AstraZeneca side effects

KarenMarlow3 · 19/02/2021 12:47

Has anyone had side effects after more than 10 days? I'm feeling tired, and slightly nauseous, I had the AstraZeneca on 10th February.
Is it me being a hypochondriac, or is there something else going on? I can't get a doctor's appointment, there aren't any, up to and including 19th March.

Very disappointed here. Just a slightly sore arm. Without proper side effects I'm worried it's not working!!!

teatimeandcake · 06/03/2021 12:27

@bobbiester My Mum just had chills. I think it effects everyone differently. Glad you didn't feel ill

HildegardNightingale · 06/03/2021 12:38

@Redannie118 you shouldn’t have a rock hard golf ball size lump. Can you see anyone about it?

I agree that
@Redannie118
needs to seek medical advice but just to offer anecdotal reassurance my dd gets this with every injected vaccine, has done since a baby. The GP has never been particularly concerned about it.

Secrethidingplace · 07/03/2021 06:34

Had mine yesterday afternoon and so far, nothing really. Arm hurts a little bit. Barely anything though. Oxford Az.

Bunnyfuller · 07/03/2021 06:44

Had mine yesterday afternoon. 6ish started getting a headache, and feeling a bit ropey. Woke up this morning at 0530 ffs with same headache.

MRex · 07/03/2021 06:55

You may be ill with something else non-viral, coincidences happen too. Within the first 48 hours you need to shrug off side effects as vaccine (though still report them on the yellow card scheme), but beyond that you ought to speak with a doctor who can ask lots of questions about your symptoms and look at your medical history.

Elcantador · 07/03/2021 12:19

The doctor who did mu jab said that it is possible to have side effects for up to 2 weeks

RevolutionRadio · 07/03/2021 12:23

I felt ill for 3 days after. Arm hurt for about a week.

SendMeHome · 07/03/2021 12:28

@Redannie118 I had the same! And it went all red and hot. It’s been seen, it’s just a strong reaction for me and probably indicates I had already had Covid. There’s nothing they can do for it. The skin around it has started to peel like really bad sunburn now Envy

Incase that’s any reassurance!

curtainsforyou2 · 10/03/2021 13:13

I had the AZ vaccine 18 days ago. Very ill for first 24 hours then just a bit off for another 24 hrs (still worth it though and not to put anyone off... plus flu jab makes me a bit ill too).
So last night I have the worst headache all night and very sore glands. Same today but a bit better, except bit nauseous. Its fairly similar to when I had the jab (minus the chills). Honestly I don't think I have covid (I have also had covid) but I'm pretty convinced this is still after effects of the vaccine. Doesn't feel like a proper illness or something developing but my body fighting something. Bit grim.... can't find any real evidence on this either. Hope the 2nd one is better.
Still worth it though... and for anyone worried when I say unwell I mean 'duvet day' unwell.

Sallyjaya · 12/03/2021 16:02

Hi Karen, I had exactly the same, for at least two weeks after the vaccination. Today is the first day of no nausea (it’s been three weeks). And although the bouts of nausea don’t stop me from doing anything, it’s annoying. I’ve also suffered low mood and just no energy. It’s comforting to know that I’m not the only one.thanks for sharing.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 12/03/2021 17:43

Had mine yesterday. Was ok yesterday evening but feeling fluey today. Had a couple of naps in between work and not too bad.

Lupinhere37 · 12/03/2021 17:58

I had mine yesterday.
Feel fuzzy and shaky all over, sick, very hot and aching legs. Weirdly, the arm that I had the vaccine in is very sore but the other arm matches it, as if I’d had two vaccines.
Really hoping this doesn’t last long.....

RachIsMyName · 02/04/2021 05:50

I had the AZ vaccine on 30/3 and initially had aches, pains, fatigue, headaches, dizziness & short term memory loss. Although it's only been 4 days, I'm still really tired and sore.
From what I understand, the AZ vaccine is derived from a weakened cold virus that has been modified to replicate covid 19. And it's not uncommon to have side effects up to 14 days (but most resolve within a couple of days).

