swg1 ThanksThanksThanks
If you need a handhold or feel like a moan about anything big or small, we'll listen.

I think this is bringing up so much for people, it's really hard.

Snoringferret · 11/10/2020 21:08

How many weeks are you nosering?

I totally get the refreshing the news thing. I feel like I'm having to read between the lines of everything to work our what they mean. It's a really unfair thing to do to us all.

NoseringGirl · 11/10/2020 21:15

@Snoringferret I'm due in just over 4 weeks. Found put I was pregnant after a couple of years of trying for this baby just 3 weeks before lockdown so it's been a strange time! Definitely understand what you mean by trying to read between the lines. It's the mixed reports of whether we are or aren't going to be in tier 3 (whatever that even means) that's getting to me tonight!

@swg1 Thanks I'm glad you have someone supporting you and hope that can continue in person! The waiting for news is so hard.

Plussizejumpsuit · 11/10/2020 21:55

@swg1 sending good wishes. I agree its really hard. Hence my bursting in tears at cat wee today. I've really been avoiding news coverage this week I just can't engage. I've got a few things going on at work and I'm not feeling great so I just can't!

Sw I have on and off issues with anxiety and depression so I understand how hard things can be. And to everyone else feeling crap of struggling too.

Thiswillbeinteresting · 11/10/2020 22:24

@InTheLongGrass

The rumour down here is Teesside (Stockton, Boro, Darlo, Hartlepool & Redcar+Cleavland) will go to tier 2, which is a step up for those of us not in local lockdown, but actually a slight lessening of restrictions for Boro and Hartlepool.
I am desperately hoping we’re not tier 3, but think it’s only a matter of time Sad

Mainly lurking on the thread as I’m struggling quite a bit at the moment, but enjoying reading it - hugs to all that need them Flowers

Someaddedsugar · 11/10/2020 22:28

@Thiswillbeinteresting Thanks hope you're ok

Thiswillbeinteresting · 11/10/2020 22:38
@Thiswillbeinteresting Thanks hope you're ok
Thanks. I will be, just reality is biting hard (I know a few other pp on the thread have struggled this past week). DD1 just doesn’t want to leave her bedroom, and DD2 wants to be out with her friends - though she is good at understanding why. We have also lost a third of our monthly income due to losing jobs/benefits and while that happened in August, it is just starting to bite now Sad

PickAChew · 11/10/2020 22:52

I'd be bursting in tears at a cat wee, too, tbh. I've had the most underwhelming birthday ever and the teppenyaki lunch that I had a year ago seems a lifetime away. This year, it was reheated Dahl for lunch and a markses Chinese for dinner. My sister isn't the most reliable sender of cards, anyhow, but, this year, she was self isolating, waiting for test results.

My only consolation was discovering that P J Harvey is my amazing, sexy almost twin.

Unless schools close, our own lives aren't going to change much, whatever happens tomorrow, as we've already accroted that the likelihood of seeing my elderly parents again this year is almost nonexistent and we don't really have anyone to socialise eith but I still feel like we're all just waiting for bad news to land.

PickAChew · 11/10/2020 22:54

Accepted.

Dowser · 11/10/2020 23:09

Argh...just get me on that fucking plane on Saturday and I’ll be good for the rest of my life.

( like hell I will) 🤞

Schmoody · 12/10/2020 01:17

A'reet lasses! Another proud Geordie reporting for duty in being totally confused about what's allowed and what's not.

BessieSurtees · 12/10/2020 03:32

I'm sneaking away this morning before Boris announces the latest measures. Going to Yorkshire as the North West and Scotland seem out of bounds. Not going to do much other than walk, read and drink but I decided this weekend I need to get out of these four walls before I'm captive in them for another 6 months.

I wonder how relieved we will be if we are not tier 3. I feel I'm a pawn in a political competition.

@PennyDreadfuI hope your OK we're going to need a new thread soon.

Flowers to everyone struggling and Wine to those who need it.

Dowser · 12/10/2020 05:33

@BessieSurtees

Where in yorkshire are you going.
We’ve been at our caravan since Friday , we are north of york.
York was like a rugby scrum on Saturday despite

the rain, but nice to see plenty open
Helmsley yesterday was busy.
They have a lovely market on Friday if you’re in this area.

Shitfuckoh · 12/10/2020 06:51

@PickAChew

Wait!!

Back up!

Was it your BIRTHDAY?
& you didn't say?
& then you just randomly slipped it in there?!

Happy (belated) Birthday.
Was the Chinese good?

FrolickingLemon · 12/10/2020 07:03

Morning gang. Happy belated birthday PickAChew you really should have said. We could have showered you with Flowers and Cake and Wine

I cannot be arsed to get out of bed. It is cold and dark and there is another element of the unknown about today. Having said that, I console myself with these days usually ending with me saying "is that it?" ti whatever BJ spills from his gob.

Anyhoo, this isn't getting the cat fed or the packed lunch made. Good vibes to you all for today. We'll get through this!

Someaddedsugar · 12/10/2020 07:03

Happy belated birthday @PickAChew CakeGin

Someaddedsugar · 12/10/2020 07:07

@Thiswillbeinteresting is there anything in the new support package that might help you?

My grandma is still hanging on. I'm desperate not to be in tier 3 tomorrow as my parents have managed to arrange a visit (if she's still here) for me in the afternoon and I'm assuming tier 3 won't allow me to leave Co. Durham. But we'll just have to see...

