Apparently this is the next age group to be invited

I'm honestly not sure, as not keen on something so new, think I had covid early last year before they were testing

OP posts:
Notashandyta · 26/04/2021 17:39

42 and had first last weekend. Can't wait to get second.

In wales

thaegumathteth · 26/04/2021 17:45

I've in 30s and had if. No side effects but if I had had some then so be it

AlmostSummer21 · 26/04/2021 17:45

@DialsMavis

I am 39 and just got my text, I have booked but have a niggling thought I should wait until they decide about AZ for under 40's but then I might turn 40 before they decide anyway
@DialsMavis

It's not any less safe for younger people. The cut offs are just about the risk/reward ratio. So the younger you are, the less you're likely to suffer from Covid as badly so the reward of the vaccine is lower. The other thing is that it has been done on a national basis, with the national level being low, but if you live in an area with a higher level of Covid that the national level you risk/reward ratio changes. The graphs are really interesting and really show the very narrow margin of the decision was made on.

Plus - it was based on 16 weeks (standard period for these things) but Covid vaccine gives you protection beyond that AND protects you against lung Covid too. The calculation was only based on very severe cases of Covid, not just having it & being ill at home or long Covid. So again had those things been considered, the balance of having the vaccine would have outweighed not at any age.

The positivity on this thread is great. I believe everyone has a right to choose but I’m so glad I’m ready so many Yes answers.

Allmyarseandpeggymartin · 26/04/2021 17:49

Yes already had jab 1 as part of group 6 and I’m late thirties. Couldn’t wait to get it in my arm, feels very reassuring compared to Covid

saucermilk · 26/04/2021 17:50

I got mine booked for tomorrow.
Should I be having paracetamol before and after?

Chocolatepeanuts · 26/04/2021 17:50

Yes. I got mine in January due to my job. I work with elderly people. I lost my DGrandad to Covid last year. I've finished having DC. If I can help stop even one family going through what we as a family did last year, then it's worth it DH (38) got called at the end of last week and also took it without question.

XenoBitch · 26/04/2021 17:50

Nope.

AlmostSummer21 · 26/04/2021 17:51

@SardineJam

Going against the grain and saying no. There will be enough other measures in place (negative testing etc) that means it shouldn't impact my life. I don't feel comfortable having a vaccine that hasn't gone through rigourous testing, but then I don't have the annual flu vaccine either...
It's understandable that you wouldn't want a vaccine that hadn't gone through rigorous testing, but these vaccination have they were just able to do the stages more quickly as they didn't have to wait for funding at every stage- but the testing was all done thoroughly.

AND AZ has now been given to millions of people - what more testing would you need to have been done?

SweetPetrichor · 26/04/2021 17:54

I’m 32 and I will happily have the Pfizer vaccine but I’d really be questioning whether to accept the Astra Zeneca. I feel it’s a bigger risk to me than COVID. I’m hoping the will increase the age at which you get a choice cause I think I have the same reservations as someone under 30 does.

ProfessorPootle · 26/04/2021 17:59

44 and had mine today, am so grateful to be in a country with vaccines, have lots of family overseas who are not as fortunate

Wineiscooling · 26/04/2021 18:00

44 and healthy. Had both mine. (Healthcare worker). I've seen people die from covid (young and old) and I know many people who have had Covid and now suffer from long Covid. I feel lucky I've not had Covid and I'm also glad I've now had both I'm reducing the risk to others. No side effects from either of my jabs.

murbblurb · 26/04/2021 18:01

Covid is also new and you can get it twice, and it can make you very ill or dead. The odds on the jab doing either of those things are orders of magnitude lower.

Still, your choice.

daisypond · 26/04/2021 18:04

One of my DC, age 22, gets it tomorrow - lives abroad. It’s been made clear it’s a condition of employment.

DarceyDashwood · 26/04/2021 18:05

@LieLikeALoungeroomLizard

All the 41 year old if you've already had it, you must another reason for doing so such as your job or health reasons
Nope. I’m 42 and received a spare dose. So no, you don’t have to have had it for health reasons or your job. Also my DH is 43 and he was called weeks ago by his GP - again no health reasons. Many people are the same.
SlipperyLizard · 26/04/2021 18:08

I’m 43, had covid in November. Vaccine booked for Thursday, no hesitation in getting it booked.

hollieberrie · 26/04/2021 18:09

Nope. I'm 42 and I've had Covid. I'm still unwell with long Covid symptoms 14 months later. My body cant take anything else at the moment. I'll hope to get it later in the year when I'm more fully recovered. In the meantime I'm being very careful.

Catsarecrazy · 26/04/2021 18:11

Hell to the yes. Some of my colleagues have Long Covid and it’s horrible.

RidingMyBike · 26/04/2021 18:14

I'm 41 and had mine ASAP. Technically because of an underlying health condition - I was diabetic in pregnancy but at no higher risk now.

SardineJam · 26/04/2021 18:29

@AlmostSummer21 we don't know about the long term effects of the vaccine.

I am not anti-vax either, just prefer to wait a bit first...and I have had covid.

imamearcat · 26/04/2021 18:30

Yes

Eccle80 · 26/04/2021 18:34

Yes, I am 40 and will have it as soon as I can. I do have an underlying condition (asthma), but I am worried about the risks of serious illness and long Covid

Susannahmoody · 26/04/2021 18:37

Yes, and I've had covid already

Figgygal · 26/04/2021 18:37

Just turned 40
No risk factors
Yes I’d have it - not for me necessarily although I would like to avoid the risk of long Covid but for the other people that I might come in contact with. People need to think not about themselves as an individual but their place in a society in which vaccination programmes are protecting everyone

tatoowooo · 26/04/2021 18:37

No and not because I'm anti vax, I'm just waiting to see how it goes. What I mean by that is that, we already know it doesn't stop you from getting it as such and I won't be getting it if in a years time they say we need to get it every year. So I'm waiting it out for now...
