Do you think tier five will happen

Or just just being said as scare tactic? What else could they really stop people doing?

They could (and probably should) stop all the takeaways and deliveries, so people aren't popping to the town centre for a coffee every day. Stop ordering non-essential goods online, so fewer delivery drivers are out, and make the big grocery chains stop selling non-essentials. One trip out per day maximum, either for exercise or grocery shopping (or a combination thereof). They could close outdoor organised sport and non-essential work if it has to be done outside the home and indoors. And they could close schools to all but essential workers.

They could say all university has to be online or on hold for now. And all students have to return to their permanent homes for the duration.

And they could say no one could leave their local authority area for any reason apart from essential work.

So there is headroom for another tier. I just hope we don't need to use it.

Some students have jobs, and some don't have a safe, happy or comfortable permanent home to return to. It doesn't really matter where they are when so much is online, anyway.

@islockdownoveryet

Oh dear those that suggested that we'd get curfews and no exercise are you disappointed? Have you gone back to hiding under the stair until the next announcement.
I think the same people will continue to push for this until it calms down again, it was the same last time. Some people really like or want lock down, for a variety of different reasons.

@Jourdain11 it matters if students have to travel, and live in accommodation shared amongst more people than if they remained in the family home. More contacts, more chance of having Covid 19.

I do not want a repeat of the students in quarantine feeling almost imprisoned as happened in October.

So basically suck any remaining joy out of life and cause the restaurants now operating as takeaways to close, probably for good?

How do you decide what's a non essential online order? A lot of those called non essentials are keeping businesses afloat.

Surely people have to be allowed to shop in another local authority area as not everyone can shop in their own. I'm going to use cat litter as an example here as it's the only thing I have to go out to buy. I can buy it in town but can't park nearby. As I can only carry one box at a time I have to make multiple trips. If I drive into the next local authority area I can park right outside, load several boxes onto a trolley and only make one trip. Surely that's safer?

Most university students I know are going back at the weekend. They’ve paid a fortune for their accommodation and many will study better for their exams the week after, being with their books and stuff in a good study space rather than being at home sharing a room with a sibling.

The government would have to refund their accommodation ASAP, which there has been no mention of.

I think my part of country is in tier 5 now.Call it what you like.But it's tier 4 plus schools shut. And the reopening date will keep being pushed back as we all very well know.
