Apparently this is the next age group to be invited

I'm honestly not sure, as not keen on something so new, think I had covid early last year before they were testing

I’m 41 and I’ve had both of mine (NHS staff)
I had absolutely no hesitation in having it.

Chouetted · 26/04/2021 16:18

@LieLikeALoungeroomLizard

All the 41 year old if you've already had it, you must another reason for doing so such as your job or health reasons
All 40-49 year olds in my area have apparently been sent an appointment letter.

They're doing 25+ on the reserve list in case of no shows.

Not everywhere is quite as behind as your area

lurker101 · 26/04/2021 16:19

I’m in my 20s, no underlying conditions, got first jab last month, can’t wait for second dose.

Normandy144 · 26/04/2021 16:20

43 here and booked my first dose at the weekend and am having it on Friday. I'm sick of all the restrictions so if this means I can get back to normal then I'm getting it.

Spinningaround21 · 26/04/2021 16:20

My area still seems to be closely following government guidance so only 44+ I’ve lots of friends who are early 40s or late 30s who can’t wait now. Everyone wants some normality and hope this is the way to go.

Onesnowynight · 26/04/2021 16:21

40 years old and I’ve already had both of mine because of my job.

freeez · 26/04/2021 16:21

Yes, 43 and booked mine today. Over the moon.

eurochick · 26/04/2021 16:22

I'm just 45 and healthy. I had mine last week. I was very happy to take a step back towards some sort of normality.

MummyDummyNow · 26/04/2021 16:22

Of course! I'm 42 and booked in for next week.

MindyStClaire · 26/04/2021 16:22

Yes, absolutely. I'm in NI where we're on 35+ now. DH and I are 37, I had mine a few weeks ago due to asthma, but would've booked now if I hadn't been called. DH is (extremely) healthy and had his last week.

I am mid 40s as is Dh, we had our first jab back in mid-March. Nothing to do with jobs or health reasons, our GP surgery has gone through their priority lists and anyone above us has already been vaccinated.

Got a text message from the GP on a Thursday, appointments started at 8.30am Saturday morning. The whole of Saturday and I believe Sunday was back to back vaccinations.

Turned up with lots of others, checked off list, hands sanitised, handed a piece of paper, took it inside, nurse checked off check list of surgery, heart disease etc, handed it back and stood for 30 seconds until the next room was available. Dh and I were put in the same room and jabbed one after the other by a volunteer pharmacist. Done and out a different door all within 3-4 minutes.

Boood · 26/04/2021 16:23

I’m 45 so just outside your target audience. I don’t think there was any health benefit for me in being vaccinated and if it was a truly free decision- e.g. no threat of being excluded from doing things or going places without it- I wouldn’t have bothered. But there is, and I have no intention of being on the wrong side of that, so I had it. I’m not fussed either way, tbh.

One thing I really dislike is the trend of posting on Facebook when you’ve been vaccinated. I think it’s contributing to a nasty, tense environment where people are made to feel very anxious that they’ll miss out, or that they’re making the wrong decision. My older relatives have barely been able to talk about anything else for months and have worked each other into a ridiculous competitive frenzy over it. It must be very unpleasant for people in their twenties who know they’re at the back of the queue.

EvilPea · 26/04/2021 16:23

Yes of course. I feel it’s our duty to help prevent transmission and mutation.

I’ve a relative with long covid. It’s not nice.

BlackberrySky · 26/04/2021 16:23

But it isn't as new and untested now, is it? Loads of people have had the vaccine, including the very frail, and there have been hardly any bad side effects apart from a vanishingly small amount of blood clots that may or may not have occurred because of the vaccine. It's a civic duty to be vaccinated in my opinion.

Kottbullar · 26/04/2021 16:24

I and most of my friends my age have already had one dose.

DialsMavis · 26/04/2021 16:24

I am 39 and just got my text, I have booked but have a niggling thought I should wait until they decide about AZ for under 40's but then I might turn 40 before they decide anyway

OlympicProcrastinator · 26/04/2021 16:24

No that’s not true. Many places have already vaccinated under 45’s and have even started in the under 40’s groups without their being any underlying health conditions or job requirements. In my area there are a higher proportion of elderly people and a smaller population so the older population were done earlier in the year and they were able very rapidly to move on to the rest of us. I have my second one soon, I’m early 40’s and my sister who is late 40’s still hasn’t had her first jab. She’s in a different area.

Jennifer2021 · 26/04/2021 16:25

Happily.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 26/04/2021 16:26

Yes.
I know Covid isn't flu. But as a healthy 28yo I got flu. I was extremely ill. Low risk isn't no risk of illness. My children rely on me. Plus I don't want them to miss more school.

ShakespearesSisters · 26/04/2021 16:27

My husband, age 44 got the text today asking him to book, which he will ASAP. I've already had both jabs due to my profession.

SardineJam · 26/04/2021 16:28

Going against the grain and saying no. There will be enough other measures in place (negative testing etc) that means it shouldn't impact my life. I don't feel comfortable having a vaccine that hasn't gone through rigourous testing, but then I don't have the annual flu vaccine either...

Strokethefurrywall · 26/04/2021 16:28

I’m 41 and had mine. Live in a country with one of the best vaccine roll outs - all the elderly and front line workers are done, now it’s the rest of us.
We’re perfectly healthy but want to visit our families back in the UK and we need to open our tourism back up so it’s a massive yes from me!

BrownEyedGirl80 · 26/04/2021 16:29

Ive already had mine and I'm 41

Etsylicious · 26/04/2021 16:29

Hell yes.

Icebear99 · 26/04/2021 16:29

I'm 40 and have had my first dose - I'm fit, healthy, suspect I had it last year, but I still had it because my thought was it's about protecting vulnerable people who can't have it. And it's not a "new" vaccine, loads of people have had it and the oxford one has been in development for years.
