He did well. Sadly I know he’s right. Doesn’t make it any easier.

I am not a big fan of his and i rarely have anything positive to say about him but he is right. Regardless of what he has or hasn't done throughout this pandemic, this is where we are now, and we all need to take note and do what we need to do to in order to get this under control. I don't know about everyone else but i can't carry on like this for years to come so i'm willing to whatever needs to be done.

I'm pleased he addressed the reasons why locking away the vulnerable and elderly wont work. Also addressing those that are blatantly flouting the guidelines and laws . I thought it was a good speech, a warning and I hope those rule breakers do listen and stop to think.

I’m not a Tory, can’t bear what he and his cronies did re: Brexit but yes what he did today was correct.

And I wish people (anti-maskers, Covid-deniers) realised that to Get rid of this situation needs a concerted effort from everyone. If we all did all the sensible things (masks, distancing, self-isolation etc) then we wouldn’t need to government to put in rules and fines. But there are so many selfish arseholes, utter utter arseholes who think the rules don’t apply to them or it’s all about sheeple and the government trying to control us.

I think a lot of people were expecting everything he said to be rubbish, because it wasn’t going to be what they wanted to hear. It was never going to though, so 🤷🏼‍♀️

I liked the prod at the those who have caused the breaches and not obeyed the rules in a sort of ‘yes, we are aware of you morons’ way.

I do like the way he tries to rally us as he knows we’re wilting.

As I’ve said on the other thread, I’m concerned that he’s said he’s relying On the common sense of the population. I think we’re a bit fucked in that regard - lack of common sense is a key factor in how we got back to this point surely and, judging by some of the threads on here in the past few weeks, it’s really quite lacking in the population.

I agree. He said a lot of the things that needed to be said publicly.

At the end of everything that government says, does or not - it's on us to use common sense and have collective responsibility and stop trying to spite the government for not being perfect.

I agree. Can’t stand him or his party but what he said made sense, and hopefully will serve as a sobering reminder of our individual responsibility in ‘all this’.
Only last week a friend told me all the elderly need to stay home so the rest of us can live our lives.
When Boris is the one reminding us of our moral duty to protect one another you know people need a bug wake up call.
