Annoyed by order of vaccine rollout

My mum has missed out on being included in the over 65 group by a few months. People ahead of her include those with self inflicted conditions (such as my morbidly obese cousin) and carers. Anyone else annoyed by the order of the groupings ?

Oh FFS here we go again. Hmm

dementedpixie · 16/02/2021 19:59

No

dementedpixie · 16/02/2021 20:00

Those fat people stealing all the vaccines!

Pootle40 · 16/02/2021 20:00

Surely it's only an additional couple of weeks.......it is what it is. Don't have the energy to care but since you ask.....I wouldn't have vaccinated people over average life expectancy ahead of others and frontline workers. I personally think that's a waste of vaccine.

lljkk · 16/02/2021 20:00

Ooh, Let the covid-vaccine envy bingo commence!!

put a mark on that square...

bababra · 16/02/2021 20:00

damn those carers for looking after vulnerable people for a pittance. Ffs Biscuit

Waxonwaxoff0 · 16/02/2021 20:03

No. The most at risk get the vaccine first. Simple.

SummerHouse · 16/02/2021 20:03

No. It's based on risk. I have zero interest in whether any condition might be perceived to be self inflicted. I also think carers should be near top of the list.

TBH I don't think you will find much support for your views.

GintyMcGinty · 16/02/2021 20:03

Give your head a bloody wobble

They are ahead in the queue because they are more likely to die.

tangoboxing · 16/02/2021 20:04

well since the aim of the vaccine roll out is to reduce deaths & limit health burden on the NHS - NOT to punish people whose behaviour we consider unwise or those unlucky but altruistic enough to be unpaid carers - no I don't have any problem with the prioritisation.

RigaBalsam · 16/02/2021 20:04

Self inflicted carers. My sister would give anything for my nephew to not be autistic.

Sirzy · 16/02/2021 20:05

I am a carer. I have had my first dose.

My child is 11 so can’t have the vaccine. He has been shielding for most of the past year.

He had to be cared for by people who have had special training in his conditions. Thanks to covid restrictions I am the only person trained to give his emergency injection for his latest diagnosed condition.

If I was to get covid and become ill then who would look after him?

lunalucie · 16/02/2021 20:05

Oh so now we are fat shaming are we? Nice. And damn those carers as well. I can't believe this is people's attitude, what have we become?

Shitzngiggles · 16/02/2021 20:06

Can't please all the people all the time. There will always be someone moaning whatever order they do it in. Horrible attitude you've got though. I'm a care worker, worked all the way through all this. No way was I going to turn it down when they offered it to me.

EL8888 · 16/02/2021 20:07

No. A line has to be drawn somewhere. People need to be patient and wait their turn. It’s not 100% effective anyway so it’s not the answer to all COVID based ills

rosie39forever · 16/02/2021 20:07

I hadn't realised I was a self inflicted carer for my severely disabled dd, if I'm taken ill with covid there's no one to take care of her and she'll have to go into care but hey ho totally bought it on myself 🤔

Armi · 16/02/2021 20:07

I’m going to have another cake now, to celebrate my morally reprehensible fatness. Cheers, all!

No. But I'm feckin annoyed by you. How dare you? If your mother was seriously at risk she'd be in a higher group. She isn't. So she will have to wait a few more weeks whilst people who might die get the vaccine. I hope your mother had more humanity than you, but it obviously hasn't taken in your case.
Mrgrinch · 16/02/2021 20:08

Well self inflicted or not, fat people are more likely to die.

You're being pathetic. So she has to wait a few more weeks, big deal. She hasn't "missed it by a few months". She's obviously not in that age category, by how many weeks/months is irrelevant. What do you think she will be able to do when she has it exactly?

quietyear · 16/02/2021 20:10

The vaccine isn't a reward for being good and keeping healthy.

Looneytune253 · 16/02/2021 20:10

Omg!! You would really want someone that had a greater risk of DYING to wait longer than your mum. selfishness

Seriously my having a disabled child is a self inflicted condition??? Or the fact my partners Mum is housebound and disabled is all his fault??

You do realise just how much it would cost the government if we decided "nah, this caring lark is self-inflicted, don't think I'll bother any more", don't you? Or how much it would cost if either of us got really sick and the 35hrs of care had to be funded by social services (and it's a lot more than 24hr care for my son, more like 25/8)

PlonkyPlink · 16/02/2021 20:10
Biscuit
quietyear · 16/02/2021 20:11

Also there are likely so many people in group 6 and they are all being funnelled through the GPs so group 7 will probably start before group 6 is finished.

JayAlfredPrufrock · 16/02/2021 20:11

I’ve had my vaccine as I volunteer in the community.

I’ve also just eaten six pancakes.
