I work in Bristol several times a week, as do many of my friends and colleagues. I don't know anyone who's been stopped - purely anecdotal of course. Yes its against guidelines, and possibly against the law, but honestly the risk of catching and ending up seriously ill from it at this point, particularly for those vaccinated, is so miniscule it's absurd.

My son was stopped in the firebreak the day England went into 2nd lockdown, on M4 by Cardiff at midnight. He was coming home from a deployment. Once he showed then his Forces ID badge and spoke to them, they let him come home. He has been back and forth a few times since then and has never been stopped since.

@Doilooklikeatourist

We’re Hywel Da ( carmarthen area ) DH and a lot of local friends who are late 50s had letters last week with appointments for first jabs at the show ground in Carmarthen ( one on Easter Sunday )
@Doilooklikeatourist DP's letter for the showground came today... oh me of little faith!
justasking111 · 26/03/2021 13:37

Have to giggle here for the English have they seen the forecast this weekend lol

Stopyourhavering64 · 26/03/2021 16:53

I've had 2nd Pfizer vaccine over a month ago ( CEV and NHS) and husband gets his first on Sunday....got a week of annual leave coming up, so I'll be heading to the garden centre at last! ( had haircut/colour yesterday)

Really ? Won’t the weather be crap for the locals too ? I find this sort of comment quite offensive
JesusInTheCabbageVan · 26/03/2021 18:37

Bit confused by this... people aren't allowed in from England yet anyway? So I'm sure they're not fussed about our rubbish weather!

Lupinhere37 · 26/03/2021 19:27

Hey @BlackLambAndGreyFalcoln, I live a few miles from the bridge. I’ve crossed it four times this week, going to and fro for car service. My husband has also crossed this week. We haven’t been stopped, neither have we seen any police cars.
I can see the old crossing from the end of my road; constant stream of traffic now for weeks, so they can’t be stopping anyone.

Jellykat · 26/03/2021 19:51

We noticed a huge increase in traffic and non local people wandering around today in our little Pembs town, i'm really dreading it Sad i know we need the trade, but its been wonderfully quiet and relaxed with everyone being so careful.. back to telling people to move out of my bloody way from doorways to let me out, and sprinting through non distanced hordes on market days..

justasking111 · 26/03/2021 22:15

It's just a change of scenery really if folks want to have a break, we're forecast snow tonight. So visitors may see white stuff on the hills come morning

tinytemper66 · 27/03/2021 06:55

I am just glad to get rid of the paranoia that I will be stopped going 7 miles to Swansea to care for a relative and shop there (because it is easier to do both at the same time as I work full time) Was worried I would be asked why I was in Swansea.

AlohaMolly · 27/03/2021 08:05

I suddenly feel really daunted by the knowledge that Wales is our oyster again!

Sadik · 27/03/2021 09:22

I got my vaccine invitation letter this morning! (51, in Pembs) It's for the 14th April at the mass vaccination centre :)

Daffodil1967 · 27/03/2021 09:59

@Sadik
Fab news Smile

CeeJay81 · 27/03/2021 13:52

It's good news but the Supermarket where I work was extra busy this morning. I bet they aren't all from Wales too.

How can they stop people from England coming? They can easily use someone else's address. Plus you can't stop second home owners coming.

You might bet but you do not know. Our caravan sites are letting owners back who are welsh owners, they may have pitched up in your supermarket this morning. My friend who works for a big caravan site group has been mad busy this week sorting out things for them
tinytemper66 · 27/03/2021 16:15

Huge queues going into Swansea at lunchtime today. I was going the other way luckily. Haven't see it like that since the summer.

Sadik · 27/03/2021 17:30

Quieter here than I expected - obviously people haven't got up their courage to make it out to the wild West as yet!

BestIsWest · 27/03/2021 17:34

I live near the main route from the M4 to the Gower. It was much busier than usual lunchtime when I was on my way home from Tesco. The queue to get in to Tesco was longer than I’ve seen it for ages too.

I was on Fabian Way. Queue going from at least Sainsburys to almost the Ibis.
Lupinhere37 · 27/03/2021 22:06

Tesco at 6.45 this evening; absolutely crazy. Loads of groups or couples shopping together. Social distancing totally abandoned, large group of teenage boys called in to use the toilets and were throwing items in the aisles.
I haven’t been to the supermarket for 6 weeks and this is the first time in a year I’ve been before 9pm, so it’s usually dead quiet. Complete opposite this evening. Seems all rules have been abandoned now!
Lockdown has obviously made me very antisocial because I was annoyed that other people had dared to go out when I was out! Clearly I’m going to have more problems adjusting than I’d anticipated Grin.

ImAllOut · 27/03/2021 22:24

Absolutely no change to my area of Torfaen really, did my usual weekly shop this morning with no bigger queues and went to my mum's garden for a tea before it got a bit drizzly. The park by me had more cars parked there but looked just as busy as a usual Saturday.

The pictures Wales Online have of the usual "hotspots" didn't seem particularly busier than a normal sunnyish March day. I've enjoyed the slight return to normality with a few more cars out and about.

CassandraKnew · 27/03/2021 23:02

@DdraigGoch

Anglesey is below 100 cases per 100k now. Perhaps Merthyr is also something to do with it, he knows that the moment that anything opens the trains to Barry Island will be packed with day trippers.
Less than 1% and the population is only 70,000 so 70 cases. About 5% of cases become serious so we are looking at 3 or 4 for the 100 case rate. The idea that we still have restrictions that might lead to more deaths in other health issues for those numbers really is quite ridiculous. They seem to think they can eliminate a coronavirus - they can't!
DdraigGoch · 27/03/2021 23:31

I know and I've spent the last six months (or more) whinging that my liberty is being restricted because of Merthyr (a place more remote to me than London).

Driving from Wrexham to South Wales on Friday evening (medical appt) and already there were caravans out and about. Then into Swansea yesterday for work and the M4 had so many caravans and motor homes, the queue westbound from Carmarthen was incredible
