I'm sorry. I completely missed the bit in the press conference where they said you can swan about as normal. Hmm

No. You can't go on holiday. Wtf would you???

OverTheRainbow88 · 31/10/2020 21:06

It said stay in your home.

Is a holiday home a home? Yes!

shitonitbambinos · 31/10/2020 21:06

Holidays / non essential travel isn't allowed.

Ulpo · 31/10/2020 21:08

@SandrasAnnoyingFriend sorry but I don't think so. Shit isn't it? X

m0therofdragons · 31/10/2020 21:08

If you’re only travelling to work if it’s essential then it’s pretty clear holidays aren’t essential.

Yorkie127 · 31/10/2020 21:08

It's really really clear. No holidays - second home or no second home! Slightly gutted about having to cancel ours but hey ho, we will survive!

Are holidays still allowed?
sheworkshardforthemoney · 31/10/2020 21:09

No for travel to second homes

NaughtipussMaximus · 31/10/2020 21:09

Robert Peston on twitter said all international travel except for work is banned and internal travel also strongly discouraged except for work. And you shouldn’t overnight anywhere except for work purposes.

SandrasAnnoyingFriend · 31/10/2020 21:10

I think we'll contact the consulate for advice. Not being able to see your child is inhumane in my opinion

NaughtipussMaximus · 31/10/2020 21:12

@Bwlch

No non essential travel (within the UK or internationally).

Travel is essential if we want to get to our second home.

But it’s not essential for you to go to your second home, therefore the travel is non essential.
Bwlch · 31/10/2020 21:14

It's really really clear. No holidays - second home or no second home!

That's OK then. We would be working in our second home, not taking a holiday.

m0therofdragons · 31/10/2020 21:14

Here is the guidance:

Overnight stays and holidays away from primary residences will not be allowed- including holidays in the UK and abroad. This includes staying in a second home, if you own one, or staying with anyone you do not live with or are in a support bubble with. There are specific exceptions, for example if you need to stay away from home (including in a second home) for work purposes.

m0therofdragons · 31/10/2020 21:16

@Bwlch only if you need to be in the second home for work. If you can work from your primary home you have to do that.

Mamimawr · 31/10/2020 21:17

Just stay at home! It's not a game of trying to see how far you can push the rules.

ShellsAndSunrises · 31/10/2020 21:18

No, not unless it’s for an exempt reason such as work.

Are holidays still allowed?
TheChineseChicken · 31/10/2020 21:19

Oh, come ON!

ShellsAndSunrises · 31/10/2020 21:19

@SandrasAnnoyingFriend The flight may well not go, if you’re flying. EasyJet have said they’ll cancel most after Thursday, I’d imagine others will follow suit. We’re due to fly home in the middle and BA have said they’ll minimise the flight schedule and can’t tell us when we’ll have to go back.

I’m sorry for your partner, though

SandrasAnnoyingFriend · 31/10/2020 21:23

Yes I'd thought the flight being cancelled was quite likely anyway
If it's still going I can't see OH not trying to get there though.

savethewales · 31/10/2020 21:23

@Bwlch

No non essential travel (within the UK or internationally).

Travel is essential if we want to get to our second home.

Going to a second home isn’t essential though surely?
Bwlch · 31/10/2020 21:27

Going to a second home isn’t essential though surely?

It might be. It will depend on the weather. I hope we can avoid it though.

EasterIssland · 31/10/2020 21:31

@annabel85 I was meant to fly next week to Japan as it’s high season over there.

Inkpaperstars · 31/10/2020 21:33

Before the press conference Peston was saying what they had been told the restrictions would be and it included no leaving the country except for work reasons, and no overnight stays away from main home except for work reasons. I don't remember hearing that spelled out at the conference but I did fall asleep during it. There should be official clarification soon, either guidance or draft legislation to be voted on this week. I would guess though, no hols.

SandrasAnnoyingFriend · 31/10/2020 21:36

I cannot agree that travelling for work could be more important than to have contact with your child. Hopefully someone in charge agrees with me.

TableFlowerss · 31/10/2020 21:37

Is that ESSENTIAL travel OP? 🧐🤔 think about that for a moment.....
