Why does covid hate the East of England? Wrong answers only please.

Now before I start, I’m VERY VERY GLAD that we have incredibly low numbers of coronavirus cases here in the East of England, and long may it last.

But why oh why does coronavirus not flourish here? For the purposes of avoiding doom, I’m accepting wrong answers only.

  1. Whichever gene gives you webbed feet (necessary in the soggy fens) also protects against covid. (I’m a previous owner of webbed toes and remain covid free Grin )

  2. No airborne viruses can survive here as it’s so bloody windy all the time.

Any other (probably inaccurate) reasons?

It couldn’t pronounce any of the place names so it gave up trying to get to Wymondham, Happisburgh and Costessey. It was terrified of the testing station at Postwick so it tried to go back but took the wrong turning off the NDR.

Did not want to be suffocated in Suffolk. My late dh lived 36 years in Suffolk and reckoned he was still be suffocated!

phlebasconsidered · 03/10/2020 16:15

I heard yesterday of 4 cases in different schools in the fens so it is increasing, I think. Arse.

GreyWall · 03/10/2020 16:20

It doesn't not like it, it's creeping in... But not as much as it's more sparsely populated, less commuter mixing etc.

ElinoristhenewEnid · 03/10/2020 16:38

I am going to stand at the copdock interchange where a12 meets a14 with a placard saying 'b...... Off covid'. Cant take any chances!

Covid found Lowestoft is getting a third river crossing, couldn't work out how to navigate the two existing bridges, traffic lights and jams so cleared off.

Damnloginpopup · 03/10/2020 17:21

Maybe it's waiting for the third crossing. That'd be a result. Or perhaps it's stuck in a bridger (like I was at four today, outside Sam's so you can guess how long that took!)

MyShrivelledGnarlyFinger · 03/10/2020 17:34

Oh dear - again! Covid take note: don't go near the bridge.

SpringFan · 03/10/2020 18:54

Is the 3rd bridge in Lowestoft the same as the A120 and A12 upgradings? 40 years and counting??? Could be more, I have only been here 40 years and was promised an A12 upgrade was on the way soon, when I took the job........
Maybe that was an Essex soon.

It tried to visit March, but left after being pelted with onions.

Just read that where I live in Suffolk has the 6th lowest rate of infection in the UK (and it is a big town). The constant roadworks we all moan about have obviously done a good job!!

MrsMcGarry · 06/10/2020 11:59

James Palmer was put in charge of introducing it, He’s still in the middle of his second consultation on whether the metro that carries it to the region will be underground or in self driving pods.

MinnieMountain · 06/10/2020 16:20

It's got confused by all the straight lines and lack of landmarks.
