I am probably missing something very obvious (so be nice) - why have places suddenly jumped back 6 months or so? Am assuming to do with the one dose then 2nd 12 weeks later but was down for June/July now December or Jan 2022. Just curious really. I am only in group 9 so not at high risk but guess other higher categories have been pushed back too. Thought it would have got quicker with Oxford jab rolling out. Just asking so someone more with it can satisfy my curiosity thank you

I am CEV and also work in a care home (currently shielding though), and I will get the vaccine earlier by working in a care home than I will being CEV. Hmm I can't work as I am CEV. Double Hmm

DumplingsAndStew · 04/01/2021 14:08

Yep they've finally acknowledged the decision that was made about unpaid carers.

PilatesPeach · 04/01/2021 14:09

Good that some are getting it earlier and other groups in need are being prioritised - I have no issue with being later just to add - was just wishing to understand.

Sounds like it's a load of crap which makes me happy - I'd dropped from 'just in time for a summer holiday' to 'you'll be lucky to get it before Christmas'.

@Forgetmenot157

Anyone else think people's mental health would benefit from something on the news similar to when we have elections... Eg big figures in the corner of how many vaccines administers and the percentage of the population etc... It can easily be updated as and when figures come in and it may just give those people anxious about restrictions ect some figures to show that we are making progress?

I am breastfeeding and my baby is 7 weeks old and since he was around a week old we have had problems with his reflux. The symptoms he would show is spitting up large amounts (sometimes projectile through nose), frequent hiccups, we can hear him bring up milk and swallow it a lot, coughing/choking on milk etc and he then started getting a bit upset after feed times but not always. For a while I thought he suffered with bad reflux and spoke to the doctor about medication we was prescribed gavisxon which helped a bit with his fussiness around feed times. The main issue we are dealing with is him not sleeping at night (even with us raising his crib) he would only sleep on us. It was really affecting my mental health and I was extremely exhausted. Since he was around 3 and a half weeks old we have been co sleeping with him as its the only way any of us sleep at night and doctor refused to give us any other medication (I tried speaking to a few doctors) as he was too young. Fast forward to now, I really want to put him in his cot again (I find it uncomfortable having him in bed with us and want him to be get used to his cot) but still experiencing all the same problems. My mum has had him on a few occasions overnight and has bottle fed him expressed milk, and he sleeps fine at hers feeding from bottle no problems/major spit up. I do not want to have to exclusively pump and I dont usually pump enough in a bottle for if I was to pump before his feed. I'm pretty sure a lot of this is caused by my let down/milk supply but I'm doing everything that the health visitor has advised with block feeding, upright feeding position, frequent burping, holding him after a feed for a bit before putting him down etc. I dont know what else I can do. I'm wondering if anyone has experienced similar problems and can offer any advice. I'm not sure whether me switching to mixed feeding and doing formula at night would help or if I should push for medication again at his 8 week check up and whether that will help if its more of a breastfeeding problem?

roarfeckingroarr · 04/01/2021 14:11

July 2022 😂

Fizzydrinks123 · 04/01/2021 14:11

Possibly healthcare workers are being pushed up again (there was talk originally of that happening and then that was changed).

I think maybe the number of people having to isolate within healthcare is increasing.

On balance, having general public return to a more normal life earlier than health staff will be counterproductive as the staff available after a car crash/accident in the home etc won't be available if at home isolating or unwell.

Chloemol · 04/01/2021 14:12

Partly because it works on 1m vaccines a week, and as that hasn’t started yet it shifts everything back

WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants · 04/01/2021 14:13

@Revengeofthepangolins

Hmm. Rather depressing that my 81 year old diabetic mother is showing April now
Don't forget thst's after her SECOND injection, 12 weeks after her first, so she must be getting her first soon & that will give her good immunity to serious illness x
CanWeHaveSnow · 04/01/2021 14:14

Mine says around March this year
God i hope so

Partners is been May and July though so still cant go back to ‘life’ till he is vaccinated too

WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants · 04/01/2021 14:16

@Fingfoxes

I think various pressure groups are ensuring their members get vaccinated first, e.g. teachers, police etc. I don't have any problem with this happening, but I do disagree with a teacher/police officer in their 20s getting the vaccine before someone over 60 with health conditions. This is what there is a risk of currently though. As someone in priority 6, I worry about my DC going back to school once teachers are vaccinated, but the risk of pupils bringing Covid-19 back home to their unvaccinated families will be just as high as now.

Clearly the solution is to administer 2 million doses a week as we were promised, by using pharmacies, dentists, hospitals, as well as GPs. That would whizz through the vulnerable population as well as teachers, police officers etc.

You can change it to calculate in 2m doses a week. It's not a Govt tool, so the 1m Is just their estimate.
picklemewalnuts · 04/01/2021 14:18

In my area a booking system has rolled out allowing people over 80 to book a vax centrally. However, it hasn't been publicised and people are wary of it.

There are appointments available Right Now but people aren't booking because they were told to wait until GP called them.

Such a waste.

shinynewapple2021 · 04/01/2021 14:19

I wonder if initially it hadn't accounted for the number of health and social care staff that would have their vaccinations before general public. It's also based on 70% take up of vaccine which could change particularly in younger population.

Yeah mine has changed from previous may-June to now saying November-December. If I pretend to be a health care worker (on the calculator obvs not IRL) I would be fully vaccinated by April.

WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants · 04/01/2021 14:20

@silverspring

Who is running that calculator and why are you giving it your approx birthday/medical info?
Because I want to

I'm telling it I'm 51 & have one of a long list of things that make me clinically vulnerable. What exactly do you think they can do with information???

GreenBacon · 04/01/2021 14:20

Surely the figure of 1 million a week will change hugely.
That's 140k per day.
There's 7k GP surgeries in the UK.
That means each surgery will only be doing 20 vaccinations a day ... and that's not considering all the other venues that could and are being used.

Surely the target of 1 million per day is achievable so your wait time could potentially be 7 times less.

GreekOddess · 04/01/2021 14:22

Mine has moved forward! Checked a couple of weeks ago and it said between July and September but it's now saying between February and July. I'm late 40s with no medical conditions.

Fingfoxes · 04/01/2021 14:22

Wow - that sounds great! Just what is needed. What area is that?
InTheSnow · 04/01/2021 14:22

Interesting to see that the largest category is the 16-64 year olds with a serious underlying medical condition.

Forgetmenot157 · 04/01/2021 14:23

@FourTeaFallOut oh I know the info is available, but having it constantly on news screens just at the bottom will be a good visual for people.

GreekOddess · 04/01/2021 14:23

Poor attention to detail on my part. It's now saying 2022. I didn't notice that!

WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants · 04/01/2021 14:24

@Chimpanme

Can anyone tell me how Group 6 relates to the timing? I am CEV so group 4, but i cannot figure out how Group 6 (high risk, previously on flu vaccine list in prior years due to medical conditions) timing is?
Tick the box lower down which asks if you have any of these conditions.
BlueBaubles12 · 04/01/2021 14:25

How will they know who is morbidly obese? I wasn’t but I did eat a whole tin of Quality Streets over Christmas.

YakkityYakYakYak · 04/01/2021 14:26

Mine says I should be vaccinated by July 2022.

Only 544 days to go before I can resume normality. Can’t wait!

FourTeaFallOut · 04/01/2021 14:26

Oh, I agree. It would be great if we made a song and dance about the vaccine figures and could watch them climb. It's just when you said it might be a boost, I thought I'd link in case you hadn't seen it and might find it helpful.
