God!

Mayormaynothavehadit · 17/03/2021 16:52

Thought we'd just had a massive delivery produced in India?

Thatwentbadly · 17/03/2021 16:53

Where has this come from? Aren’t we expecting supply of the third vaccine to start arriving soon?

cathyandclare · 17/03/2021 16:53

Where did you hear that? Do you have a link so we can learn more?

LizzieMacQueen · 17/03/2021 16:54

BBC breaking news right now

LizzieMacQueen · 17/03/2021 16:55

This is some of it c&p

Summary
UK Health Secretary is to lead a Downing Street coronavirus briefing, due to start at 17:00 GMT
The NHS warns of a "significant reduction" of vaccine supplies from 29 March, in a letter seen by the BBC
It comes as European Commission head Ursula von der Leyen threatens to restrict vaccine exports to countries not allowing exports in a reciprocal way
Boris Johnson says during Prime Minister's Questions he will be having his jab soon and it will be the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine
All people aged over 50 in England are now being invited to book their coronavirus vaccine

ineedaholidayandwine · 17/03/2021 16:56

A letter from the NHS, seen by the BBC, has warned local health leaders there will be a "significant reduction in weekly supply" of the Covid vaccine from the week of 29 March, for a four-week period.

The letter says "volumes for first doses will be significantly constrained" and there has been a "reduction in national inbound vaccines supply".

The letter says from today, "the supply constraint means vaccination centres and community pharmacy-led local vaccination services should close unfilled bookings from 29 March".

Those centres should also make sure no more appointments are uploaded to the national booking system, or local booking systems, for April.

The BBC understands no one who has booked a vaccine already should lose their slot.

It’s not really clear?

Plus under 50’s not going to be vaccinated unless special circumstances?

SakuraEdenSwan1 · 17/03/2021 17:01

Watch Boris use this to extend lockdown, furlough already extended until September. So predictable.

cathyandclare · 17/03/2021 17:02

Looking at that tweet, it appears to refer to April, the time of restricted supply, not ongoing.

TheLadyGrayson · 17/03/2021 17:03

Oh no 🤦🏻‍♀️

3asAbird · 17/03/2021 17:03

I'm so confused only few days ago news said vaccines ramping up as moderna arrives.

www.cityam.com/downing-street-says-uk-eu-vaccine-row-will-not-affect-moderna-vaccine-shipments/

Has any vaccines been blocked or about to be blocked?
Seeks odd.

nordica · 17/03/2021 17:04

Well that's devastating news.

So many of my friends are celebrating feeling safe now (lots seem to have had early invites for reasons they don't even understand - no known medical conditions at all). I guess I won't get to feel safe for a long time yet. Sad

Magnificentmug12 · 17/03/2021 17:05

Why are they doing this!?

Figrollface · 17/03/2021 17:06

Great news for the EU, they are correct to ensue they also get fair access to supply after all the money they invested.

User133847 · 17/03/2021 17:06

Had a feeling this would happen once we got to April. The concentration would be on second doses rather than the remaining first.

LoudestCat14 · 17/03/2021 17:06

I just heard him say that too and was like 'whaaaat???' No jabs for under 50s unless special circumstances? WHY?
dingit · 17/03/2021 17:08

This all stinks

cathyandclare · 17/03/2021 17:09

@LoudestCat14

It's only until groups 1-9 are vaccinated. It's to ensure there's enough supply for the priority groups and the 2nd jabs within the time limit.

In some areas they're vaccinating healthy 30 year olds, which is fine when supply is good- but not when there's a temporary lull.

Rosehip10 · 17/03/2021 17:09

Don't they just mean under 50s not to be booked for now? Look at the number of people on MN saying they have been offered it when it their 40s as their area is ahead

paxman · 17/03/2021 17:11

I’m angry and frightened. Schools are not COVID-safe and I was looking forward to being vaccinated and feeling a little less anxious about being at work.

HSHorror · 17/03/2021 17:11

Ive just booked!

LoudestCat14 · 17/03/2021 17:12

cathyandclare Ah, that sounds more likely, I think he just worded it rather clumsily. I am happy waiting until all the vulnerable 1-9 are done, but he made it sound as though we weren't getting it all! It is hard though when you hear people younger than you are having theirs already.
