Hello!

What do people think about hospital visits returning?

Thank you starting the thread pom❤

Roaring 20s a marvellous title

Hospital visits. Not sure when visitors on wards will be. Soon hopefully. Some people spend a lot of time in hospital. It must be hard.

I have had to go to A&E twice this month. Once in an ambulance and once as a walk in. North Middlesex Hospital were letting people go into the walk in part of A&E with family or friends. I can't imagine they did that before but don't know.

PomLikeTheBattle · 27/04/2021 19:43

Yes there are lots of discussions about visiting - we are allowing 1 visitor at the mo (London).

I suggest different trusts may say different things. Unless the government suddenly makes guidelines about it of something. Can't imagine that would happen though. In case it lead to infection and they got the blame.

tobee · 27/04/2021 19:47

For myself my old dad had a heart attack last autumn and we were unable to visit (obvs) even though the hospital he was taken to was 10 minutes from my house. My 84 year old mum was distressed. My dad even more so and had hyperactive delirium and kept trying to escape and fought a male member of staff Confused.

My dd had suspected appendicitis the other week and I dropped her off at A&E at 2 am to be seen to. She might be 25 but it still felt miserable to leave her.

And that's just my family's experience.

TruelyWonder · 27/04/2021 19:53

That is distressing. Horrendous what families have been through because of this virus.

Your daughter will always be your baby. Even when she is 40 with two kids.

Another thread is good news in itself 🥳

Hello !

springhasalmostsprung · 27/04/2021 21:24

Hello, long time lurker, minimal poster!

I hope hospital visitors are allowed soon too. My dad was in hospital in January and was very seriously ill... we had no idea that he was so unwell we could have lost him because we couldn't be there and no one even rang us to explain!

Looking for threads on a couple of topics.

The London Major election and Afghanistan (Not together Grin).

Had a search and can't find anything.

Anyone here seen threads discussing these topics?

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 27/04/2021 22:25

Just plonking my ample butt here so that I don’t lose you lovely lot. Great thread title!

TeaInTheGarden · 28/04/2021 00:25

Yay new thread!

Question for you positive lot- am I the only one to have recently memorised my NHS number..?! I can’t be.... can I?!

Furries · 28/04/2021 02:27

@TeaInTheGarden - hats off to you, I often mess up my own phone number.

Ergo, in my eyes, you are the only one!

I might have missed some posts. Have you been able to book your slot?

RainbowCrayons · 28/04/2021 04:19

I think visiting hospitals varies too. My grandma had to go in a couple of times and they have at least had someone in to help her. She doesn't have dementia or anything but her hearing aids keep breaking and she keeps telling people she has no follow up because she doesn't want to be a bother so now the doctors make sure the family know what the plan is

GiveMeNovocain · 28/04/2021 04:58

I'm in Cardiff and we started people in their 30s last week. Rates on the floor! Vaccination truly is a game changer! I had my first on 12 April (42). They seemed to whizz through people in their 40s in a few weeks 😀
