Will the mask refuses ever be forgiven, do you think?

I don’t think people will forget who they were. I’ve seen a few shunned in school, and on the street, and what really stood out to me, is changing their minds and putting a mask on didn’t actually change the response they were getting from their community. The feeling was too little too late, I think

I can't imagine anyone holding on to that kind of petty grudge tbh.

sashagabadon · 02/02/2021 16:24

Eh? I have no idea who is a “ mask refuser” Confused

XenoBitch · 02/02/2021 16:25

That would be assuming people who did not wear masks were responsible for all the Covid and infections and deaths... which they were not. Masks are just one small weapon in the fight against Covid.

SageCardy · 02/02/2021 16:25

Give over.

redsquirrelfan · 02/02/2021 16:26

If I saw someone wearing a mask I wouldn't remember who they were, and if they wore one later I wouldn't notice.

If someone I did know didn't wear a mask but then did, I'd be glad they changed their mind about it.

If people are being "shunned in school" it's up to the staff to stop the bullying and if people are being treated badly in the community then I' glad I don't live in your village of idiots.

MaxNormal · 02/02/2021 16:26

Maybe when this is over gangs of you can publicly shave their heads to humiliate them.

starfish88 · 02/02/2021 16:27

How do you differentiate the people who can't wear a mask for a medical reason? Are they to be shunned too?

Rowenasemolina · 02/02/2021 16:28

Actually, I was wondering if we might end up with that sort of situation In the future

What?

IceCreamAndCandyfloss · 02/02/2021 16:28

I think some people will distance themselves from others who's behaviour they have found selfish.

I don’t think people do differentiate, do you?

Here's hoping. And if a few people who were exempt get caught up in it that's their tough luck, to be honest they shouldn't have been out anyway.

tangoboxing · 02/02/2021 16:31

Shunned? Seriously? Have you got too much time on your hands?

I doubt many people in the real world will notice, care or remember.

I do what's required of me legally & don't give a fuck what anyone else does ... & I don't know anyone who feels differently.

AuntyClementine · 02/02/2021 16:35

Yeah, I think they’ll be social pariahs and have to live like nomads, wandering from town to town or maybe have to live in the woods.

Or maybe people won’t give a shit and everything will go back to normal.

One or the other.

Max just to clarify, this is irony, sarcasm, you're being wry, yes?
WalrusWife · 02/02/2021 16:40

Will the lockdown hysteria crew ever be forgiven?
“Don’t kill granny”
“How dare you buy non essentials in a supermarket.”

Waxonwaxoff0 · 02/02/2021 16:40

I don't care who wears a mask and who doesn't.

Herja · 02/02/2021 16:43

I've not been seeing anyone shunned now, let alone in the future. You must live somewhere horrible.

MaxNormal · 02/02/2021 16:43

@FlibbertyGiblets it's scary that it's become hard to tell, isn't it Wink

BoredBeforelEvenBegan · 02/02/2021 16:43

Do you differentiate, OP?

Oh and I'm afraid you've got to risk being shunned because you're going to have to take your mask off to eat a Biscuit

AccidentallyOnPurpose · 02/02/2021 16:44

I honestly don't care who wears a mask , or ho doesn't, who only bought a chocolate at the shop, who sat on a bench, who went out twice, who ordered non essentials online and everything else.

I don't have the time ,patience or will to get angry at randoms for things. I have enough shit to deal with and worry about in my own life.

justanotherneighinparadise · 02/02/2021 16:46

The only ‘mask refuser’ I’ve known was a heavily pregnant lady who was struggling to breath in the latter part of her pregnancy. Everyone else I’ve associated with wears a mask.

Thatwentbadly · 02/02/2021 16:48

I doubt it. MN is full of people who are happily breaking the rules and encouraging others to so. Breaking a mask reduced the spread and some other people eg secret dinner is much worse.

Remmy123 · 02/02/2021 16:50

Don't be so ridiculous - it's not the odd few mask refusers fault! Masks do not 100% protect you or others

I think your labouring under the illusion they care about what judgemental people think. I’m exempt and I certainly don’t. I have to say I appear to be lucky and live in a area where people aren’t judge arseholes.
