Can't imagine Christmas without Fenwick's Window! I'm hoping they are still doing Santa on the Rooftop (and that I can get tickets before they sell out), went last year and it was really lovely. We also usually do The Snowman at The Sage which I'm keeping my fingers crossed they can do as they can control numbers/groups. Appreciate these things aren't important in the grand scheme but we look forward to them every year.

My DC primary school currently has two year groups isolating, it's a small school with just one intake per year. TBH I'm happy that they have now have at least a few weeks under their belts. Any guesses on whether they will extend the October half term?

CaptainWentworth · 24/09/2020 12:19

Many thanks for the shoe shop recs!

PickAChew · 24/09/2020 16:03

Just signed the consent form for ds2's flu immunisation that he'll refuse. Quick and simple spray up the nose, it said🤣🤣🤣

OakleyStreetisnotinChelsea · 24/09/2020 16:05

I've done the consent too for my Small and Middle. Middle is lucky, she's yr7 and the program expands each year to include her age group. I normally pay to get Big jabbed but I think it'll be tough getting hold of it this year.

PennyDreadfuI · 24/09/2020 16:14

Just come back from Aldi Fawdon, it was really quiet. The poor lady on the checkout was bleeding behind her ears from wearing her mask all day and it's only the first day she's done it she said.

They had figs for 39p so me and DH have just had a secret afternoon figfest which sounds rude but isn't. Meringues with whipped cream and loads of figs. Mmmmm.

Mine is in year 10 but entitled to it because he's in a special school.

We had the pupils need to wear masks in the corridors letter last week and that resulted in a bit of email to and fro with his teacher who knows him very well. Even though he is exempt due to his learning difficulties, we've just avoided taking him anywhere where that would be an issue, so far. Even though his presentation is far from subtle dealing with other people's reactions to him is tricky enough, sometimes, without adding his lack of face covering into the equation.

RedCatBlueCat · 24/09/2020 17:00

Tesco was where we got booked in for Flu jabs. Wouidnt get anything else to work. Wonder if they will cancel them between now and the 3 week appointments which were the soonest I could get?

Oakley did your Y7 flu stuff come through school the same way as in primary (assuming middle is at a seperate secondary!)? Had the stuff for primary, but nothing for my Y7 (yet!). Mind you, as an under 12, I dont think tesco et al will touch him. Also, is it nasal or needle, do you know?

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 24/09/2020 17:01

Anyone know what time slots in the North east are released? Ds left school with sore throat (fine) but has since developed a temperature. Had some Calpol and it's not doing anything. He says he is cold so is sofa surfing.

PennyDreadfuI · 24/09/2020 17:18

For future reference (though hopefully not required), does anyone know if postal tests are still a thing? We don't drive so getting to a test site would be impossible (almost as impossible as getting an appointment it would seem).

Latest cases for Newcastle in the last seven days just released. Looks like we're averaging about 100 new cases a day doesn't it (that we know about).

@BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz I was told to try at 10 and 2 for slots. I got kicked out the first time and the available slots went from 80ish to 40ish in the time it took me to put my details back in so I would be ready at 10 to try! My nearest centre is the one at byker, near asda and when we were there, I could hear a few walk-ins which were allowed. This was a few weeks ago mind.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 24/09/2020 17:29

Thanks. I'll try sporadically through the evening. It would be very handy if the Asda Byker was accepting walk ins.

Even the site now says "check again in a few hours " so they must know nothing is updating.

Shitfuckoh · 24/09/2020 17:49

My 3yo has had his flu nasal spray.
Signed consent forms for the other 2 as well.

Anyone know what County Durhams figures are like at the moment?

This isn't working for me at the moment but the map is and our MSOA has now flipped from grey to blue :( coronavirus.data.gov.uk/cases?areaType=ltla&areaName=County%20Durham
Shitfuckoh · 24/09/2020 18:00

@PickAChew
Oh no. Look at that darker blue moving in as well! Shock
The dashboard has issues today but I read somewhere cases are over 6600 and 40 Deaths

Snoringferret · 24/09/2020 18:22

Does anyone know why Shieldfield and Heaton Park has been so badly hit?
Was there an outbreak somewhere?

OakleyStreetisnotinChelsea · 24/09/2020 18:22

@RedCatBlueCat yes the consent for the yr7 came through school like the primary one did. It's still nasal spray. When I paid for the biggest to have it privately in year 7 because they were not yet covered by the immunisation program it was the jab. He had flu before though and remembers how ill he was so does happily have the jab.

NUFC69 · 24/09/2020 19:01

Checking in from Ponteland. Cases here seem very high, although I don't know of anybody who has got it. I had my flu jab today (over 60), it was booked in during August.

SabrinaTheTeenageBitch · 24/09/2020 19:05

Testing centre near my home was absolutely heaving this afternoon. Starting to wonder it Im doing the right thing sending kids to school

Im in Houghton le spring and just found out Houghton Feast has been cancelled this year. Its silly because I hate it generally (rowdy and costs a frigging small fortune Grin) but its just so alien that all these things we have never gave a second thought can't go ahead anymore. Its such a weird way of living

SabrinaTheTeenageBitch · 24/09/2020 19:12

@PennyDreadfuI We had a postal test about two weeks ago (turned out to be a normal back to school cold thankfully) Took ages to get results back though

I’ve heard the old General site in Fenham releases slots at 8pm.

juneybean · 24/09/2020 19:24

Chickentraybake · 24/09/2020 19:24

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 24/09/2020 19:31

6pm for South of the Tyne

That'll be why I can't even get on the site now. Been going since 6pm.

PickAChew · 24/09/2020 20:40

81 on Durham. Can't find the rate, though.

ScottishStottie · 24/09/2020 22:00

Can i join the thread please? Newcastle based and travel around hospitality sites in a consultancy role so pretty anxious about work long term atm.... So depressed about the situation. My parents are up in scotland so havent seen them in a long time, usually every month or so so noticing it now. Just generally a bit down about it all for the first time since march. Just feels theres no end in sight.
