That's what's happened at my GP and I had mine today, 27 no underlying health conditions. Has it happened at anyone elses?

Wasn't expecting to receive it until the Autumn!

@thatwouldbeanecumenicalmatter

I thought the NE England was way ahead with vaccines, locally they've just finished the 65+ group, how come other areas are way ahead now?
Because they've taken our vaccine and given it to southerns probably.
bbn81 · 18/02/2021 19:42

I was about to say, it is not necessarily a good thing. Different areas aren't rushing through. There is only a certain amount of supply. If they are getting through the groups it can mean those who are more vulnerable are not wanting/not turning up. This is not a good thing as those most likely to be seriously ill are not protected.

HelloThereMeHearties · 18/02/2021 19:43

West Sussex pensioners are not known for their anti-vaxxing, rule breaking ways Grin

GabsAlot · 18/02/2021 19:45

it must be postecodes my dh is 52 hasnt had one i know someone in the next county 50 who had it two weeks ago

supersonicginandtonic · 18/02/2021 19:45

This infuriates me somewhat and I feel the system needs to be fairer. Look at Jo Whiley and her sister who has disabilities.
My mum is 63, has epilepsy and is a carer for my brother who has Down syndrome as a heart condition yet my dad had to fight for ages on the phone yesterday to get her an appointment.

LegendDairy · 18/02/2021 19:46

I also had mine today. 35 yrs no conditions. I don't know if they have finished the the previous groups but I got an invite and booked it for a last minute appointment. east mids.

ComtesseDeSpair · 18/02/2021 19:46

Called up for mine yesterday - South East London, 34, no health problems whatsoever, very slim. I did ask if they were sure and if I wasn’t accidentally on a priority list but they said not. DP is registered at a different but close by practice and hasn’t heard anything though.

ParkheadParadise · 18/02/2021 19:47

My nephew's partner had her covid vaccine yesterday. She's 25 with no underlying health conditions. She phoned up to question it. Turns out it was all above board. 2 of my siblings are with the same practice and haven't had any word yet.

AndreaMartelsCoat · 18/02/2021 19:48

I'm not sure if I'm going to come across as a grumpy, fed up human but I'm over 50, should've been in group 4 and have heard diddly squat.

The system does seem to need to be fairer.

NovemberR · 18/02/2021 19:53

This is upsetting because my teacher friend - 48 with chronic asthma - has just been knocked off the list in Group 6 apparently. Asthmatics are now apparently no longer in danger from Covid...

She's really worried about catching Covid and there is no date in sight for her to be vaccinated. And yet others across the country who are not vulnerable are apparently being done. She's asked her GP surgery if she can get a cancellation or if there is any left and they were extremely huffy and told her to wait her turn.

Which is now likely to be sometime this summer.

HelloThereMeHearties · 18/02/2021 19:54

The problem is that "the system" comes down to CCGs and GP practices. You can't make them all good, and they will all have different demographics and issues to deal with.

MarshaBradyo · 18/02/2021 19:54

Wow well done

JoannaDory · 18/02/2021 19:54

Friends in Suffolk in their 50s are being vaccinated; in fact most have already been done and the last has an appointment for next week. Currently in London and my 70 year old neighbour can't get a vaccination and only one of my ECV friends in their early 70s has been jabbed. Still some way to go here I think.

ashmts · 18/02/2021 19:55

The system absolutely does need to be fairer. I'm vaccinated through work but my parents are in their 50s, diabetic, and haven't heard anything. My gran was also one of the last of the over 80s to be invited for her jag. If surgeries/health boards have leftover vaccines, there needs to be a system to return them for redistribution nationally to the appropriate groups. It's appalling. Especially as we're being told the program will slow down due to supply issues.

mangothoughts · 18/02/2021 19:55

I am somewhat horrified by this! How unfair that some areas haven't even got through the over 60s or those at higher risk due to health conditions and in other areas healthy 20 somethings are being vaccinated.

I understand that sometimes there are cancellations, or spare jabs that would be wasted at the end of a day, but to be happily vaccinating a group of healthy young people ahead of those more at risk is just crazy! Surely different GPs/practices could help out those nearby that are further behind??

You can't do that with the Pfizer jab. It has to be used up in a short time limit.

Blimey I’m SE London too, 47 no underlying issues but no call yet

Wonder if we’re close in areas

Thimbleberries · 18/02/2021 19:58

This is really bizarre. And especially giving it to 16 year olds, who is hasn't been licensed for yet, as I understand it (healthy non-vulnerable ones, anyway). I can see if an individual practice needs to fill slots and have gone through all their vulnerable and over 50s patients, but not a routine thing. Mistakes or misunderstandings or misinterpretations by the practice of what's allowed seem likely rather than a general policy, surely?!

GintyMcGinty · 18/02/2021 19:58

Lucky you.

My parents are 74 and 71 and only got theirs today.

I'm under 50 but with an underlying condition but as I'm Scottish I will need to wait for I'll May.

Florelei · 18/02/2021 20:01

Whilst I’m pleased for all of you who are getting vaccines, if it is true that 20 somethings with no health conditions are getting vaccinated in certain areas, this is outrageous.

We are in the north east and we were told that because we did so well with the over 80s we needed to wait until other areas caught up. We have only just started on group 6 in my local area.

HelloThereMeHearties · 18/02/2021 20:03

I think a lot of it is down to the speed with which people can respond, if there are leftover vaccines at the end of the day/week. They can't be stored, or sent somewhere else. So whoever can, gets them.

HelloThereMeHearties · 18/02/2021 20:03

And anyway, every vaccine lowers the risk for everyone.

Floreatfloruit · 18/02/2021 20:04

My sister is in Suffolk, 53 and in group 6 for underlying health condition. She has not been done. My mother is 80 and was only done at the very end of Jan, also in Suffolk.

Bluebolt · 18/02/2021 20:04

I know two under 25s who have on Facebook put the vaccination profile up, both saying no underlying conditions. One is a recovered anorexic and the other has attempted suicide. Most people don’t know so lots of raised eyebrows. My area are still finishing CEV.