GrumpyHoonMain · 02/04/2021 06:01

If you’re approaching your period the side effects can be worse. Drink lots of water and rest

baroqueandblue · 02/04/2021 20:26

Had mine yesterday morning, first dose AZ. Initially felt ok but woke up around 3 this morning and couldn't get back to sleep for hours. Since getting up around 10 I've felt achey, shivery, tired, been back to bed and slept for a couple of hours this afternoon, and even turned down the chance to meet my nephew and niece and their folks in our local park (which isn't like me). Mostly I feel very low and not anxious about having had the vaccine but heightened anxiety regarding noises outside and that sort of thing. Oh, and ringing in my ears which is irritating. Feels a bit like the comedown from being on antidepressants, if anyone can relate to that?

Supposed to be going out to meet a friend for coffee and a stroll tomorrow (first time in months) but pretty sure I'll cancel. Feel lousy, but know plenty of people who've barely noticed any ill-effects.

TiggerSnoozer · 06/04/2021 08:33

Starting to worry about OH as he had his vaccine 2 weeks ago today but is still feeling very off. It's really his mind that's most affected - he says he feels slightly delirious the away you feel when you have a flu bug / fever but he has no fever. Can't focus on anything. He had about 5 days in the middle where he felt ok again but it has returned. Has anyone else had anything like this? Going to consult GP today.

KinkyFink · 06/04/2021 13:26

I had mine on Saturday. Nothing happened until the evening, when I was violently sick for a few hours, couldn't even keep water down. I was also delirious the entire night, twitching and sweating. Took some buccastem in the early hours (second one after I threw up and lost the first tablet that you have to put under your lip against the gum) so I could keep down some co-codamol and then it suddenly all stopped. Felt fine the next day but now I feel really weird again.

I don't regret having it but I'm really dreading the next one. I've never had any side effects from a vaccine before so I didn't expect it really.

I thought it was odd that they kept asking me if I would have someone with me all weekend - I live alone and have no emergency contact and I can't be the only one surely?

KinkyFink · 06/04/2021 13:27

I've said 'really' far too much there

Health2021 · 03/05/2021 21:30

Karen, it is not in your head, the Doctors are now connecting the blood clots experienced from AstraZeneca to a platelet they call PF4. I am going into my 10th day and still experiencing headaches and nauseousness, I am 54 and I cannot recall having these symptoms for a long time now (in excess 20 years) I just don't get sick with these symptoms.I had my shot 10 days ago, always question and read more so you can make an informed decision. The rare blood clots linked with AstraZeneca were rare as I heard many Doctor's say, but it became real when someone I know very well informed me of a death in their family. I have read that the issues linked with blood clots seem to form within two weeks, but the Doctors cannot be certain theybare waiting for more trials, studies and stats from people like you and I . I hate feeling scared about doing the right thing, as a side note all my friends that took it , symptoms lasted max two days. Hope this helps, just please do not dismiss your symptoms. I double mask, use sanitizer religiously ect.... Covid is serious and can impact anyone, but research everything you question and please do not ignore your symptoms, you know your body better than anyone.

Hope that helps.

RachIsMyName · 05/05/2021 11:39

Going on 44 days now and still tail ending fatigue & dizziness (other symptoms have mostly resolved). New symptom of breathing difficulty though.
And yet, other people I know have had zero symptoms. I guess it's the luck of the draw really...or Russian roulette.

MiaRoma · 05/05/2021 15:04

I sympathise. 8 weeks and counting. Tinnitus and neuralgia/head and neck pain. The GP has said I don't have to have the second AZ but he would like me to have the Pfizer as my second and the Pfizer in the autumn.

Health2021 · 05/05/2021 20:38

I would not ignore breathing, consider blood work or CT scan. As far as second shot being different from the first, I believe they are looking into that, I don't if any authority has come out and said its safe. I definitely want to do that though.

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 05/05/2021 20:44

Weak and really flu-y with chills from the first injection.

Broke out in itchy hives from the second which got infected.

It’s been horrendous.
