Do we think this will be a vaccine update, a change to rules or just waffle?

😂

As we're all chanting...

nation thumps tables

"FREE THE BRITS, FREE THE BRITS, FREE THE BRITS"

MercyBooth · 09/11/2020 16:25

@LemonTT Im anti lockdown but pro social distancing pro masks (for those than can wear them) and pro vaccine. As are many on the threads on the Chat board. So where do i fit in to your rhetoric

DH has COPD the common cold could floor him. Havent seen any COPD deniers offering to wear masks to protect him pre Covid though. Funny that

MrsFezziwig · 09/11/2020 16:30

Do you think with a successful vaccine this means that face masks, social distancing, scrubbing hands with sanitiser will be faded out? Or are all of those here to stay regardless?

I doubt they will be faded out in the near future given the timescale of rolling out the vaccines, but perhaps Boris might be announcing that in the interim everyone will be awarded one hug per week to be used as they please. Grin

SATSmadness · 09/11/2020 16:32

Is it my imagination or are the official daily stats generally delayed beyond the usual 4pm release date on days when Bozza is delivering a press conference ?

sashagabadon · 09/11/2020 16:32

@Unsure33

well the financial markets apparently disagree with you miserable lot . its had a bit of a boost as the vaccine has had good results and will be rolled out soon.

So although you lot love love love to Boris bash on a regular basis ( using the worldwide pandemic as an excuse ) we might be one of the first countries to start vaccinating .

Hang on! We’re mostly not a miserable lot. This is a pretty universally ecstatic reaction as Mumsnet threads go. There are too many miserable threads on Mumsnet I agree Grin

Not universally. The share price of Zoom plummeted!

sashagabadon · 09/11/2020 16:37

Zoom shares are a definite SELL!
I also see that Ocado has dropped Grin

@Madcats

Hopefully the slides will fit on the TV screens this time.

Is it just Boris (and has anybody taught them how to use a "slide clicker")?

I'm not holding my breath about the vaccine- the NHS is still scrabbling around trying to get enough flu vaccine (that was promised to the over 50s in July, to be amended to "available later in the Autumn", presumably not available at all now).

It may depend where you are, I’m not in the vulnerable group, but got a call for a flu vax as I’d had one at our surgery before (when I was pregnant). So we must have had some spare 🤷🏻‍♀️
Ridcully82 · 09/11/2020 16:43

@Ijustcantcope

That articles says UK will get 10m doses by the end of the year so that’s enough to vaccinate 5m people. Not great really
The shielding list was about 2.2 million,there's about a million work in NHS (not all front line),so still have 1.8 million for armed forces,and any other Uber key workers. It's a hell of a start!
52andblue · 09/11/2020 16:46

I wonder if he will start on time for a change, if it's good news?

Calmandmeasured1 · 09/11/2020 16:47

It'll be about:
A major rolling out of testing to a couple more whole cities;
News about the vaccine;
News that, subject to the rates continuing to plateau or fall, that the 'lockdown' could be ended earlier.

BiggerBoat1 · 09/11/2020 16:54

Maybe he's decided to step down now his mate Trump has gone!

MrsMichaelPalin · 09/11/2020 16:54

Venture capitalist Kate Bingham is married to a Tory minister and has no experience in healthcare. Boris Johnson has made her head of Britain’s vaccine taskforce.

Bingham has spent £670k of public money on PR consultants.

Unsure33 · 09/11/2020 16:55

Amazon shares will fall as well and the sales of “ lounge” wear 😀

Calmandmeasured1 · 09/11/2020 16:55

@funkyfruitloops

I don't think Chris Witty and Sir Patrick Valance are going to be there. I read that Prof Van Tam will be with the PM.

MercyBooth · 09/11/2020 16:55

Ooh BBC journo/newsreader doesnt like private contracts being brought up.

MercyBooth · 09/11/2020 16:58

Professor Alison Pollock was being interviewed there

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 09/11/2020 17:02

Bets on what time he actually turns up this time.

PicsInRed · 09/11/2020 17:03

I really hope corporate wear still goes the way of the top hat and the dodo. I hate office skirts and pantyhose. Hate.

PicsInRed · 09/11/2020 17:04

And high heels catching on office carpet. Hmm

pinkearedcow · 09/11/2020 17:04

Yes it is great. We don't need to vaccinate everyone, just as we don't vaccinate everyone for flu. This would be a great start.

PicsInRed · 09/11/2020 17:04

@RafaIsTheKingOfClay

Bets on what time he actually turns up this time.
This one's scheduled, so he is pre-sobered.
Tadpolesandfroglets · 09/11/2020 17:06

Hopefully announce he’s so upset about Trump that he’s leaving too....?

JamieLeeCurtains · 09/11/2020 17:06

Van Tam and the army flanking. Nice.

MarshaBradyo · 09/11/2020 17:07

Good one on early ordering