PickAChew · 12/10/2020 07:38

Thanks guys. I had plenty of 🍷but no 🎂

Chinese was standard markses fare, jazzed up with some spring onion. Not exciting but a bloody sight better than the local Chinese.

Best get Ds2 packed off to school and take that walk onto town while I can be sure if doing it bare faced. At least Gregg's are now stocking ds1's regulation sandwich again so I don't have to set foot in tesceurgh.

PennyDreadfuI · 12/10/2020 07:47

Good morning! Or not m, given that a) it's a Monday and b) we all know (or have some vague idea) what's coming later today.

Sorry I've been MIA - I really needed to step away from the internet for a few days. Nothing at all against you lovelies here, in fact this thread is one of the few internet bright spots at the moment. Just the constant worry and soon and gloom elsewhere was all getting a bit much. I've even tried to avoid news stuff (easier said than done). But today I must pull my head out of my backside because I need to know what exactly is happening re this lockdown bollocks. DH said that he saw reported yesterday that Tier 3 would have the no households mixing in any setting thing, but in Tier 2 it said you'd be able to mix outdoors with your bubble. The fact that bubble was mentioned for T2 and no mention in T3 seems to confirm our bubble concerns doesn't it. Ugh. We shall see, fingers crossed.

@PickAChew happy belated birthday! When All This is finally over I propose a NE support thread meet up to celebrate all the lockdown birthdays that will have happened by then. For now we shall drink to you virtual however (coffee at this time of the morning but I could probably do with something stronger if I'm honest).

@swg1 I'm so sorry you're having such a bad time if it. It's utter balls isn't it. We're here though Flowers

I have to try to get a dentist appointment this morning. Mine was still only doing emergencies up until a few weeks ago but over the weekend a temporary filling has fallen out of a tooth that broke in half ages ago (I was going to the students at the dental hospital and they've been patching it up with temporary fillings for ages). I've already had two emergency appointments over lockdown and lost a tooth which could have been saved if they could have filled it. Unfortunately I think this is another I shall be parting company with. My teeth are utter bastards.

I shall get a new thread up and running so we have somewhere to escape to when the new rules kick in 💙

@PickAChew
Is your DS1 limit with his foods too? I tried to do a meal plan, taking allergies for my youngest in to account it was all easy, if I take DS1 out of it! I did one with his as a bracket and he only eats 3 things the same as the others, spag bol, pizza, nuggets Confused
Doesn't sound too bad does it? But the nuggets have to be a certain ones, so do the chips to go with it. He won't eat any other pizza apart from the most basic cheese one!

Shitfuckoh · 12/10/2020 07:53

@PennyDreadfuI
I don't blame you for needing to step away for a while, we all have moments like that. Not as bad for me as the DC keep me busy & I'm lucky if I can watch the news - so tend to read about it when I can instead!
I can relate to the dentist issue, I was given antibiotics twice by my dentist for a tooth infection.

I've had a painful shoulder & neck for a few days now. Shoulder isn't as bad but the neck as been dreadful this weekend. I'm assuming I've laid on it / pulled it or something but I wake up hoping it'll be better!
Well my eldest is awaiting going to school, then I need to get the other 2 ready & dropped off. Then I would like to get some sort of order to the house after the madness of the weekend.

Thiswillbeinteresting · 12/10/2020 07:58

@Someaddedsugar sending much love your way to you and your family, it must be excruciating at the moment Sad Apart from the increase in Universal Credit (which is then deducted at source to clear the rent arrears that happened when I was first put on UC...) there is nothing available. I’ll manage though, it just means some intense budgeting, which tbh isn’t really a bad thing Grin

@PennyDreadfuI I think I feel similar at the moment. Almost scared to watch the news in case there’s something else changed. Having a DD with ASD who thrives on routine means the constant changing is just exhausting trying to help her deal with it all.

PennyDreadfuI · 12/10/2020 08:00

@Shitfuckoh thank you! It really does feel like a return to some sort of basic Victorian dentistry doesn't it, albeit with antibiotics and anaesthesia. But all they can do is yank teeth out, no crowns or fillings or root canal stuff. Still at least when I've been there's no waiting and it's all done very quickly - they only have one patient at a time in the surgery.

Hope your shoulder/neck feels better soon - have you tried ibuprofen gel? I have rheumatoid arthritis and sometimes it really helps when my joints go bananas. Hot water bottles and ice packs alternated might be worth a go too. Failing that, codeine. Fucktons of codeine. At the very least you'll feel all floaty and lovely and the pain will seem like it's miles away!

PennyDreadfuI · 12/10/2020 08:06

@Thiswillbeinteresting it must be extra difficult for you and your DD given that at the moment routine seems like a distant memory Flowers The trouble is the news is everywhere at the moment, you can't even listen to the radio between news bulletins because there's constant announcements about distancing and testing and whatnot. Even a relaxing walk or trip to the shops is a reminder. And forget the pub (possibly literally, after today's announcement).

Me and DH were contemplating the prospect of Christmas with no pubs yesterday. What a bonkers notion. Annoyingly we barely went out last Christmas because DH was ill - if we'd have known what was coming we'd have crawled to the pub/restaurants/theatres if we'd had to! I see that the Theatre Royal is doing a socially distanced panto though. Bet the tickets will be expensive and they'll sell out in seconds!

DD's grotto induction day on the 15th is still going ahead but I suppose that could change after today. I'll keep you all posted.
