Waiting for a test result is torture

No exaggeration.
It’s worse than waiting to hear from a job interview or For a text after a date.
I’m checking my email every minute to see whether any of us are allowed out the house tomorrow.
I’m so impatient!!!!!!

Nope... I think we are holding the record of 74 hours so far?

MacOrMc · 06/10/2020 11:05

Got all but one result by email overnight, so about 40-42 hours. The final one came through by text at about 9.30am, so about 47 hours. No email for that final one, and no text for the others. Weird. Bundled the kids into uniforms and the car immediately, I'm sure I've forgotten to send them in with something essential. I was just so desperate to catch up on the work I missed yesterday.

Hope the rest of you aren't waiting too much longer. And I really hope we can get access to quicker tests at some point soon.

amelie427 · 06/10/2020 12:26

@underactor we're also on around 74 hours here... 😩

TeensArghhh · 06/10/2020 12:29

We've just gotten our results after over 8 full days in South Wales

My DD and some college mates got their results within 12 hours. Also South Wales 🤷🏻‍♀️

FightMilkTM · 06/10/2020 12:31

I had a test a couple of weeks back and waited 71 hours.
Test on Thursday afternoon, negative result on Sunday afternoon so a whole weekend wasted.

Underactor · 06/10/2020 12:40

@amelie427 do you mind me asking where in the country you are?

We are SW

amelie427 · 06/10/2020 12:42

@underactor We are in London

Underactor · 06/10/2020 13:56

Not a regional problem then! Hopefully you get them soon.

amelie427 · 06/10/2020 13:57

Fingers crossed for you too!

mygrandadsvest · 06/10/2020 13:58

Got results at 1.30- 71 hours!

Negative thank goodness.

JessieEssex · 06/10/2020 14:39

Results arrived at 2.45 but not so lucky for us as she's positive. fuck fuck fuck

icelollycraving · 06/10/2020 16:24

Oh no. What were her symptoms? Shock

amelie427 · 06/10/2020 16:43

Just got ours after 78 hours... negative. Back to work and school for us - good luck to everyone else waiting and speedy recovery to those with positives

Seeline · 06/10/2020 16:50

Just got mine after a drive through test on Saturday at 1pm at Chessington World of Adventures. 75 hours and negative. What a waste of time; Y12 DD really doesn't need to be missing school.

covetingthepreciousthings · 06/10/2020 17:59

Drive thru test yesterday 2pm result back today 2.30 so just over 24 hours which was such a relief as it's meant we've only missed 2 days of work & school. (Leeds)

misstiggiwinkle · 06/10/2020 18:15

My DH and DD were tested at 8am on Sunday at Twickenham drive through. Still no results. SO frustrating. I'm also having some threatening labour pains and praying the results come in before I have to give birth alone. 58hrs so far...

Underactor · 06/10/2020 18:51

Ugh still no news on mine. We are +80 hours now.

JessieEssex · 06/10/2020 21:33

@icelollycraving

Oh no. What were her symptoms? Shock
She had a headache and temperature of 38.5 on Saturday which is really unlike her. Tested at 4pm Saturday and results at 1.45 this afternoon. Was completely gobsmacked by the results. She's 7
amelie427 · 06/10/2020 22:12

@underactor I think I read somewhere that you can chase results after 72 hours by calling 119

Underactor · 06/10/2020 22:55

Yeah we tried. You can't really. We spoke to someone who very politely told us we just had to wait or it may have been lost. But she didn't know which or have any way of checking. She said she'd chase it but admitted she didn't really think even her supervisors were capable of finding out what happened.

chocolatemonster · 07/10/2020 08:43

We are waiting too for DS. Comingbup 48 hours and he feels fine now. None of us can work and 3 of the 4 of us won't get paid. Apart from the economic impact it's a disaster for track and trace. And people are not going to bother testing when it takes this long and just go about their business. Absolute shambles.

ssd · 07/10/2020 08:46

Tests here in Glasgow are easy to get and results back the next morning.

MyNameForToday1980 · 07/10/2020 08:52

We did the postal test last Tuesday in London. Results took 50 hours (not that I was counting...the bloody seconds).

penpotted · 07/10/2020 09:25

I'm in a pickle - took a test last Monday 28th Sept due to Zoe invite. All clear so when cough started a couple of days later assumed no issues, I'd already had a negative test. Come Sunday 5 October thought I ought to get tested again to be sure.

49 hours here and starting to run low on milk, totally out of bread. No idea whether I should be warning the people I saw at the weekend or not.

chocolatemonster · 07/10/2020 09:44

@penpotted
How long did the one you took on the 28th take to come through? It's no wonder it's spreading as by the time they even get to track and trace days have gone past!!!
