bingowingsmcgee · 12/10/2020 18:40

I think more people are coming round to that way of thinking OP. Some have known all along what a bellend he is!

WhoseThatGirl · 12/10/2020 18:55

We can have people in the garden now. Not sure I’ll be doing that is all this rain but it’s weird that our restrictions seem to have been lessened.

FredaFox · 12/10/2020 18:59

Pretty much no change for us, I think we’ve been lucky as Oldham’s rates have dropped so we’ve made tier 2, we could easily have been 3

IndecentFeminist · 12/10/2020 19:01

Doesn't Manchester have the highest rates per 100,000 at the mo?

WhoseThatGirl · 12/10/2020 19:24

No not currently, we have gone down this week
EggysMom · 12/10/2020 19:25

They reckon Manchester might have tipped over the edge and be on a downward trajectory now ... Hence tier 2.

bingowingsmcgee · 12/10/2020 19:29

Well tier 2 is very welcome

x2boys · 12/10/2020 19:32

Nothings changed ,I'm in Bolton our rates have gone back up I believe ,but we are quite far down the table now I think.

JaJaDingDong · 12/10/2020 19:35

Tier 1 here in Wiltshire (smug).
Mind you, apart from Swindon and Salisbury, it's a pretty empty country.

CrappleUmble · 12/10/2020 19:35

Now is a good time to buy shares in patio heater companies.

Ilikewinter · 12/10/2020 19:38

I was certain we would be in the tier 3 group, from what ive heard its only Liverpool going to be in tier 3, but Nottingham is sky high so I dont understand the thinking!.

I know Manchesters rates have dropped slightly, maybe Andy Burham threw such a strop Boris didnt want to upset him even more.

If anything our restrictions have eased as we can now meet people in our gardens...all a bit wierd really.

TeaOneSugar · 12/10/2020 19:41

Boris mentioned no mixing households between support bubbles, so I'm assuming they're still in place? My DP lives in a tier 2 area and I'm in tier 1 presumably I can still visit him as long as we maintain the bubble?

I suspect the threats of legal action might have done it. For whatever reason Boris prefers not to show his working out.
WinifredSanderson · 12/10/2020 19:59

Government have confirmed support bubbles remain intact on every tier.

TazMac · 12/10/2020 20:03

I understand that we are only tier 2 because Burnham et al wouldn’t accept the financial package for going into tier 3. So I guess it’s now a case of who blinks first - government cough up more money or cases rise to the point at which Burnham et al can’t refuse to go to tier 3.

PracticingPerson · 12/10/2020 20:06

The message I got was more people are in hospital now than when we locked down, these signs are flashing at us like warning lights in a plane, but we are still doing fuck all except in Liverpool? Did I miss something? Hmm

WeMarchOn · 12/10/2020 20:08

@JaJaDingDong Wiltshire here too

This.

One way or the other someone will have overplayed their hand. Dying people tend to be more sympathetic than bar owners and pictures of young drunk people parading around.

Poopoodidoo · 12/10/2020 20:16

I thought BJ made a veiled threat of forcing other areas into Tier 3 when answering the Sky News woman’s questions.

Devlesko · 12/10/2020 20:22

Some of us in Greater Manchester helped, I'm sure most MP's don't know all the large and small towns or the boundaries.
I feel sorry for Saints.

EmmaGrundyForPM · 12/10/2020 20:23

I was surprised about Nottingham but it's not just the numbers apparently, it's also what sector of the population is affected. In Nottingham the high rates are amongst younger people

TazMac · 12/10/2020 20:24

Yes, it was around those other areas not accepting the package on offer. I think the government are expecting cases to go up to the point that the mayors of those areas will have to go into tier 3, or be blamed for excess deaths. The mayors of those areas are trying to negotiate a better deal to go into tier 3.

happytoday73 · 12/10/2020 20:30

Carry on as was... That was my understanding.
2 things I did note...
It looks like we now, under new rules, might be able to meet people in our backgarden as long as follow max 6 rules... Love the way they change that when it's too cold for a BBQ..

Secondly Boris was asked twice about informal childcare ie grandparents picking up from school and if could still continue to do so in... First time answered about childcare funding, second time about keeping country going... At no point did he say.. Yes as we previously said for areas under extra restrictions informal childcare arrangements can still go ahead.
Not sure if he cleared it up later... (I got bored)
