I am probably missing something very obvious (so be nice) - why have places suddenly jumped back 6 months or so? Am assuming to do with the one dose then 2nd 12 weeks later but was down for June/July now December or Jan 2022. Just curious really. I am only in group 9 so not at high risk but guess other higher categories have been pushed back too. Thought it would have got quicker with Oxford jab rolling out. Just asking so someone more with it can satisfy my curiosity thank you

re. care workers
it does say - who receive carers allowance OR are main carer?
www.carersuk.org/news-and-campaigns/press-releases/carers-uk-welcomes-new-jcvi-advice-which-includes-unpaid-carers-in-the-vaccination-priority-list

flattyres · 04/01/2021 15:05

@HidingInTheLight

The unpaid carers thing isn’t unpaid carers full stop can have priority. It’s people in receipt of carers allowance. So for people like my mum who are unpaid carers (for me) but can’t claim carers allowance won’t have priority.
It does say those in receipt of CA and those who care for an disabled person/family member. DD is severely disabled and I am her sole carer but I don't qualify for CA. My GP as me down as 'carer'. I get the flu vaccine on the NHS because I am a carer. I would expect the covid vaccine to follow a similar logic.
Sam1815 · 04/01/2021 15:10

Mine is saying between end of March and end of April. When I checked it a few weeks ago it said between end of December and end of January so it seems the timeline has shifted slightly

wildraisins · 04/01/2021 15:12

I suppose the logistics of distributing the vaccine are proving more challenging than they expected. Not that surprising, really. There is so much unknown and people are doing the best they can with what is available. Just be patient.

EmpressSuiko · 04/01/2021 15:18

Does anyone know what the specific cancers are? I can’t find a list online anywhere l, my husband was diagnosed late last year with cancer but I’ve no idea if he is eligible for the vaccine because of it.

FrostedCranberries · 04/01/2021 15:19

February-July 2022 to get mine. Why so long?

BabyLlamaZen · 04/01/2021 15:20

Which calculator is this? Are you sure this is real?

CanWeHaveSnow · 04/01/2021 15:20

@EmpressSuiko

Is he CEV?

BabyLlamaZen · 04/01/2021 15:20

There are no current plans to vaccinate low risk people under 50 so I'm not sure where this has come from.

CanWeHaveSnow · 04/01/2021 15:21

@FrostedCranberries

You must have no conditions / fairly young

Classed as Small risk to health of you catch it

EmpressSuiko · 04/01/2021 15:25

@CanWeHaveSnow I believe he is as other people with the same cancer are CEV. As he is very newly diagnosed the doctors haven’t sent us a letter yet so I might just phone he’s specialist, it would just be helpful if they specified what those cancers were.

Fingfoxes · 04/01/2021 15:26

@picklemewalnuts - thanks, don't get any good google results when I search swiftqueue and my county.

AlwaysLatte · 04/01/2021 15:38

Between Feb and July 2022 unless you count me as a carer (I do caring duties for my mum and dad every day) in which case I would have it between June and September this year.

AlwaysLatte · 04/01/2021 15:40

My elderly parents have been pushed back about 4 months and my Dad is ECV 😢

CaptainMyCaptain · 04/01/2021 15:42

I'm very dubious about how true this calculator is.

ahagwearsapointybonnet · 04/01/2021 15:50

Honestly, it's not an official calculator, and the estimates will vary hugely depending what assumptions they are based on (no. of people vaccinated per week and so on), also it takes no account of where people are based and apparently some areas have far more access to vaccination centres currently than others. So it's not likely to be very accurate at all IMO.

The Times have their own calculator here www.thetimes.co.uk/article/when-will-i-get-the-covid-vaccine-find-your-place-on-uk-priority-list-with-our-calculator-9kxqdlh6k which also asks for your postcode, so it can take local availability into account. Please note though that this one says when you might get your FIRST dose (not both). Mine puts me at April this year, which I found quite cheering given I am under 50 and not in a vulnerable group, and my vulnerable/elderly relatives were all estimated to be done this month, so I hope it's right! But this is based on various assumptions/estimates as well - "If the government achieves its goal of vaccinating two million people a week, and takeup is 80%" which of course is not guaranteed. But obviously until we see how fast the actual rollout goes, estimating is the best anyone can do and no calculator is likely to be all that accurate.

SaskiaRembrandt · 04/01/2021 15:56

The calculator doesn't make any sense. If there are approximately 30,000,000 people ahead of me, and a vaccination rate of 1,000,000 per week, even taking into account the second dose it can't take more than two years to get around to me.

SaskiaRembrandt · 04/01/2021 15:56

I mean the Omni calculator not the Times one.

silverspring · 04/01/2021 15:57

I'm a Sagittarius, I'm getting mine in 2027. Meanwhile, suddenly I'm getting ads for archery equipment...

WonderfulWinde · 04/01/2021 16:06

Mine says March - May 2021. We will see.

EarlGreywithLemon · 04/01/2021 16:09

@TantieTowie

Have we moved on from under 50s with no underlying medical conditions not needing to be vaccinated at all? Didn't they say that at some point?
Yes, now that the Oxford vaccine is approved they said explicitly all adults can have one. Also Kate Bingham now claims that she was misquoting saying they wouldn’t vaccinate healthy over 60s.
EarlGreywithLemon · 04/01/2021 16:09

*misquoted

EarlGreywithLemon · 04/01/2021 16:11

@BabyLlamaZen

There are no current plans to vaccinate low risk people under 50 so I'm not sure where this has come from.
That is not the case post Oxford approval. They haven’t set the order for that yet, but everyone will get a vaccine if they want it - as Matt Hancock clearly said.
PilatesPeach · 04/01/2021 16:30

The Times calculator does not seem to be available for non-subscribers.

treedragon · 04/01/2021 16:31

I think that Omni Calculator is dubious. Thhe numbers stay the same no mattter what health background I put in. But I know at the moment I am group 6 and I know people in Group 2 being seen - so it might work its way faster than you think.
