@Mamimawr

Just stay at home! It's not a game of trying to see how far you can push the rules.
Exactly!
emmcan · 31/10/2020 21:37

What about flying to Italy for a weekend to get away from a newborn baby?

SeverusSnape1 · 31/10/2020 21:39

Holidays were allowed during the first lockdown so I don't see why that would change now.

Slyfox69 · 31/10/2020 21:40

And this is why your have such a high number of cases. Stay home.

Posturesorposes · 31/10/2020 21:41

Sorry @OverTheRainbow88 it’s not allowed. Text on gov.Uk very clearly says this. Attached screenshot and link here www.gov.uk/guidance/new-national-restrictions-from-5-november#travel

I asked the question- not because I want to go on holiday. Nor do I have a second home.

This illustrates how lose these rules will be for certain people. It’s going to ruin some whilst others easily find loopholes and flout the rules.

Oly4 · 31/10/2020 21:43

No holidays and going to second holiday homes isn’t allowed.

midsomermurderess · 31/10/2020 21:44

Clearly not. It's pretty much back to the same terms as in March onwards.

GnomeDePlume · 31/10/2020 21:45

You have until Thursday. Pick which home you want to be in for the next month. Go there, stay there.

m0therofdragons · 31/10/2020 21:46

@SeverusSnape1 holidays weren’t allowed first time, it was essential travel only until the restrictions lifted over the summer and travel corridors created!

LizzieSiddal · 31/10/2020 21:46

from the govt website.

Overnight stays and holidays away from primary residences will not be allowed- including holidays in the UK and abroad. This includes staying in a second home, if you own one, or staying with anyone you do not live with or are in a support bubble with. There are specific exceptions, for example if you need to stay away from home (including in a second home) for work purposes.

No they weren't, don't be daft, it was the same as they have said now - no non-essential travel, including no travel to second homes!
Charleyhorses · 31/10/2020 21:51

I am my Mums sole source of support. She is 80 with cognitive issues. She also lives 170 miles away. I will travel to see her. I think that this is allowed. But frankly I cannot not do what I did before and leave her on her own for months cos I followed the rules.

Signoftimes · 31/10/2020 21:51

You can’t go on holiday

Are holidays still allowed?

Why? It's perfectly clear. They've listed the circumstances when going out is permitted and going on holiday is not one of them. No loophole there.

crazyfrogs · 31/10/2020 21:56

Foreign travel is only if it's for work purposes.
It's a national lockdown so how is going on holiday going to either sensible or permitted?

marveloustimeruiningeverything · 31/10/2020 21:57

It's for 4 weeks. I don't think asking for the visit to be rescheduled is unreasonable if it requires international travel.

From the government link previously posted

to visit members of your support bubble or provide care for vulnerable people, or as a volunteer

Livelovebehappy · 31/10/2020 21:57

If people want to go to their holiday homes badly enough, they will go. Rules or not. This is a common theme with all the rules - some people abide by them, others don’t. The government pretty much rely on the goodwill of people to do what’s right, but I’m already hearing people saying they won’t follow the rules.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 31/10/2020 21:58

No. No holidays. No holiday homes.

Unless of course, you are Dominic Cummings or Stanley Johnson or a hedge fund manager or an MP and think you can get away with it without anyone spotting you, or you need to go grease shooting or fox hunting . . .

SchadenfreudePersonified · 31/10/2020 21:59

*grouse hunting, not grease hunting

Grease hunting is very much forbidden . . .

xxreeldancerxx · 31/10/2020 22:00

How many people will be tempted to travel to Scotland airports to fly on holiday??

BarbaraofSeville · 31/10/2020 22:01

^Who goes away in November anyway?

Not exactly holiday season^

Eh? We've had to cancel mountain biking in southern Spain.

Last year we were diving in Gran Canaria in late November. Of course people go on holiday in November.

orangetriangle · 31/10/2020 22:02

fgs just stay at home
