Waiting for a test result is torture

No exaggeration.
It’s worse than waiting to hear from a job interview or For a text after a date.
I’m checking my email every minute to see whether any of us are allowed out the house tomorrow.
I’m so impatient!!!!!!

How long did the one you took on the 28th take to come through? It's no wonder it's spreading as by the time they even get to track and trace days have gone past!!!
I took the test on Monday 28th at 12.30pm and received results Wednesday 6am. So about 42 hours, but I wasn't self isolating last week as I had no symptoms and it was just a random test invite.

This time I took the test at 8am Monday and no results yet, 50 hours so far.

Mumsnut · 07/10/2020 10:52

Been waiting 48hrs here. Walk through test Monday morning in Kingston

lurker101 · 07/10/2020 11:05

@Mumsnut I took mine at 1.30 on Monday at a London walk through, fingers crossed our results come through very soon! It’s agonising waiting

Mumsnut · 07/10/2020 11:11

@lurker101

Very frustrating!

chocolatemonster · 07/10/2020 11:29

It's so frustrating. I wonder whether it's actually they can't process the tests quickly enough or whether it's getting the results out or a mixture of both! Either way track and trace becomes pointless once you are getting to 48 hours and over.

dementedma · 07/10/2020 11:34

Dd tested last night. They said result within 48 hours

literallychristraeger · 07/10/2020 11:35

Took my DS to out of hours doctor at the weekend as he was struggling to breathe (asthma) and the performed a COVID test while we were there. I've had a text to say I can get the results but the site won't work?

Anyone else having trouble with the Scottish results site?

penpotted · 07/10/2020 11:35

@chocolatemonster I have wondered how long the tests sit there at the walk in centre before being collected. If you get a test at 8am, but they're not collected til 5pm, then in theory you're going to get your results 8 hours slower than someone who tests at 4pm?

chocolatemonster · 07/10/2020 11:44

@penpotted that thought crossed my mind too. They may send the whole days batch off in one go.

@dementedma that's what DS was told - 49 hours later still waiting Hmm

dementedma · 07/10/2020 12:24

Bugger. DH and I off work until result and we cant go round and look after mum who lives alone. We're in Scotland so dont know if it's quicker or slower here

LunaNorth · 07/10/2020 12:25

I had mine at 1:30pm yesterday so I’m on pins too.

I've been told this morning that they take a batch at lunchtime and then the end of the day

Ours has gone at lunchtime so I'm hoping for a result soon

icelollycraving · 07/10/2020 14:07

Jessieessex how’s your dd doing? Flowers
I am wondering if positive tests come through quicker, seems like a bit a lucky (or not so lucky) dip in result times.

selfishjeanss · 07/10/2020 14:11

Sent home test off on Saturday. Royal Mail tracking says it arrived Sunday morning. Still no results though. Still unwell. I work in a school and so marked as an essential worker within their data... certainly hasn’t sped things up though.

penpotted · 07/10/2020 15:15

@selfishjeanss gosh that's a really long wait! Hope you are feeling much better soon Thanks

lurker101 · 07/10/2020 15:45

Literally just got my (negative) result there now. Tested at walk in centre in London at 1.30pm on Monday so just over 50 hours. Good luck for everyone else waiting

chocolatemonster · 07/10/2020 16:00

@lurker101
That's great news! Someone we know took the test at the same place 1hr before ds and has just got their email. Don't want to get my hopes up though. 53 hours and counting Hmm

ASchuylerSister · 07/10/2020 16:04

I’m in the SE. Went to a drive through site and still waiting for results after 50+ hrs.

Me and DH aren’t getting paid.

I can see why people will do this once and not for it again if they have to wait to get a test and then wait ages for the results as well.

ASchuylerSister · 07/10/2020 16:11
@underactor I think I read somewhere that you can chase results after 72 hours by calling 119
I’ve called them and you can’t now. There’s a message telling you they’re too busy to chase results and then you get cut off Grin

chocolatemonster · 07/10/2020 16:20

@ASchuylerSister
That's our issue too - 3 out of 4 of us not getting paid. You want to do the right thing but it's not viable to do this all winter.

I have heard someone chased and selected a different option (not the chase results) and got to talk to someone.

ASchuylerSister · 07/10/2020 16:33

@chocolatemonster
Yeah we’ve said the same. You want to do the right thing but if it’s going to be like this every time one of us has symptoms, we won’t be able to pay our bills!

Underactor · 07/10/2020 17:45

We finally got our results!!!!

They were inconclusive. Hooray.

Tests booked for the whole family for tomorrow!!!

nevertrustaherdofcows · 07/10/2020 17:45

Just back! So about 54 hrs.

More importantly, negative.

My feeling all along was that DD just had a cold, but her temperature did hit 37.8 on the first day, she did complain that she couldn't smell her Lemsip or her shampoo at one point,, and she was coughing quite a bit at the end, though not continuously. So I felt we'd better get a test rather than carry merrily on.

chocolatemonster · 07/10/2020 17:57

@Underactor
No way! That's awful. Is it mandatory to get retested?

selfishjeanss · 07/10/2020 17:59

@Underactor oh no! How many tests did you have done? They were all inconclusive? Good luck for tomorrow and I hope you are well soon

@penpotted thank you so much. I have too be thankful that if it is Covid, I do not have a severe case. So many random symptoms and so tiring though

My poor DD was supposed to move out for her first year at uni this last weekend. Life is on hold for sure
