Waiting for a test result is torture

No exaggeration.
It’s worse than waiting to hear from a job interview or For a text after a date.
I’m checking my email every minute to see whether any of us are allowed out the house tomorrow.
I’m so impatient!!!!!!

@Underactor that’s terrible! Are you still within the timeline where they can even tell if you go tomorrow? Shock

Pandaa · 07/10/2020 18:51

My DD had a test today so I'm awaiting results, not expecting them anytime soon as a couple of weeks ago she had one and took about 90hours for a result. Second time she's been off this term, and I cannot work from home.
Trying to do the right thing but it's very disheartening every time I have to call work and take time off. Last time i was off 6 days in total. 2 days just trying to book a test, 3.5 days awaiting results.
Luckily I managed to get a test straight away this time about a 40 minute drive away.

Been waiting 54 hours now. DS is desperate to get back to school and will be gutted if he misses tomorrow's school trip. He's already missed swimming and his drum lesson. Know they sound like minor things, but he was just starting to get into the swing of things at a new school and a 1 day cough is probably going to result in at least a week off school.

penpotted · 07/10/2020 19:49

Oh god @Underactor I'm so sorry. How bloody stressful. Like PL said, I thought tests were only accurate within the first X days of testing anyway?!

penpotted · 07/10/2020 19:51

Am I the current person waiting the longest? What an accolade if so Grin

60 hours - beginning to wonder if they forgot to scan something or have lost them.

selfishjeanss · 07/10/2020 20:02

Pen sorry to say we’re on 81 hours since it was received at the lab on Sunday morning. My daughter tested and posted at the same time and also hasn’t heard back. Why don’t we have nightingale laboratories? This is ridiculous :(

chocolatemonster · 07/10/2020 20:16

55 hours here Hmm

dementedma · 07/10/2020 20:26

DD now has no temp and no cough or other symptoms. Her bedroom is a converted box room which holds only a single bed and a chest of drawers. she is an adult with OCD so can’t keep her locked up in there indefinitely. It’s smaller than a prison cell!
As she has no other symptoms will let her into the front room tomorrow and we will just have to keep our fingers crossed and hygiene high.
We only have one bathroom anyway so she’s already mixing with the rest of us in that sense. Might as well just take our chances that the result will be negative

penpotted · 07/10/2020 20:33

@selfishjeanss Shock you must be going stir crazy. Are you both ok? Did you daughter post her test back from the same area?

chocolatemonster · 07/10/2020 22:06

Got result through at 8.30pm - negative Smile

@dementedma @selfishjeanss I really feel for you both Flowers

Somuchroom · 08/10/2020 06:21

68 hours and counting

penpotted · 08/10/2020 08:13

Got mine in the middle of the night - 65 hours. Negative, thank goodness.

Mysa74 · 08/10/2020 08:24

Things might be speeding up. I took my daughter to Stansted airport at 11am yesterday, results came at 6am this morning. She's negative so back to preschool today :-)
Good luck everyone

TheQueef · 08/10/2020 08:25

My test (postal) arrived in Glasgow on the 4th still waiting...

FluffyPJs · 08/10/2020 08:31

My sons test was done at 9am in Monday, at a drive through. We're still waiting - almost 72 hours. My head teacher was so understanding at first but as the week has gone on is getting as frustrated as we are!

selfishjeanss · 08/10/2020 12:21

@TheQueef our timings are the same as yours. I just rang 119 and went through to the digit for new test rather than chasing one. Explained to a very helpful lady that we were assuming our tests were lost .. she’s taken our details and sent a chase up email whilst we were on the phone. If you haven’t already, think about trying the same. Good luck with it

JemIsMyNameNooneElseIsTheSame · 08/10/2020 13:17

Finally got DS's result last night and was negative thankfully. As others have said, email came through hours before the text - seems they only send text messages in sociable hours so definitely keep your eye on your email.

TheQueef · 08/10/2020 13:19

Thanks Selfish I think I will.
Pretty sure I'm negative but I can't see my Dad until I get a result.
Luckily I WFH so I didn't miss work Sad

MamaZeee · 08/10/2020 13:23

Anyone receive results from home test that didn’t reach destination labs one Royal Mail tracking? 2 out of three test have reached labs one hasn’t but all were sent together. I’ve called 119 and royal but no one can check to see if it’s received at lab and they are saying maybe it has maybe it hadn’t order a new test for that person 🤦🏻‍♀️

selfishjeanss · 08/10/2020 15:29

@MamaZeee I’d just order a new test tbh.

MamaZeee · 08/10/2020 15:57

@TheQueef that seems so long :(

2 out of 3 of our tests arrived at Glasgow this morning one tracking hasn’t updated I’m hoping it hasn’t been lost 😩 just not scanned or something...

TheQueef · 08/10/2020 16:12

I'm sorry to put a bigger downer on the thread but I called 119.
Even though it has been successfully tracked and registered at Glasgow if they can't locate it I just keep self isolating.
The cold or Rona I've got has every symptom going I'll be at it weeks.
No retest though, that will cause problems for some folk.

icelollycraving · 08/10/2020 16:16

Omg that’s bloody awful. Don’t you just isolate for 10/14 sats. You can’t stay locked away forever Shock

LunaNorth · 08/10/2020 16:22

Mine arrived just before 1am. Negative, thank goodness.

TheQueef · 08/10/2020 16:35

I've no idea Lolly my 119 advisor has escalated it for clarification (asked her direct supervisor already but they too thought the isolation could 'refresh')
Luckily for me (Angry) I can do it, if I must but I doubt many could.
