AstraZeneca side effects

KarenMarlow3 · 19/02/2021 12:47

Has anyone had side effects after more than 10 days? I'm feeling tired, and slightly nauseous, I had the AstraZeneca on 10th February.
Is it me being a hypochondriac, or is there something else going on? I can't get a doctor's appointment, there aren't any, up to and including 19th March.

Could you have covid? Or another virus ?

Redannie118 · 19/02/2021 12:51

7 days on my arm is still so sore it wakes me up if i roll onto it, and theres a rock hard lump the size of a golf ball under my skin. Following with interest.

KarenMarlow3 · 19/02/2021 12:53

I don't think Covid, I never go near enough to anyone to have caught it. We have parcels delivered from Amazon but I wash my hands after opening them. Maybe a different virus, but again, I don't know how.

Redannie118 is this after the AstraZeneca?

I had my first dose of it yesterday. All was fine and arm with hardly a mark on it - compared to when I get my flu jab and it swells up and goes scarlet.

However today woke up with throbbing, sore arm (still unmarked) and strange fuzzy, shivery feeling and pain behind my eyes. Staying in bed for now. Friends who have also reacted similarly the next day, say it only lasts for one day.

Maybe your condition is down to something else?

KarenMarlow3 · 19/02/2021 12:57

I think it must be down to something else. I've not heard of anyone still having side effects after more than a week.

Pregnant?

WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants · 19/02/2021 13:03

There have been others posting who have had side effects for a couple of weeks.

I was feeling crap more than 10 days later, but I have underlyings and it's a bit difficult to tell side effects from various feeling crap things I get anyway, so I'm not much help 🤷🏻‍♀️

I'm still very glad I've had it. Roll on the second one!!

Hope you feel better soon 💐

Crakeandoryx · 19/02/2021 13:03

My DH has been really tired since he had his vaccine. He's not usually ill. He had the vaccine and had to put himself to bed for 48hours he was shaking and flu like. He's been tired out ever since but lockdown fatigue is also a real thing. We are both exhausted so it might just be that.

WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants · 19/02/2021 13:04

No matter how careful you are, there's still a risk you could get Covid. One way or another you have shopping coming into the house etc.

I did wonder about pregnancy too, but assumed you'd have ruled that out.

Lottie4 · 19/02/2021 13:05

It was more like a week for me, but I felt a bit tired and headache(y) with Astra Zeneca. My Mum has Pfizer and said she was tired for a couple of weeks.

KarenMarlow3 · 19/02/2021 13:09

The pregnancy comments made me laugh! I should have said, I'm 67.
I have a feeling it could be lockdown fatigue and a bit of depression. We never go anywhere or see anyone. We don't actually want to, of course, but I'm sure it has taken its toll.

I had my first dose yesterday, I currently feel like I've been hit by a bus, my arm hurts, my heads pounding, I feel really hot, dizzy and generally flu like. I hope it doesn't last long

Iremembertheelderlykoreanlady · 19/02/2021 13:34

I'd probably try and get a covid test/see GP after that long. New strain is presenting with very different symptoms

anormalperson · 19/02/2021 16:43

I felt awful after mine on the 11th, achy , hot and cold , got a bonus swollen armpit too Confused have been really tired since. I can see it getting slightly better but I have inflammatory arthritis so it's hard to tell whether it's the jab or that making me so tired now

Redannie118 · 19/02/2021 16:52

@KarenMarlow3 yes it was Astra zenecka

TryingNotToPanicOverCovid · 19/02/2021 17:22

My mum still is nauseaus and its 2 weeks in. I didn't think it could last that long...

From the sound of her friends the vaccine has hit harder than covid does for most people. But I guess you never know if you're the one covid would hit hard.

I'm going tomorrow and a bit worried about side effects.

NancyPickford · 19/02/2021 17:26

Following on from my post further upthread. I stayed in bed until around 2pm today, got up, showered and dressed and I now feel completely back to normal. A friend who also had AstraZeneca yesterday was up all night with a high temperature, phone in sick, but was right as rain by mid-afternoon.

Senso21 · 19/02/2021 19:46

Almost 2 weeks on for me and been feeling dizzy since day 3. Not sure if it’s related to the vaccine of just coincidence but I think I’m going to have to book GP appt about it. I had AZ too

TryingNotToPanicOverCovid · 19/02/2021 20:07

Im tomorrow and wondering whether to take paracetamol in advance!

turquoisewaters · 19/02/2021 23:53

I hope you feel better soon OP. Is it possible to get an emergency (same day) appointment with your GP at all (some surgeries do this)?

Please all try and complete the Yellow Card with the symptoms

@TryingNotToPanicOverCovid I had my AstraZeneca vaccine two weeks ago. Was quite ill for a few days.I’m now left with bouts of nausea, it’s driving me crazy. I get the nausea a few times a day, also feeling low mood and lack of energy, but that could just be me and not related at all. Anyone else feeling nauseous a few weeks after the first jab?

Houseofvelour · 05/03/2021 16:47

I had mine on Wednesday at 6pm.
Woke up at 2am Thursday morning (yesterday) absolutely freezing and violently shaking and then had to ask my mum to take the day off work to babysit the kids as I was so unwell. Felt like I had the flu.

Better today but just started feeling lightheaded and exhausted so going for a lie down.

teatimeandcake · 05/03/2021 17:14

I had mine this morning. Feel like I've got flu and have no appetite. Hoping I will feel better tomorrow.

teatimeandcake · 06/03/2021 07:59

Bloody hell I haven't felt so ill in years. I had chills, nausea, felt like I had flu. I had ordered an online shop and could barely get out of bed to bring it in. I woke up feeling hot and have a headache this morning.

I really feel for those that have had full blown covid!
