@Quietheart

I am sure you did not mean to imply that people with extreme mental health problems are undesirable did you PickAChew?

Even the bus station undesirables who pass through where i live from their lodgings have been trying hard with masks etc, despite their often quite extreme mental health issues.

Not at all, but we do have a lot of issues in that area with large crowds of people, often drunk or stoned, at any time of day, often arguing, often fighting. Many of those clearly do have mental health issues which are a big factor in their inability to lead an orderly life. They are a subset of people with mental health issues as are the people in my own family who have mental health issues. It's helpful if you read what I said in context.

Right. I've got my finger out and sent a letter to my MP about the need for support bubbles and the fear they'll throw us into tier 3 and not take us out again. It may not have any effect but I'll be damned if I'll let them do this without having names and faces to the people they're affecting.

I'm going to do the same today.

Has anything more been said anywhere re who will or won't be in the tier 3 areas?

I saw something but can't remember where I saw it that said Leicester, Manchester and Newcastle but not sure whether that actually meant the collective 'North' and they couldn't remember where else was in the north when writing...

Someaddedsugar · 11/10/2020 10:43

Re Durham bus station and those that frequent the area - I really wish DCC would do something about the situation. I went to drop DS off at nursery on Monday last week and the nursery is just behind the bus station. I opted to walk some of the way as wasn't sure where the diversions would be in place and on the small road up to the car park and entrance was all kinds of drugs paraphernalia- metal straws, lighters, empty tiny plastic bags... So sad yet so dangerous where small children might get their hands on it

alseb · 11/10/2020 13:15

I’m also in Newcastle. My understanding was the, “restrictions” we are living under at the moment would be reviewed every two weeks. After three weeks now we haven’t been told that they have been reviewed for each area and won’t continue or will continue for X more weeks. It’s just rolling on. My fear of this three tier traffic light system is that the, “North” will be put in the red zone and just forgotten about and left.

Plussizejumpsuit · 11/10/2020 13:48

@Snoringferret

My husband just came back from the shop with no crisps for me because they didn't have the exact type I asked for and I quote 'we have Pom bears in the house' He bought chocolate for himself and nothing for me!!

Should I ltb???

Ltb.

Or give a list of several options in future if he does it again Ltb. Why do men do this?!

swg1 · 11/10/2020 14:12

@alseb That's my fear also. Throw us into lockdown and forget us.

Plussizejumpsuit · 11/10/2020 14:49

@FrolickingLemon I also love crisps! Actually not just potato crisps I just love crispy stuff so popcorn, pretzels, crackers I'm there for it all.

Just had a meltdown and a cry I've some cat wee. We've got a problem with a stranger cat or one of our two weeing on my office /studio. It's off the kitchen but just an open double doorway do can't just close the door. We live in a 3 storey terrace so it's smallish but gas 3 floors. Anyway I'm feeling like shit on another round of antibiotics for my sinuses. Muster a bit of energy to do a final bit of sorting out in the room and I come down to loads of cat piss.

My note book I use for everything both work and personal (I'm freelance) on the floor fallen from my desk into the cat wee. So it just broke me!

This really isn't relevant to much just thought I'd share an example of the stupid stuff which now feels too much because of covid.

I'm now lying on the sofa and I'm not sure I'll be moving much for the rest of the day. Hope everyone is managing to keep it together! Grin

Plussizejumpsuit · 11/10/2020 14:49

Oh the notebook was a lovely orla kiely one too.

InTheLongGrass · 11/10/2020 14:52

The rumour down here is Teesside (Stockton, Boro, Darlo, Hartlepool & Redcar+Cleavland) will go to tier 2, which is a step up for those of us not in local lockdown, but actually a slight lessening of restrictions for Boro and Hartlepool.

FrolickingLemon · 11/10/2020 15:05

@Plussizejumpsuit that's so shit Flowers
Is there anything you can put out to deter the buggers? (My lad is an indoor cat so nor sure, but there's always talk on my Next door app of folk trying different things)

You need to put a nice new Orla Kiely notebook on your Chriatmas list. Hopefully Santa will bring you a beautiful one.

