Or just just being said as scare tactic? What else could they really stop people doing?

@InTheLongGrass same first half of postcode? The first half of my postcode is in two different counties and two different tiers, one half is in tier two and the other is in tier four!

In Italy noone was allowed to leave the house. I think it was one person once per week to get shopping and medicine.

@CJB1234 Ah yes, all those white people over the christmas period can’t have spread covid because they’re not brown.

Weird how only a certain type of person believes in the existence of these mythical no whites signs.

Other countries have been more successful than us at controlling Covid-19 since day one. Dubai was sending rule breakers to prison if anyone was in breach. The penalties here were just like a slap on the wrist. It is like we are at war with this virus you need to be on top of it but now we are having to react again as it has the upper hand. We are practically at lockdown three because of the virus has spread like wildfire so what else can we do to stop it. I feel sad that so many Christmases have been spoilt and so many lives have been lost especially at this time of year. It is a dreadful situation for all of us.
You really want to have the same laws as Dubai ? What is wrong with people that think that locking up people is the way forward it's not .

That’s what we should be doing.

Even in tier 4 there’s no restrictions on how many times people can leave the house so whole families are shopping etc multiple times as a social activity etc.

Why, because it worked out so well for Italy?

Keeping my little toddler locked up in a flat like a caged animal for weeks is borderline abuse. I would risk arrest to get her outside.

I’d you’re worried scared of covid by all means shield yourself, but don’t ruin the childhoods of others over due to your hysteria.

I agree. We should enable people to go outside safely, ie enforcing social distancing etc. The toll on people's mental health from being stuck inside is huge.

I do feel there needs to be regulation around things like only one adult per household in a supermarket.

Tzimi · 30/12/2020 10:11

@Kentonian12 Wow, I think sending people to prison is a bit over-the-top! Besides, I would have thought that in a prison situation, the virus would spread more easily, so it would be counter-productive..

You’re insane and need help.

Btw, you can’t beat a virus.

Sockwomble · 30/12/2020 10:26

"That’s what we should be doing."

No thanks. You do that if you want to. I'm not keeping my autistic teenager in for weeks on end.

Spoldge45 · 30/12/2020 12:20

Yes we did go for a walk, but I was with my husband and daughter only. Not congregating in large groups such as the ones I saw!!

Feministicon · 30/12/2020 13:29

Can the one adult allowed to the supermarket bring their toddler or should they leave them at home alone..

You think people should be sent to prison for seeing their loved ones? Wow.

Which part of "one adult" do you not understand?
Nevertoomanyroasties · 30/12/2020 14:42

Sending people to prison!? Some people obviously have had their head under a blanket for the last 10 years. The prison system has had huge cuts, they don't have any room to house anymore, the privatised aspects messed up and now it's in an utter mess. I don't think they want to add Barbara who saw her granddaughter for a hug to their list of problems.

Feministicon · 30/12/2020 15:14

What part of single parent households do you not understand 😂

Feministicon · 30/12/2020 15:17

Do you know any single parents who got harassed for taking their young kids to the supermarket in the first lockdown because I do, you have to be more specific rather than insinuate I’m stupid 😘

ProfessorSillyStuff · 30/12/2020 17:23

Yep I got harassed 2 times for daring to not leave my kids home alone, as a single mum having to drag two autistic toddlers around while having autism and wearing a mask and my glasses amplifies my own autism and makes me feel I am drowning.

I want childrens services open again. My kids haven't seen a dentist or speech and language therapist for over a year, and for what? People who are scared, shield. The rest of us should be allowed to get on with life.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 30/12/2020 17:43

There were threads on here during the first lockdown saying that single parents shouldn't be going to supermarkets with their kids, they should get someone else to shop for them. I remember.

lljkk · 30/12/2020 18:15

The winter Lockdown in Italy is less strict than it was in March. Exercise & many types of outings are now allowed. It appears the Italians decided the earlier stricter rules were not required and they could do better.

Oh, and drycleaners & hairdressers in Italy are open?!

islockdownoveryet · 30/12/2020 20:58

Oh dear those that suggested that we'd get curfews and no exercise are you disappointed?
Have you gone back to hiding under the stair until the next announcement.

I guess these are the same people who are adamant that we were only permitted to go outside for an hour during lockdown number one.
