Vaccine calculator - your place in the queue

I am probably missing something very obvious (so be nice) - why have places suddenly jumped back 6 months or so? Am assuming to do with the one dose then 2nd 12 weeks later but was down for June/July now December or Jan 2022. Just curious really. I am only in group 9 so not at high risk but guess other higher categories have been pushed back too. Thought it would have got quicker with Oxford jab rolling out. Just asking so someone more with it can satisfy my curiosity thank you

Things like this calculator!

@HeronLanyon

Wonder if those who change birthday and go into new category get to race up to the front of the queue - pushin in, as it were, waving their birth certif. Wondering if everyone would remain British and say nothing or have things changed ?!
What do you mean, 'change birthday'?Confused

What calculator are you talking about?

Chambored · 04/01/2021 12:56

Blimey.
Given a vaccination rate of 1,000,000 a week and an uptake of 70.6%, I should expect to receive my two doses of vaccine and be fully protected by between 01/02/2022 and 02/07/2022.
Well that’s something to look forward to!

PilatesPeach · 04/01/2021 12:58

The link for the calculator has been posted twice earlier in this thread.

I'm a care home worker and apparently should be fully protected by 29/03/2021. Since I've heard nothing either through work or my own gp practice, I very much doubt it.

Malbecca · 04/01/2021 12:58

Ffs. Not in any of the 9 priority groups, was holding out hope of going to New Zealand in November. Clearly not happening without a vaccination first, my estimated date pushed back from this autum to next spring. Sad

That was the result I got. I don't really understand it. The population of the UK is approx 66 million. I'm in my late 40s - surely if they are basing it on age, I should come sooner than 2022?
Revengeofthepangolins · 04/01/2021 13:00

Hmm. Rather depressing that my 81 year old diabetic mother is showing April now

Me too!

Also surely it is a big assumption that there will be a million a week so it'll probably be longer

@TheQueef
I 'think' they are referring to www.omnicalculator.com

Charlie63849 · 04/01/2021 13:01

Mine says June this year but I answered no to every question apart from the unpaid carer bit. I’m also 31.

If I changed that to no then it jumps to 2022.

HeronLanyon · 04/01/2021 13:02

I was planning (and have already sorted out which island wtc) a blow out to the Maldives Dec/jan. Given I’m now nov-23 December I don’t think I’ll be booking anything soon.
Given everything actually I will be happy just to be healthy then ! Just gave my own head a talking to.

Fingfoxes · 04/01/2021 13:02

I think various pressure groups are ensuring their members get vaccinated first, e.g. teachers, police etc.
I don't have any problem with this happening, but I do disagree with a teacher/police officer in their 20s getting the vaccine before someone over 60 with health conditions. This is what there is a risk of currently though.
As someone in priority 6, I worry about my DC going back to school once teachers are vaccinated, but the risk of pupils bringing Covid-19 back home to their unvaccinated families will be just as high as now.

Clearly the solution is to administer 2 million doses a week as we were promised, by using pharmacies, dentists, hospitals, as well as GPs. That would whizz through the vulnerable population as well as teachers, police officers etc.

movingonup20 · 04/01/2021 13:02

The calculator simply looks at your priority group then assumes 1m will be vaccinated a week. If this can be increased then it will speed up considerably. Currently they have far more capacity to vaccinate than supplies of vaccine

CuriousaboutSamphire · 04/01/2021 13:03

Well, it's not connected to the vaccine roll out at all, so I doubt it has any degree of accuracy!

TheQueef · 04/01/2021 13:04

Cheers Muriel I checked it and mine is next year Grin oh well!

2022 is going to be awesome!

KihoBebiluPute · 04/01/2021 13:08

The advanced mode on the calculator allows you to choose a vaccination rate and uptake rate - this is less than 1m per week at the moment but will actually build up to 3-4 million per week in a few months time. I don't think the tool is actually giving numbers you can rely upon, it is all guesswork.

Therarestone · 04/01/2021 13:12

It seemed to mess up at new year so I'm hoping its just something wrong with the algorithm

treedragon · 04/01/2021 13:15

Apparently I am 18 millionth odd in the Q as group 6. But there isn't 18 million odd people in my area. I did talk to my GP surgery this morning about a medical appoinment and discussed the vaccine and was confirmed to be in group 6 and she said my area were well into group 1 already. I certainly know two elederly people who have had it already and nurse on the front line.

treedragon · 04/01/2021 13:17

It's all a bit stupid that calculator because it almost insinuates there is one vaccine centre with one person and we all go on a pilgrimage to it.

In reality while I am being jabbed so is someone else in the country - indeep likely more than one other!

Notjustamum10 · 04/01/2021 13:19

Between Feb and July 2022 . . . Wish I hadn’t looked.
