Waiting for a test result is torture

No exaggeration.
It’s worse than waiting to hear from a job interview or For a text after a date.
I’m checking my email every minute to see whether any of us are allowed out the house tomorrow.
I’m so impatient!!!!!!

Dc keep asking if they’ll be allowed to go to school tomorrow poor little things.
Not sure how I’m going to sleep tonight!

Us too.. we haven't told DS anything as he gets quite anxious. I just assumed we would know by 7am tomorrow... Looking less and less likely as time goes on.

Not sure what we will tell him tomorrow. We will see.

cheeseychovolate · 04/10/2020 21:07

When did you have the test? My husband's took 20 hours to get the result.

Castiel07 · 04/10/2020 21:08

I've found the email comes before a text by sometimes quite a few hours esp if its during the early hours you receive the results.
Hope you get them soon.

CuckooCuckooClock · 04/10/2020 21:41

Thanks. Test was yesterday at 4 so I’m hoping we have the result by the morning.

Ours was yesterday at 9am. I thought we might have ours by midday today so we could at least get out the house! No such luck.

CuckooCuckooClock · 04/10/2020 22:11

I know what you mean about getting out today. We had to bribe our dc to ‘help’ in the garden to get them some fresh air. What a shit weekend

Postal test arrived in Glasgow yesterday at 8am so really hoping we get a result tomorrow!

MacOrMc · 05/10/2020 09:41

We're waiting too, me, DH and two children. 22 hours since we handed in our tests, so hoping to hear something soon. My watch vibrates every time I get a text or email, it's making me jump every time!

MacOrMc · 05/10/2020 09:43

Should add, it was a test at a test centre, not a home one, so really hoping we hear today so the kids can go back tomorrow. Assuming that it's negative of course. DH is no longer coughing, kids still are a bit, but better than they were over the weekend.

mygrandadsvest · 05/10/2020 10:11

Still waiting too - 43.5 hours post test and no result. DD still coughing and sore throat but no longer has temperature and has far more energy - Saturday she fell asleep mid conversation!

Satonloo · 05/10/2020 10:29

Waiting here too. Had test done in a drive thru test site on Saturday evening.

Underactor · 05/10/2020 13:27

Yep... Still waiting here

Tomorrow will be 5th day of symptoms so we will be doing another private test if we haven't got the results by then.

We cannot do this for two weeks unless we have to. It isn't fair on my kids. I totally understand the need to do this if it's positive but I'm not isolating for ages just because the govt is fucking useless.

Underactor · 05/10/2020 13:28

@MacOrMc we got the v first test available on Saturday am at a mobile testing site. Still bloody nothing.

mygrandadsvest · 05/10/2020 13:46

So much for 48 hours- still nothing here. Not going to bother chasing.

Underactor · 05/10/2020 13:55

No, we tried they basically said we can't chase it for you so don't bother.

What a fucking shambles.

Why are Italy fairing better than us? I can tell you why. Because over in Italy if you have a test you get the results in 30 minutes. Here we can't even manage it in two days.

Yesterday we were supposed to go out for lunch. We cancelled that obviously but not until about 3 hours before as we hoped we'd get the result. Today I was supposed to go shopping on my afternoon off. My son is missing school, the economy is missing out on my money and local businessess are losing out too.

We can't even go out for a walk.

Shambles.

30 minutes? Wow! Why can't we achieve this in England?

Bakewell79 · 05/10/2020 14:08

Son tested 8am yesterday morning at a drive through and we are still waiting on his results

Reading some wait times I’m not feeling hopeful about receiving a result anytime soon!!

lentilsforlunch · 05/10/2020 14:48

48h+ now for us. But less scary now I'm starting to feel better

GoNucksFiven · 05/10/2020 14:50

We've just gotten our results after over 8 full days in South Wales...

Underactor · 05/10/2020 15:20

@covetingthepreciousthings yeah in Italy they basically have walk in centres and they test, you stay and then you get a result 30 mins later.

Or at least that's what the news is suggesting is happening. Might be fake news.

NotAKaren · 05/10/2020 15:23

Yes it is correct about Italy, although apparently less accurate but it is seen as a better trade off than no testing.

NotAKaren · 05/10/2020 15:25

I believe this is something along the lines of what Boris has touted with operation Moonshot but I cannot understand why we cannot have it now if it is readily in use in other countries.

MacOrMc · 05/10/2020 15:31

28 hours now. I really hope they come in before tomorrow morning. Kids are going stir crazy, DH's job is so much more tough from home. I can work fully from home (although was supposed to be going in tomorrow) so not too bad for me, but it's just stressful. Thankfully nobody seems to be particularly ill, just coughs which are beginning to clear up.

A 30 minute test would be amazing.

JessieEssex · 05/10/2020 15:32

Tested 4pm Saturday at test centre. Nothing back here. DD's temperature gone and she's desperate to go back to school. I haven't slept in two nights and I'm exhausted, just want to know.
