What do we all think about 21st June date?

As it comes closer, my excitement for this date of lifted restrictions has started to turn into a big question mark - how can we go from the rule of six no no restrictions on meeting?
Is it realistic? I know no one can know, but what do people think? I have so many lovely dates pencilled into my calendar including children's birthdays and family weddings - will any of my pals have their big white July wedding?!

Can’t come soon enough

Mybigbed · 06/05/2021 21:46

I caaaaaannnnt wait!
But I think it will actually seem quite daunting when it comes to it

BonnieDundee · 06/05/2021 21:47

Nervous. I don't believe we will be back to normal or only back to normal for a very short time but I hope to be proved wrong.

vera99 · 06/05/2021 21:48

LET FREEDOM REIGN !

CovidHalloween · 06/05/2021 21:53

Nervous as I know it won’t end up well unless they really look after the borders to stop imported nasty strains- which won’t happen in a million years.
Did we learn nothing from the past year?

Travert · 06/05/2021 21:56

Cannot bloody wait. Met friends in a beer garden on Sunday and it was fantastic. Brilliant to be back out and about. Plenty of other people there too but felt completely safe. It’ll be great when we can actually go indoors.

Spectrumofhumanlife · 06/05/2021 21:56

Absolutely can’t wait.

worriedatthemoment · 06/05/2021 21:57

I admit dubious as well , but can't we meet more than 6 outside after march ?

worriedatthemoment · 06/05/2021 21:57

May 17th even , not march

userxx · 06/05/2021 21:58

Can't wait. When can we ditch the masks?

WingingItSince1973 · 06/05/2021 22:12

I dreamt that when 21st comes there would be everyone outside cheering 🤣 Absolutely can't wait but agree it will feel weird x

BewareTheBeardedDragon · 06/05/2021 22:48

Dunno, I've got a dc home bloody self isolating due to a case in school and I feel like I'm going backwards in time. Back to home schooling 😱

VikingsandDragons · 08/05/2021 15:14

Excited, cases are very, very low, I do hope that we've picked up pace with the vaccination programme by then though, as otherwise it'll just build up pace again amongst the unvaccinated children and adults who haven't had the option to get it yet which in turn will mean we have to reintroduce restrictions again.

Agree with this 100%

Crunchymum · 08/05/2021 15:30

Carrot and stick come to mind.

Even if everything is lifted on 21st June, doubtful restrictions will be back in place before hospitals move to winter protocol.

UnmentionedElephantDildo · 08/05/2021 15:30

Step,p 3 is 17 May - so confirmation Monday? with outdoor gatherings of up to 30, and 6 people (or more if it's only 2 households) indoors. Plus more businesses open, including bars indoors (table service only)

Reviews after that step to see if all remaining SD can be stopped over the summer. No move before 21 June, but we've been able to stick to timetable so far.

Yes, it does seem a bit weird that it might all be gone in only 6 weeks. Or at least gone for the summer (hopes for no or only few restrictions for the next winter virus season, but accept there might be different needs in cool, damp weather)

ineedaholidayandwine · 08/05/2021 15:34

Can’t wait Grin have a wedding to go to and my daughters whole class party arranged to make up for all the missed birthday parties.

Wizzbangfizz · 08/05/2021 15:36

Can't come soon enough and I wish they would bring it forward.

PowerhouseOfTheCell · 08/05/2021 15:37

Cant wait, its been too long since I openly coughed on a pensioner in Sainsbury's. The government has suppressed my human rights for too long Wink

LucilleTheVampireBat · 08/05/2021 15:37

Can't wait.

When were restrictions coming back announced? I've totally missed that Hmm
megletthesecond · 08/05/2021 15:38

I won't be going indoors or doing anything that will contribute to numbers picking up again, we're not quite out of the woods yet. Last winter was grim and I want my dc's in school next winter. Not off because everyone decided to socialise indoors all summer and a mutation sneaked up on us.

I can't imagine what it must be like trusting Johnson.

ResIpsaLoquiturInterAlia · 08/05/2021 16:09

Looking forward to it! Hope not be disappointed as doing all we can to make a difference before then. I trust most do the same with short term inconvenience for sustainable long term new normality.

Rockbird · 08/05/2021 16:09

Never mind June, I can't bloody wait for the 17th May. There's a group of us desperate to meet and have a good old bitch about everyone over drinks and it's eternally pissing rain!

So do I but you can’t complain and be all holier than thou that people are doing something that they’re well allowed to do.

Don’t go indoors if you don’t want to but don’t expect everyone else to be doing it just because you are.
