@JesusInTheCabbageVan

No-one here understand it either, friend's in tourism have given up on drakeford, he will confirm nowt bar education date wise

When we come to the election, we should all write on the card "I haven't decided yet. Will let you know the day before the changeover's meant to happen."

We’re Hywel Da ( carmarthen area ) DH and a lot of local friends who are late 50s had letters last week with appointments for first jabs at the show ground in Carmarthen ( one on Easter Sunday )

Jellykat · 25/03/2021 20:10

If the result of the elections isn't either a Labour-Plaid coalition or a minority Labour government propped up by Plaid I'll be amazed.

Sadik · 25/03/2021 20:32

I'm in Pembs and in the 50-55 group. I saw an update on the Hywel Dda hub saying our group would be done in the mass vaccination centres starting from 4 April.

Thanks so much, really appreciate that. Fingers crossed!

Ah, ok - I think he might have to chase in Carmarthenshire! 53 so not on the cusp. Thanks so much for replying :)

I think 55-59 are under way now, we're next!

Sadik · 25/03/2021 21:02

Just keeping all my fingers & toes crossed that the various export restrictions in India etc won't make the whole thing grind to a halt before it reaches us!

ASurfeitOfMammoths · 25/03/2021 21:11

Yeah, that’s what made me wonder... CAV telling people here to get in quick by 29/3 before the stock shortage!

mejon · 25/03/2021 22:06

We're in Hywel Dda - in Ceredigion. Last information I saw said that over 50s would be contacted by the 5th of April with an appointment at one of the vaccine hubs. DH turned 50 last week and is chomping at the bit. I'm hoping something will arrive in the next week or so.

MerchSwyddEfrog · 25/03/2021 22:11

@ASurfeitOfMammoths

prynhawn Da, pawb :)

Been following all the way (very gratefully!) but finally have a question, and wondered if anyone had any inside info!

Does anyone in Hywel Dda (more specifically, Llandovery way) know what’s happening with first jabs for over 50s? Cardiff & Vale put out a FB message in the last couple of days asking anyone over 50 yet to book to get it done by 29/3, implying that that population has been called - but my DP in Carmarthenshire has yet to hear a thing, and calls to the surgery to enquire aren’t being taken. Hywel Dda are openly asking people not to enquire about their second jab, but nothing about those still awaiting their first.

Anyone seen/heard anything for over 50s, please?
Diolch :)

Where did you see this post about Cardiff and Vale as I haven’t seen anything? I’m in Cardiff and my dh is 50 and hasn’t heard anything yet. The vaccine progress is really slow here,
justasking111 · 25/03/2021 22:29

In North Wales we're still doing group 6 vulnerable and starting on 60 year olds, that's a long list. 2nd jab for vulnerable 10 to 12 weeks I was told last week so will be June before I see a second dose. Hope the first jab offers enough protection to the vulnerable it's a long 3 month waiting

DdraigGoch · 25/03/2021 22:38

Remember that the second dose is mostly for longevity rather than increased protection.

Bore da. so stay local had gone but travel only within Wales and six can meet outside.

Hard to know how busy places will be over Easter. I live near to border so a lot of of our tourists come from the other side. Pen-y-fan will be hooching but plenty of other mountains to explore.

Ymlaen · 26/03/2021 07:53

I wonder if tourists will still try to come over the border? I live in a very popular area, it would be nice to have a couple of weeks over the Easter holiday to enjoy the area.

Haywire · 26/03/2021 08:37

@Ymlaen I'm pretty sure some will still come over but I think self-catering places are being fairly strict re bookings from wales only so I guess people might come for the day or people who have their own holiday accommodation.

So excited about possible trip to see the sea or in fact anywhere that's not here. Just hope cases remain stable so my yr 8 can go back after Easter.

2nd jab for me today (social care worker) so feels like a good day.

DdraigGoch · 26/03/2021 08:51

Some day trippers kept coming through the strictest lockdowns. "Wanted to see the sun rise on Snowdon" indeed.

I wonder if the councils will open the loos, it's not like you can use a cafe, restaurant, retail, etc. Which means many will be stuck with staying local so they can nip home quickly

Daffodil1967 · 26/03/2021 09:31

I didn’t hear back about having a carers vaccination but Denbighshire are into the 50-55 age group now. BIL and I are booked for first vaccination at the end of next week.
Hubby had his second jab this week.
Hope there is some AZ left for mum’s second one. Smile

ASurfeitOfMammoths · 26/03/2021 09:41

@MerchSwyddEfrog Looking again, it came from someone sharing on my local community page. The ‘advert’ from the mosque has the CAV logo, and I’ve seen elsewhere about local mosques working with the health board for mass vacc. so I’m assuming it’s legit! Might be worth giving them a ring, see what they say?

Does anyone know what the situation is with the bridge? We had planned to meet our family who live in Wales outdoors in England in April (before the 12th though). From an infection perspective I think what we had planned is pretty low risk (meeting outdoors, will be social distancing and will not be hugging each other), but I'm just concerned that if the police are stopping cars on the bridge (I know it's happened before) then they could risk a fine for non essential travel to/from England.

Yes, they would be risking a fine. I don’t think you can predict when they’ll be checking. I live in Wales and my family are in England. We can now travel around Wales but not across the border into England. As much as I’d love to, I won’t be visiting them until allowed even though it’s now been a year since I saw them due to different local restrictions etc.
