@Imfedupwithallofthis

Good to see some under 40s getting called for vaccines. I have had both doses of AZ, so I haven't started this thread for myself. But my daughters, both under 40, are very keen to get theirs.
Im following this thread for my DS who is 32 and my DD who is 26 (although my DD will be in the next thread no doubt) :)

But now are loads of people on here and at work in London are getting lucky being called up early as their jab by their GP but no illnesses is it just because their GP happens to be a vaccine centre and the rest of us have to wait? I don't get it if that's the case seems unfair. Can anyone explain it to me?

As I understand it, most GPs are linked to a local vaccine centre in their area even if they are not doing jabs themselves. For example my best friend got invited by her GP in March and the link in her text had two or three locations to choose from all about 30 minutes distance away but all within our borough. So I think it has to do with local availability/supplies in some way but not with your GP doing or not doing jabs.

It does feel like a postcode lottery...
Just checked the booking site and still no for me.

Sleepflower22 · 12/05/2021 08:35

I'm 38 and just got invite via GP, booked for tomorrow in North London

Sunny360 · 12/05/2021 09:19

Still a no for me on the booking site too (38). Feeling a bit left behind now... so many people I know were jabbed ages ago now! Fingers crossed its any day now 🤞

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 12/05/2021 09:44

I'm anxiously waiting for Dh, late 1982, to be able to book. He's been unexpectedly diagnosed (within the last fortnight) with a condition that means he was actually group 6 & works out of the home. I'm late '88 so have a while to wait yet.

BlackLambAndGreyFalcoln · 12/05/2021 10:31

I just got my GP text!!! Booked in for Saturday!!!! So relieved!!!!

OloBo · 12/05/2021 11:31

I don’t think this is about fairness at this point, it’s just a case of getting as many people through as quickly as possible.

Mufflete · 12/05/2021 12:55

Just got in on the website! 37 (May 83), Suffolk and there were tonnes of appointments to choose from, say more choice than for over 40s. I'm going tomorrow!

nordica · 12/05/2021 12:55

Sky News Breaking news now reporting:

"People aged 38 and 39 in England can book COVID jabs from tomorrow - reports

All those aged 38 and 39 will be able to book their COVID vaccinations from tomorrow morning in England, NHS sources have told the PA news agency."

Please let it be true!!!

CynsterBitch · 12/05/2021 12:59

37 here, north Hampshire, still a No on the national line for me too. And nothing from my GP either, feeling very neglected 😢

Are you saying over-40s are now only being offered AZ sites?
KatyaZamolodchikova · 12/05/2021 13:04

Just had my jab today. Had AstraZeneca despite being 33, 34 at the end of this month. Was booked in by my GP and have already had my second dose scheduled.

Should add that the GP went through everything with me and reassured me, I did have the option to decline and wait for an alternative but they couldn’t tell me how long the wait would be.

impatientlywaiting2015 · 12/05/2021 13:04

Just had a text from my GP (South Cumbria)- I'm 36 and getting the Pfizer vaccine this afternoon :-).

HairyFloppins · 12/05/2021 13:05

It's letting me book now on the national website now (Aug 81), haven't gone through with it though as I had a GP text the other day.

Herein98 · 12/05/2021 13:06

I literally cannot bear them doing it two years at a time like this, it’s torture!! Grin

I’ve heard nothing from the GP, still can’t get on the website. Any bets on when us 1984s will be? Start of next week maybe?!

Mufflete · 12/05/2021 13:08

@IndigoC no, I meant that I had a lot more options to choose from than my DP did when he booked (he's 42). Not sure what would come up for over 40s now, and there's no indication of what vaccine you'll be given when you go through to book.

PeasPeasPeas · 12/05/2021 13:09

Just booked! Dec 81.

Gotcha, thanks for the reply. They’ve been stockpiling Pfizer for the young for a while now, makes sense a whole bunch more options would appear.

EasterIssland · 12/05/2021 13:28

Someone from work has said "All those aged 38 and 39 will be able to book their COVID vaccinations from tomorrow morning in England, NHS sources have told the PA news agency."

LittleRen · 12/05/2021 13:31

@Herein98 more likely in the next day or so. They only stagger it to avoid website overload. Last time they released to over 44 and 45 year olds and my husband could book the next day (43).

LBOCS2 · 12/05/2021 13:46

Had my AZ last night - 36, Croydon Borough. Got a call from my GP inviting me last week, a friend of mine who is 38 had hers done at the same surgery last week.

whatswithtodaytoday · 12/05/2021 13:51

I'm in!!! And so is my DP! Nov 81 and Dec 82, booked for next week - I could have gone tomorrow but I don't have childcare. There were no appointments at the sites I know have always been AZ only.

Such a relief!

squiglet111 · 12/05/2021 13:52

I was just able to book on the website. 38 nearly 39. Was nothing available locally, but booked in next Sunday to a big vaccine centre quite far away from me.

vaxmeup · 12/05/2021 13:56

For those who booked in today- are second doses still 11/12 weeks away? Going to be trying the website every 5 mins from now on!!!
