 11/05/2021 14:20

It really does feel like it's taking forever now, doesn't it! So many of my friends (late 30s/early 40s) are already jabbed, I feel like one of the last ones and now everything is opening up. I definitely won't be going indoors anywhere until I'm 3 weeks post first jab, which means I'm likely at least a month away.

RumHoney · 11/05/2021 14:24

My OH is still waiting too. I am the other side of 40 and got done at the start of the month, meaning I'll be 3 weeks post jab when we go on holiday (in the UK) at the end of next week and happier about eating inside pubs etc, but it's now looking like he might need to wait until we get back. It also means that a potential trip abroad to visit family is looking further away as ideally we'd both have both jabs + 3 weeks before we go, so that's looking like September.

Herein98 · 11/05/2021 14:48

Matt Hancock has told Sky News the over-35s will be called “pretty soon” - what do we think that means?

whatswithtodaytoday · 11/05/2021 16:00

Interesting @Herein98! The Independent says within the next fortnite... I was thinking next Monday (so secretly open Sunday night) based on what people have been told at vaccine centres about supply, but perhaps that's a bit over-optimistic.

nordica · 11/05/2021 16:01

I keep trying the booking system a few times a day just in case... From reading the previous threads the booking website usually starts letting people book a day or two before the official announcement is made so could really be any day now?

My local CCG and council are constantly tweeting about the importance of getting the jab to protect yourself and others. So frustrating when I can't get it yet!!! Aaaaggghhhh. Grin

frizzyandfrazzled · 11/05/2021 16:12

DP was invited today. Aug 83, north lancs. He followed the link to book at the local large hub (football ground) but has no idea which brand he will get. I'm waiting, Apr 85, just tried the national online booking with no luck, again 😆

JustPinchanInch · 11/05/2021 16:24

I'm 32 and got my text from the GP yesterday inviting me for mine.
Booked for tomorrow afternoon, second one booked at the same time for the end of July

squiglet111 · 11/05/2021 16:59

I'm getting stressed waiting to be called. The vaccine passport news was a kick in the teeth today. How many people won't be able to go on holiday this summer as we won't be fully vaccinated. So unfair on those that had holiday plans.

Newname9 · 11/05/2021 17:10

July 83 and still waiting here! Sussex - hopefully not much longer

vaxmeup · 11/05/2021 17:37

I suspect that updating the booking system is taking longer than expected. Sounds like lots of people in their 30s are getting called by GPs though so perhaps once the national booking website opens there might not be many of us left to do (I'm still waiting)!

BlackLambAndGreyFalcoln · 11/05/2021 17:39

I hope "pretty soon" means within the next few days! It's been nearly 2 weeks since they opened it up to 40 year old.

@squiglet111 I have the same concerns re holidays, but isn't it either both vaccinations or a recent negative test? Bit of a palaver to have to go through the testing process I know, but thats preferable to losing the holiday!

Yamaya · 11/05/2021 18:09

36,Suffolk. I tried the website today and it said not eligible then received a text to book a pfizer vaccine so am now booked in for Friday. I wonder if they are just texting people as and when non Astra zeneca vaccines become available.

I didn't read up on it as we aren't going on holiday anyway. But that's good if they let you go with a negative test at least.
sollythecat · 11/05/2021 18:31

36 and 38 - dh and I were both contacted today through our gp to book vaccination for tomorrow of Pfizer. We are in Essex

FatimaLovesBread · 11/05/2021 18:31

35 and got Pfizer clinic booked on Friday in West Yorkshire. Next village along have been asked to trial some Pfizer clinics to gauge the up take in 35-39 bracket vs other vaccines. Anyone could book so I sent the link to everyone I know who fits that bracket

LondonWFuck · 11/05/2021 18:34

Yeah you can still go away with a negative test. Not that it's really possible to go anywhere over the next few weeks but hopefully that will change soon!

usernotfound0000 · 11/05/2021 18:36

@FatimaLovesBread can I ask roughly where that is? I'm in South Leeds, Elland Road is my nearest hub, still waiting!

FatimaLovesBread · 11/05/2021 19:01

@usernotfound0000 it's the Huddersfield end of West Yorkshire, close to Greater Mancs border
