Waiting for a test result is torture

No exaggeration.
It’s worse than waiting to hear from a job interview or For a text after a date.
I’m checking my email every minute to see whether any of us are allowed out the house tomorrow.
I’m so impatient!!!!!!

I agree with you, ours took over a week from ordering test, 4 days from actually taking test, it is a shambles.

tmh88 · 05/10/2020 15:47

My sister had a test last weekend took 3 and half days for results she went back to work Thursday I think. It was negative.

mygrandadsvest · 05/10/2020 16:18

@JessieEssex we also tested in Essex (Southend airport) on Saturday afternoon. We're at 50 hours post test now. Really hoping not to have another day off works tomorrow but hoping delay means not positive!

icelollycraving · 05/10/2020 16:42

The thing is, I’m fairly sure people will just go about their lives again if they all feel fine and are losing money etc from self isolating. I know early on everyone was very scared and compliant, I think now it seems to be full circle with friends who laughed at me in Feb/March with “it’s just a cold”

HomeFree55 · 05/10/2020 17:09

Glad I found this thread. Son was tested Saturday 10am and we haven't heard back yet it was starting to male me paranoid! Been isolating alone with 3 DC since Friday, could really do with an answer either way

Underactor · 05/10/2020 17:14

I have decided that I am definitely taking my DC for a walk tomorrow. We will go early and rurally to avoid people but I'm 90% certain it's negative and quite frankly I can't keep my kids locked up in my small house any longer.

thekaratekid · 05/10/2020 17:18

Waiting here too. Drive through test was at 13:00 on Sunday. Was really hoping I would have heard at around the 24 hour mark, but seems it could be tomorrow now. There were loads of free slots at my test centre. Makes you wonder whereabouts they ship them all to. There must be several large hubs where they run all the tests from multiple centres.

mygrandadsvest · 05/10/2020 17:19

Called 119 to chase drive thru test results which were taken 52 hours ago now. Just says high call volume and cuts off. Can't afford another day of both of us being off work tomorrow.

Underactor · 05/10/2020 17:42

Yeah 119 can't do anything! It appears once it's in the system you have to just wait. Doesn't seem that anyone can chase it up at all

HomeFree55 · 05/10/2020 17:49

Has any one here has results before? Is it possible they will come outside of working hours tonight?

JessieEssex · 05/10/2020 17:50

I know that people have had them at 10-11pm, not sure if they arrive through the night

Stansted airport here!

My husband got an email at 4am
lurker101 · 05/10/2020 18:12

@HomeFree55 I did one in July (invited by Zoe app) and got my negative email at 00.05 on a Sunday morning and got the text message 06.02am (I guess they send texts etc. At a more sociable hour?)

HomeFree55 · 05/10/2020 18:18

Just got results a moment ago (negative!). Tested Saturday morning at 10; 56 hour wait for us. Hoping everyone else's results start to ping through soon

thekaratekid · 05/10/2020 18:34

Just got mine too (negative!). 29.5 hour turnaround from the Stansted airport test centre. Maybe they release the results in batches. Hope other people's start filtering through soon.

lentilsforlunch · 05/10/2020 18:40

Got mine after 55 hours

Timepasses · 05/10/2020 18:51

2 weeks ago, we waited 72 hours for my sons results.

mygrandadsvest · 05/10/2020 18:59

Coming up to 55 hours. Now I feel as though I have symptoms but is probably just because I've not done anything for 3 days now!

FreshEggs · 05/10/2020 22:16

Waited 62 hours now, from when the lab received my postal test on Saturday morning. The not knowing is tricky as we had a lot on this week and I’m poised to cancel things. Just can’t relax. My symptoms have almost gone now.

mygrandadsvest · 06/10/2020 06:31

64 hours and looking Like another day off work that's £768 we haven't earned this month waiting for results.

mygrandadsvest · 06/10/2020 09:43

Am I the last one waiting? 67 hours post test now and no results received. Went for a drive through as thought it would be quicker but we had a home test (for DD2) 2 weeks ago that was quicker!

Two days of work for me and DH (unpaid) and two days off school for DD1 for what is probably an autumn cough because she walks to school and won't wear a sensible coat!

Just used our last tea bag too Angry

Bakewell79 · 06/10/2020 09:46

We have just this second received my sons result, negative and took just shy of 50 hours to come back and that was attending a drive through test centre in the SE.

I really hope you all hear back today Flowers

lurker101 · 06/10/2020 10:22

Waiting for a walk in test - 21 hours so far... really hoping it comes back soon (negative)

JessieEssex · 06/10/2020 10:27

@mygrandadsvest still waiting here too - 66 hours post test... and snap no teabags! Although have just messaged the MIL to pick some up. Tears from all of us this morning, particularly DD1 who is desperate to get back to school.
