Apparently this is the next age group to be invited

I'm honestly not sure, as not keen on something so new, think I had covid early last year before they were testing

42 years old. No underlying health issues. GP surgery had some AZ doses available last Wednesday for over 40's so I rang in & received mine on the same day. Sore arm is only side effect. Not doing it for myself but for people like my 95 year old Grandma & those who can't have it due to health conditions.

noblegreenk · 26/04/2021 22:43

I'm 36 and have had mine. They had leftover vaccines due to no shows and since I only live over the road they called me to see if I wanted it.

UserEleventyNine · 26/04/2021 22:49

Undecided. 43 and have been suffering with long covid for 13 months, really want to get better but also scared it may make things worse

Just for your information, as an interested party, some people with long covid who have been vaccinated have reported that their condition has improved. So far it's mostly anecdotal, there hasn't yet been a big enough properly controlled study to draw any firm conclusions. But scientists are looking at it.

Puttheneedleontheraquet · 26/04/2021 22:57

@UserEleventyNine I know 🤞 I so hope so, I’ve read of quite a few on the forums and really hoping it’s some kind of breakthrough. I’m not in the U.K. so will have to wait until just before Christmas (I think)
I will go for it, but v anxious about it.

ConstantlyChanging · 26/04/2021 23:02

You have had the first one. You didn't have a serious reaction to to it. You're not one of the Extremely rare number of people to get a clot afterwards. So what are you worried about?

They know the vaccine prevents serious illness & death.

Seriously. What more do you need to know?

I need to know what the true rate of the blood clot is, not one calculated by including literally millions of people in largely unaffected age groups. I need to know the risk for a woman in their 30s. That information is not available to me. I need to know why it is happening. They don’t know that yet. I need to know whether there are any OTHER risks from this vaccine that they just 100% did not expect and will be blindsided by like they were by this. I need to know what the risk factors are as they don’t yet know this. I need to know what the risk is for second doses in my age group as this is still emerging data.

I’m unlikely to suffer serious illness or death from Covid at my age. We DO know that. We know that the horrible flu like illness the vaccine gave me was probably more serious than any Covid would have been. So don’t bother touting the benefits of the vaccine as if they are all that significant for younger people because they really aren’t.

snowone · 26/04/2021 23:08

Yes - in fact I've already had it! 💉

Froglette16 · 26/04/2021 23:34

If you’re in London and prefer the Moderna vaccine go to Islington Business Design Centre, Guys Hospital or Wimbledon AFC . Plenty of spaces in all 3. Just wait for your invitation online and put in the postcode of the venue instead of your home postcode when booking.

Torvean · 26/04/2021 23:38

Don't wait if you're 18 up and haven't had 1 vaccination yet join this study. You get 2 vaccinations, no placebos.

I'm part of a study, and it's totally worth it.

Smokeahontas · 26/04/2021 23:42

Under 45 & health. Have had it (AZ). Bit of a sore arm for a day or two but nothing worse than an HIIT class or whatnot.

AzureHawker1 · 27/04/2021 00:02

Im 36 and think it will be a while before I’m offered it. When the time comes I will take it but more out of social responsibility than because I feel I need it.
I’m more worried about deciding whether my kids would have it if it was offered to them.. I think probably not but If they are offered it i would need to look at the stats properly before I made up my mind on it.

Do you know what the rate of blood clots is with Covid?

There is very little difference in the risk of blood clots no matter your age, and an absolutely ridiculously tiny risk of a blood clot.

You think your risk of suffering from Covid is low at your age, but you think it's too risky to have a second dose of a vaccine which has caused a tiny number of blood clots from the first vaccine (not the second) ?

The flu like symptoms you had after your first vaccine aren't dangerous. Covid is.

ABitOfAShitShow · 27/04/2021 00:28

Yes. Not a single moment of hesitation.

CoolCrazy · 27/04/2021 00:36

No, I won’t be having it.

StarCat2020 · 27/04/2021 00:44

The chart you posted is not the one the JCVI were using, but even if you say that's correct, it's still a really really low incidence rate
The chart I posted is the up to date data from the EU actual occurrences of these clots.

The JVCI chart is out of date now.

LavendulaAngustifolia · 27/04/2021 00:46

Already had both.

Figgyboa · 27/04/2021 00:47

39 and healthy, getting my second Pfizer shot on Thursday.

Redskyyy · 27/04/2021 07:37

@AlmostSummer21 actually that was a ridiculous thing for me to say. I guess I’m looking back thinking about the (blood clot) risk v the benefit. BUT I am so pro vaccine I don’t want that to cone across wrong, hence I jumped at the chance to be vaccinated when it was offered!

CeeceeBloomingdale · 27/04/2021 07:40

Yes, I’m having my first jab at the weekend

comfyslippets · 27/04/2021 07:45

Absolutely. Had my first, can't wait for second. Feel so grateful to live in a country where the rollout is so fast. I'm watching events in India with horror.

Dauphinois · 27/04/2021 08:02

Yes, had the first AZ last week. No side effects apart from a slightly sore arm. Would do it again in a heartbeat.

AlexandraEiffel · 27/04/2021 08:58

Yes I've had it. I analyse the heck out of everything so it's not without extensive thought.

There is no risk free option, I have to pick my risk. The vaccine risk is tiny and feels tangible, I know what I'm looking for. COVID risk is probably also pretty small for me, but feels less predictable.

If I am one of the tiny number of blood clot cases, I'd rather the hospitals had plenty of resources for me, so now is a good time. Again I think it's unlikely we'll see hospital overwhelm here again, but it's a risk and it's less predictable.

I want an end to all the restrictions and this feels like something I can contribute to that happening.

And mentally I feel less stressed by the situation post vaccine, which is a big deal for me. All the uncertainty and unpredictability is one of the things I've found hardest.

Vivana · 27/04/2021 09:18

I've ready had both of my jabs due to working in social care

BogRollBOGOF · 27/04/2021 09:20

I'm 40, fit and healthy and had the AZ just before Easter, just before the concern over AZ and clots escalated. While I've not been greatly concerned over the personal risk of Covid, I'm not greatly concerned over the risk of clots either, the general risk has been higher while on hormonal contraceptives or giving birth.

There are diminishing returns on benefits vs risks as people get younger. The more people who are vaccinated, the better the herd immunity for all, but that needs to be a freely made choice

LesLavandes · 27/04/2021 09:40

I have had my first AZ vaccination. I felt huge relief after. The feeling that I was safer from this awful illness and closer to freedom was amazing.

OP you can get Covid twice.

Etinox · 27/04/2021 09:54
