If you are under 45 and healthy, will you be having the covid vaccination ?

Apparently this is the next age group to be invited

I'm honestly not sure, as not keen on something so new, think I had covid early last year before they were testing

It's not any less safe for younger people. The cut offs are just about the risk/reward ratio
Sorry but with respect I don't agree with you there.

I'm 41 and had my first dose over a week ago.

I burst into tears as soon as I sat in the chair though because my dad died from covid 8 days before my appt. I had been doing fine until it just hit me.

Get your vaccine. If you don't want Az, go somewhere that is doing Pfizer.

My poor dad is a statistic now.

StarCat2020 · 26/04/2021 20:53

Bloody laptop posting things before I was ready.

The reason I don't agree is that different ages have (so far) had different occurrences of the clots.

OrangeBananaFish · 26/04/2021 20:59

I'm 42 and can book, but it looks like its limited supply ATM as there is nowhere remotely near me and those that are the nearest only have times when I'm at work anyway. I keep checking.

Really can't think of any reason why I wouldn't get it TBH.

DennisTMenace · 26/04/2021 21:01

Yes of course. I feel it is mine and everyone's duty to have it as I could still pass it on if I contracted it. I don't want to end up like India and am desperately worried for my friends there right now. 35 or so million people in this country have already been vaccinated, so it is a pretty big test sample population.

Also, really thankful that me and my kids don't need to ever contract smallpox and be horribly disfigured or die because people before me got the vaccine.

MrsKeats · 26/04/2021 21:02

Not this again. Sigh.

2X4B523P · 26/04/2021 21:06

I’m 40 with no health issues and had both doses as a care assistant.

OverTheRainbow88 · 26/04/2021 21:06

@JustinOtherdad

You wouldn’t be. Previously when you/people got norovirus, chicken pox, flu, cough, cold etc no one thought about who was responsible for giving it.

BlessedDD · 26/04/2021 21:08

Yes I know too many healthy people young so below 45 with long covid

Candycane57 · 26/04/2021 21:09

I'm 28, pregnant atm so no. I know many pregnant people have had it but I have history with difficult pregnancies and loss so would rather not risk it yet. I will be booking it when I've had my baby (I'm 7 months so I don't have long to wait)

In my hometown (Glos area) my 18 yo niece is almost ready for her second jab! DH is in his 40s and had his second a couple of weeks ago. Our early 20s neighbours have had their first (Near Norwich area)

TooManyPlatesInMotion · 26/04/2021 21:09

Yes. 41 and healthy. Not been called yet but will do it.

itsme7 · 26/04/2021 21:11

40 and I’ve had my first with second booked in. Didn’t hesitate when I was offered a surplus dose while volunteering.

Catsarecrazy · 26/04/2021 21:22

So sorry about your dad @NeverTalksToStrangers

AlmostSummer21 · 26/04/2021 21:27

Nobody forced you to open the thread - it was obvious from the title what it was about.

Sigh

@SweetPetrichor

I’m 32 and I will happily have the Pfizer vaccine but I’d really be questioning whether to accept the Astra Zeneca. I feel it’s a bigger risk to me than COVID. I’m hoping the will increase the age at which you get a choice cause I think I have the same reservations as someone under 30 does.
It's not whether you have more or less risk. Everyone has about the same risk. It's simply that the older you are the more reward you have from the vaccine.
AlmostSummer21 · 26/04/2021 21:34

@ProfessorPootle

44 and had mine today, am so grateful to be in a country with vaccines, have lots of family overseas who are not as fortunate
Which is no different to any other vaccine ever.

There really isn't 'a long term risk' because it's in & out of your body very quickly. Your body creates antibodies so that it recognises Covid & is prepared to attack it. The vaccine doesn't sit in your body.

AlmostSummer21 · 26/04/2021 21:36

@ProfessorPootle

No idea how it attached your post, certainly wasn't meant to!!

I have family overseas too...my mum is late 70's snd won't be getting it for months yet 😢

doadeer · 26/04/2021 21:37

Yes I am a carer for my son who needs me, I'm not high risk but if I contracted it and got sick my son wouldn't cope.

AlmostSummer21 · 26/04/2021 21:38
@AlmostSummer21 we don't know about the long term effects of the vaccine.

I am not anti-vax either, just prefer to wait a bit first...and I have had covid.
AlmostSummer21 · 26/04/2021 21:43
@AlmostSummer21 Over 80% of cases are mild/asymptomatic anyway. It’s hardly a case of ‘if you don’t get vaccinated you’re going to die’ Hmm
I didn't say you were. 🙄🙄

If you personally don't want to have it, please do feel free not to

This is not completely correct.

Different age groups do have different risks

StarCat2020 · 26/04/2021 21:46

Per 100,000 in above chart

AlmostSummer21 · 26/04/2021 21:50

@Lunar567

No way I will have experimental vaccine that has not been proven to be safe and effective.
Well then, aren't you fortunate to be being offered a vaccine that has been proven to be safe & effective!
