That's an interesting article,
*@alreadytaken*. I've often wondered about what the basis is for minimising and denial as it seems so entrenched in many, and they won't budge even when faced with cold fact - I said to my DD yesterday it feels like a form of brainwashing has taken place because the marks of brainwashing include an inability to see outside of the truth you have constructed and then repeatedly confirmed through confirmation bias. It makes some sense to me that some are taking this tack due to needing to construct a fantasy where they are safe. I do feel for them actually.
My DD was saying it's also about the rise of misinformation everywhere over the past few years - you can find justification for pretty much anything and become very entrenched in it because there is so much material out there that will confirm it for you. Hence conspiracy theories etc.
