The old one filled up before we could link a new one but here we are.

Ah, I was wondering why the old thread had gone quiet.

justasking111 · 07/02/2021 21:19

@IdrisElbow

These are today's figures.. more areas in red than there have been for quite a while. I find this concerning but have a vested interest in schools returning after HT and don't like the direction this is going in.. 😬
The figures should not be taken in isolation red means a worse day than the day before.

@IdrisElbow

I think the red here is showing that the rolling rate per 100k is higher than the previous week.. so not a day in isolation. Yesterday there were two areas in red, today there are more than that. Maybe, hopefully, it is a blip, but I don't think it is something to dismiss.
If we knew where those figures were coming from e.g. Anglesey where they have had outbreaks in Menai Bridge and LlanfairPG in care homes where you find cases spreading like wildfire. Then the normal testing in care homes does add to the figures. One care worker said she is tested three times a week. Conwy we have had a couple of care homes who have an outbreak again. Hospitals throughout North Wales have cases arising daily (unavoidable).

Now if they broke it down into health board, care homes, community transmission, workplace, I would be more interested, but they don`t.

justasking111 · 07/02/2021 22:59

I find the ONS statistics more useful, yes they are a bit out of date always but give you a better feel of what is happening in Wales, you can check your own health board if you wish.

@justasking111
The red means higher in the last 7 day period than the previous 7 day period. There could be a bit of catch up data which means they go back to green soon.

MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously · 07/02/2021 23:07

Thanks for the new thread. Just checking in. Am also feeling 'meh'. Highlight of the day has been ordering new masks from Boden! It's my DS birthday and I want to take him out for dinner. Mostly I'm okay but on days which should be special, I feel it more. Like everyone else, I guess.
Still, good news on the vaccine front, so hopefully things will start to look up soon.

I also agree about the Welsh stream immersion thing. My welsh is limited and its extra hard work trying to home educate my year 2 DD in Welsh. I'll be glad to hear more about them going back after half term.

HauntedPencil · 08/02/2021 18:19

I like those charts too - sure I've read somewhere that the figures last week might have been artificially low due to the weather & less testing - I'm just happy to go with the overall data. Hoping to see bigger drops than today though

HauntedPencil · 08/02/2021 18:20

Definitely meh here too. meh x a lot!

ThisIsSimplyBeyond · 08/02/2021 18:24

Hello hello 👋

Had my first vaccine two weeks back, and then spent 18 hours in a&e at the grange over the weekend. Hoping my vaccine has had enough time to “kick in” despite it being under three weeks... 😬

Also officially took my DCs out of school. They’ve been off since last March, I figured I might as well take over their education for a bit rather than deal with “homeschooling” from the school any longer.

Muchtoomuchtodo · 08/02/2021 18:27

Properly meh here today.
Dragged myself to work
Dragged myself around work trying to be smiley, happy and positive.
Now home from work and just cba
To be fair our 2 secondary aged kids seem to be faring ok, but I know next week will be a challenge when they can only meet with 1 friend at a time.

ikeairgin · 08/02/2021 18:33

Hello

I'm after some help, please. My elderly (80 years) father, who I've been unable to visit for a year - I don't own a car so it's public transport and holiday booking - which has meant that whenever we've been ok (Birmingham) he hasn't gah. Anyway he lives in Neyland, Pembs and his surgery wrote to him last week with a letter - saying "We will be in touch when we have an appointment for you, in the meantime if you wish to opt out - please sign and return this letter"

Can anyone help me find out WTAF is going on? I thought as he's in a high priority group, CEV due to cardiac issues, he would have been done by now. He can't call the number for a vax clinic further afield as he doen't drive

Thoughts? Thanks

@ikeairgin there is transport in Pembrokeshire for people needing it for vaccinations. Try Pembrokeshire council community hub and they will advise. Also he can say when booking his appointment as there are some community transport options available at the moment.

ArosGartref · 08/02/2021 18:54

@ikeairgin he should call his GP as per the advice from the healthboard here:

hduhb.nhs.wales/news/press-releases/people-in-vaccine-priority-groups-1-to-3-asked-to-contact-health-services-about-first-vaccine-appointments/

ikeairgin · 08/02/2021 19:00

Thank you. I'll have a chat with him tonight. He's been trying to get through to the GP today but the reception lady keeps telling him off for ringing.

ArosGartref · 08/02/2021 19:06

Complain to the practice manager

HauntedPencil · 08/02/2021 19:44

They are asking people to get in touch here if they should be done and haven't been - over 70 and CEV are being asked to call a booking line. Different health board though

DdraigGoch · 08/02/2021 20:43

If he is getting fobbed off then get him to ring the office of his local MS or MP. They're in a position to rattle cages.

Sorry, don’t know how to link but Hywel Dda Health Board seemed to have made a press release on 5/2/21 stating that all those “vulnerable or shielding” are to be invited to mass vaccination centres starting this coming week.
It’s a “fast paced programme”. However, they mentioned the CEV or 70-74 years.
I wonder if he’s been missed out somehow if he’s 80?
If he’s not called this week, in this apparent drive to vaccinate a whole load of people with the arrival of new vaccine supplies, then I too would email the practice manager.

Doilooklikeatourist · 08/02/2021 22:15

I live in Hywel Dda health area , the local surgery is jabbing 70 - 74 this week ( my 72 year old friend had hers this morning )

Hi! I'm slightly placemarking but will be back. Moved to the Llyn in November last year, have a Yr1 and Yr2 where English is first Lang so loads of catching up to do. I'm slowly learning the language for my own benefit!
Been bloody hard work this lockdown!
