Apparently this is the next age group to be invited

I'm honestly not sure, as not keen on something so new, think I had covid early last year before they were testing

Yes. I want to go on holiday ASAP!!

Anatomical · 27/04/2021 13:58

Already had it as part of a vaccine trial. I chose to take part as I wanted to do my bit to get things back to normal. Was happy to have it and will take any boosters recommended.

Cheshiresun · 27/04/2021 14:22

Yes, I've had the first shot, early 40's. Not just for myself, to hopefully go on holidays but to protect others, like my parents. Especially as things are starting to open up again now, I'll feel more safer in having it.

Does anyone know if the Madejski Stadium only does Moderna or has anyone had Pfizer or AZ there? Just interested as booked there next week. My partner had his last week and had Moderna as has everyone else I know who's been there.

Id like to know this too as its local-ish to me
ForeverInADay · 27/04/2021 14:59

Yes had mine this morning. Had A/Z

Cheshiresun · 27/04/2021 16:31

If its like the other centres that are newly using Moderna, they have AZ there at the same time at least, if not Pfizer too. They tell you when you're about to be jabbed what it is.

envi · 28/04/2021 07:26

Yes! I can’t wait

Sparrowcrane · 28/04/2021 07:53

Not until the treatment trials finalise and there is information on long term side effects.

fruitandflowers · 28/04/2021 08:33

Our of interest @Sparrowcrane how long will that be?

Trayble · 28/04/2021 08:34

Yes

bishbashbosh99 · 28/04/2021 08:34

Yup

Shouldittcnow · 28/04/2021 08:36

Hell yes!

Aside from wanting to protect others from getting it, I want to travel and have my life back!

Skinnytailedsquirrel · 28/04/2021 09:26

@BogRollBOGOF - freedom of choice as long as unvaccinated don't mind NOT being admitted to venues, go on holiday etc etc that vaccinated people will be able to attend.

You are correct the more people who are vaccinated the better. Sadly our society is now rather selfish and some people will decide to act selfishly and not have the vaccine.

I’ve got appointment at Madejski on Friday as well. I’ll have AZ if that’s all that’s there, but hoping it’s Moderna. I know others have had Moderna there recently.
Lockheart · 28/04/2021 09:55

I will (32, healthy, very occasional aura migraines but given I take the POP and I'm ok with that level of risk of blood clots I'm happy to take the much smaller risk of the vaccine).

Each person vaccinated is one more hurdle the virus has to overcome to spread. Not impossible of course, but it reduces the chances of infection and transmission.

DdraigGoch · 28/04/2021 10:06

I'm 27 and had my first jab a month ago. I don't consider myself "vulnerable" (though my GP decided that I am, hence offering me the jab) so any reasons I have for getting it and suffering the severe hangover the next day are altruistic.

A new PHE study says that the first jab halves transmission so it is obvious that getting everyone jabbed is our fastest way out of this mess.

Choconuttolata · 28/04/2021 10:23

Already had my first and due second soon, so yes. I also have long Covid, so really don't want Covid again.

NattyDiamondDoll · 28/04/2021 10:30

No

HeeHawSeeSaw · 28/04/2021 10:35

No, not just yet . I will probably have the Moderna jab after a few months if it is made available to me and if there are no cases of clotting. We don't go to enclosed places much anyway and will not be travelling abroad this year as everything is so precarious anyway. Dont want to end up having to quarantine in a rubbish hotel with dc and pay huge amounts of money for it. I will definitely not be taking the AZ vaccine, its the cheapest vaccine available and costs about £5 for both doses and as the saying goes -you get what you pay for .

MrsFezziwig · 28/04/2021 13:43

The AZ is not for profit - might that have a bearing on the price?

Worriedandonedge · 28/04/2021 14:53

Yes

CaramelWaferAndTea · 28/04/2021 14:56

I am 34, healthy, fit, was a participant in the AZ trial but received placebo and have had both Pfizer jabs now (work in the NHS). Am absolutely delighted to have been vaccinated.

Exactly - it's not for profit. Most of the extra cost of Pfizer is going to feed the rich and some of our pension schemes through their share cost (some will be for the cold chain). Just to put that cost differential in perspective.
Vargas · 28/04/2021 15:01

BBC news today - One vaccine dose halves transmission.

Even if you don't do it for yourself, please do it for others around you.

And AZ isn't cheap because it's less good, it's cheap because they did it not-for-profit. FFS.
