Vaccine offered to all 16-65 year olds at my GP

Surprisevaccine · 18/02/2021 18:37

That's what's happened at my GP and I had mine today, 27 no underlying health conditions. Has it happened at anyone elses?

Wasn't expecting to receive it until the Autumn!

What location are you in?

Bluebolt · 18/02/2021 18:54

How does the system cope?

LizzieSiddal · 18/02/2021 18:56

It’s supposed to be those between 16-64, who have underlying health conditions. The GPs have obviously got a bit mixed up.

MadisonMontgomery · 18/02/2021 18:56

Slightly baffled by this - we are only getting one or two vaccine deliveries per week, so if we just offered to any rather than sticking to the groups, people would have to wait who are more vulnerable 🤷🏻‍♀️

Oblomov21 · 18/02/2021 18:57

This is a mistake. You should only be Group 6, if you have a listed clinical condition.

Surprisevaccine · 18/02/2021 19:01

Not a mistake. I called up in advance and spoke to the receptionist as was worried it was. I also then spoke to the two nurses today who gave me the vaccine.

I'm in W. Sussex.

Maybe your GP records had a typo and had you recorded as being 6cm tall. Grin

BIWI · 18/02/2021 19:06

Yep. We're group 7, but both DH and I have already had our first vaccine.

Our surgery must have a younger demographic, so they're just working through them .

Fantastic! We should all be pleased/grateful Smile

mrsm43s · 18/02/2021 19:07

We'll I'm just over the border in Surrey, and we're not even onto the Gp 6 Clinically vulnerable yet. Honestly, it's a travesty if healthy 20 somethings 5 miles away are taking priority over the vulnerable here. I doubt it's happening though.

WineInTheWillows · 18/02/2021 19:09

Just placemarking for curiosity's sake.

Surprisevaccine · 18/02/2021 19:10

@mrsm43s do you mean you think I'm making it up?!

OP posts:
SplendidSuns1000 · 18/02/2021 19:13

It just depends on whether or not your surgery has got through the other groups quickly. My local surgery raced through over 80s but slowed right down going through over 65s. Just depends on who's in your local area.

Fullofpudding · 18/02/2021 19:17

I'm 43 and have had mine. As have lots of others from the same doctors. They are flying through doing 30 jabs at a time!

GameSetMatch · 18/02/2021 19:21

Back to the old postcode lottery!

Surprisevaccine · 18/02/2021 19:23

@Fullofpudding yes it was really efficient, I couldn't believe how quickly I went through. Felt very proud of the NHS!

I'm still really surprised though because it doesn't match up with how it's talked about in the news. I guess there must be really varying rates across the country so they think it's safer to keep quiet that some areas are much further advanced.

thatwouldbeanecumenicalmatter · 18/02/2021 19:25

I thought the NE England was way ahead with vaccines, locally they've just finished the 65+ group, how come other areas are way ahead now?

mrsm43s · 18/02/2021 19:25
@mrsm43s do you mean you think I'm making it up?!
No, actually although it sounds like that (and I apologise for that) what I meant to say is that I doubt it's happening as a matter of policy. Not least because I know many people in Gp 5 & 6 in W Sussex who haven't been jabbed yet. So either your surgery has gone rogue, has made a mistake, has you classified incorrectly or you've misunderstood.

2anddone · 18/02/2021 19:28

I had mine today...43 no health conditions. I had taken my friend for hers and they had had a cancellation so told me to go in. Our dr knows what I do for a living (childminder) and told me to let anyone in childcare or education who is registered at the dr to ring and get on a reserve list as they are trying to get all childcare/education done at the surgery with any leftovers before schools return.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 18/02/2021 19:28

I can believe it. I had mine today. I'm 59 with no underlying conditions. The only reason I can think I was offered it was (a) I'm on the flu jab list (from 2019); (b) this is Inner London, so mayby there's been a broad brush approach that this is an area of high deprivation; (c) my husband has a couple of health conditions that put him on the priority list and they know I live with him. I did actually query why I was being offered the flu jab back in 2019 and nobody knew, they just said I was on the list so I had to be offered it. This time I didn't bother querying it as it would have wasted NHS time. I'd been expecting to get it by April.

borntobequiet · 18/02/2021 19:29

I expect it’s just a common or garden miracle. These things happen.

mrsm43s · 18/02/2021 19:29

Yep, West Sussex are moving g into groups 5 & 6, like the rest of the country

That's great op!

HelloThereMeHearties · 18/02/2021 19:30

W Sussex is doing well. So is E Hants.

SarahLox77 · 18/02/2021 19:35

I know lots of 50-somethings who've had one, and a few 40-somethings. No known health conditions. North London.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 18/02/2021 19:37

On the news and on other threads here there are many reports of people not turning up for appointments, so perhaps they are over-inviting.