TheSilveryPussycat · 11/10/2020 15:15

I would cry if my notebook just got wet, never mind in cat pee Sad BrewBrew

Try putting orange peel down where they are pissing.

Someaddedsugar · 11/10/2020 15:25

I've just been told by DP that he's read something that suggested tier 3 might even have different levels depending on where you are - I really hope that isn't the case as I don't think I could cope with even more confusing rules!

Shitfuckoh · 11/10/2020 15:27

I thought the whole point of the 3 tiers was to make it easier for people to understand? Surely there couldn't be 3 levels for each tier? Confused

Plussizejumpsuit · 11/10/2020 15:43

Well we got a cat flap for the first time in this house as we'd always rented before so it wasn't our door to go chopping a big hole in! We've been here nearly 3 years and we had an issue early on but it got better. Then got much worse we've now locked the cat flap coming on but it's not 100% going to buy a micro chip activated one.. And look into what I can do to deter.

I'm now watching brokeback mountain on amazon prime with snacks. Just at the time it was one of those burst into tears moments!

I'm going to put some disposable gloves on and take pics of what I need in the note book later. Urgh! There is much worse stuff happening so I've got a grip now.

I've heard citrus smells put them off. But I'm also wondering if it's one of mine doing it from anxiety? I'm happy paying for the vet and we have good insurance. Just getting th in the bloody carrier! Omg you'd think I was trying to put them in a pot of lava!

Someaddedsugar · 11/10/2020 15:46

@Shitfuckoh

That was exactly what we said afterwards!
Shitfuckoh · 11/10/2020 16:25

@Plussizejumpsuit
Ah what a nightmare! If you can block any others getting in, at least you'll find out if it is one of yours doing it - unless the other cat(s) set off your cats anxiety?

@Someaddedsugar
It makes no sense at all does it?! DC dad is 'waiting' to see what the announcement is tomorrow before he's 'willing' to discuss when he'll be seeing them. Apparently he can't go ''weeks and weeks'' before seeing them - anyone would think it was my idea wouldn't they!

Someaddedsugar · 11/10/2020 17:14

@Shitfuckoh - you'd think you'd planned a pandemic intentionally!

It just seems crazy. And again it really irritates me that they must have some idea of what's happening as depending on what you read the 'northern leaders' have all been told something about what's happening and so I don't see why they couldn't have just started the new restrictions on Friday to avoid the predictable nights out this weekend.

I'm also getting a bit sick of the generic 'north' that keeps being used. Even on a north east level it was at one point so varied - I appreciate that's not the case right now though.

FrolickingLemon · 11/10/2020 19:30

@swg1 are you ok? Do you have any support in real life or any mechanisms you can put in place. Snoringferret suggested earlier that maybe we could do zoom / whatsapp calls with each other if we were struggling. Would this help? I'd be happy to 'buddy up' no problem. Or PM me if it gets too lonely. You don't have to be alone in this.

NUFC69 · 11/10/2020 19:45

Such kindness on this thread!

My DH has just been reading out some figures from PHE which are on the Chronicle website - the difference between the number of cases in parts of Newcastle is quite startling.

NoseringGirl · 11/10/2020 19:51

Can I join in on this thread please? I'm in North Tyneside, am really quite pregnant and this whole thing is very stressful! I'm refreshing all sorts of news all the time to see what's going to happen to us next!

Honestly, I'm struggling a bit. This is the roughest bit for me. Brings back too many cancer memories of the pause between diagnosis and chemo where you know that come Monday things won't be the same again so your job now is to do all the things you're about to lose. Tremendously anxiety provoking because anything I don't get done now is potentially off the list for a long time. (Last lockdown I waited an extra day to go to the library and then cursed myself for months).

Chances are once it hits I'll have a big cry for a day or so and then buckle down and cope. Bubble friend will be there even if she's not allowed to be here. But this bit just really sucks.

FrolickingLemon · 11/10/2020 20:25

@swg1 definitely PM me. I know that feeling. If I don't reply tonight, I will in the morning, I promise x

Someaddedsugar · 11/10/2020 20:59

@swg1 Thanks hope you're ok.

Someaddedsugar · 11/10/2020 21:01

@NoseringGirl I imagine it's very stressful for you right now. Hope you're ok too.
