What are the chances ? Sky News are reporting the possibility and a second lockdown has become a reality in Israel.

How likely do you think it is ?

What happens if people don’t consent to it? People felt differently back in March.

@QueenPaws And yet ive seen posts on here insisting the non compliance is in poorer areas.

Oh Christ I can’t bear endless threads on here of people describing themselves as “key workers” again every 5 mins instead of saying they work in Aldi/are a nurse/a cleaner in a hospital. Feels like only 2 mins since that twattery ended

But surely these people are keyworkers
It’s such a fucking annoying way to describe yourself and means nothing. Just say what your job is ffs

RingORingORoses · 13/09/2020 23:38

@TheDragQueen.

But what’s to be gained from ‘scaremongering’?

rubbishatballet · 13/09/2020 23:39

@HippyHappygal

The vaccine will not be ready next month and rolled out. Not sure where you have heard that
It may not, but that is absolutely the date (and there is a specific date in Oct) the NHS have been told to plan for, including major capital spends and logistical and workforce planning happening right now across the country. I know this for sure. Agreed, nothing in the media about it that I've seen, and to be honest I'm amazed nothing seems to have leaked yet. No idea which vaccine it is.
MadameBlobby · 13/09/2020 23:39

The reality is that by November if we aren’t in a lockdown the situation will be catastrophically dire beyond our wildest imagination

Jesus wept.

Thing is we have heard it all before. It’s going to be harder to make people swallow it next time.

TheDragQueen · 13/09/2020 23:40

Is this like when everyone in Facebook insisted the tanks were rolling in?

GabsAlot · 13/09/2020 23:40

cant see a full lockdown maybe resturants and pubs and entertainment but not a complete one no

RingORingORoses · 13/09/2020 23:40

@blue25 what’s your line of work?

HeIenaDove · 13/09/2020 23:43

Better hold off on the Christmas shop then.

AlecTrevelyan006 · 13/09/2020 23:45

Furlough is ending therefore there will not be another national lockdown

TheDragQueen · 13/09/2020 23:46
@blue25 what’s your line of work?
Clearly not pubs and restaurants 😂

RingORingORoses · 13/09/2020 23:47

Furlough for regional lockdown....how would that work?

Justaboy · 13/09/2020 23:47

Bloody hell!! Aliens have landed in Watford high steet so it says on our local farcebook!!!!

tobee · 13/09/2020 23:49

@herecomesthsun

..or only a minority that has to shield

Yeah fuck those fuckers, eh? They are all living on their own, don't have jobs, don't need money, aged 112 and practically dead anyway!

RingORingORoses · 13/09/2020 23:50

@justabou have they brought the vaccine and are they wearing masks!?

Ecosse · 13/09/2020 23:51

@tobee

No one is saying that the shielded should be abandoned.

IMO they should be supported and financed to stay at home in order to allow the rest of us to keep working to avoid crashing the economy we need to fund the NHS.

Aridane · 13/09/2020 23:52

What a fucking patronising post (says a non key worker who Salutes the retails workers, hospital cleaners etc)

pontypridd · 13/09/2020 23:54

so, the cases numbers have been rising for more than two months but all other important numbers have fallen. And some people want another lockdown?

@AlecTrevelyan006 - that is all very reassuring. I hope you are right. I fear you may not be though.

Cases are rising - but haven't had the weeks to become serious enough for hospital/death yet ... this takes time.

In the example you gave for 7th July cases were falling due to Lockdown. Hospital and death figures were still high from previous weeks of high infection levels.

I'm not saying they are @Ecosse. I just get sick of people just trotting out this so blithely. Most people do not have a clue.

Ellsbells12 · 13/09/2020 23:57

Won't be one if there is there will be nothing to come out too

Aridane · 13/09/2020 23:57

So many scientists, economists and fortune tellers all in one place. 😜

Indeed!

Ecosse · 14/09/2020 00:01

@pontypridd

The typical lag between infection and hospitalisation is 2 weeks, and 3 weeks to death.

The key point is that cases have been rising for 10 weeks now, yet both deaths and hospitalisations have fallen significantly in that 10 weeks.

Defenbaker · 14/09/2020 00:01

Case numbers are rising but the mortality rate is not. Perhaps that is because many older/vulnerable people succumbed back in the first wave, and care homes have taken measures since then to reduce the spread of the virus.

I think a second wave is unavoidable, considering that kids are back in school and many may be unwittingly spreading the virus, while having very mild symptoms. I've also noticed lots of teenagers ignoring SD rules and not wearing masks - they think they're invincible and are often too wrapped up with their phones to notice that they're too close to other people.

I think that once the death toll starts to rise sharply again and the hospitals reach crisis point the government will have to do another lockdown, of sorts. Either that, or let the virus run its course, but with an estimated kill rate of 0.5% (which could easily double or triple if hospitals have to turn patients away) I don't think any responsible govt would let that happen. I don't envy the people who have to make these decisions, talk about a poisoned chalice.
