To enforce social distancing.

No doubt they will find many volunteers on Mumsnet!

Madame Blobby,

I wish I could be arsed doing the faffing around for the emojis and grins and so on, but I can't be bothered so your posts did make me laugh just the same.

DianasLasso · 10/09/2020 21:19

@RedToothBrush Nope its a dead cat.

Yes, that's about right.

MarshaBradyo · 10/09/2020 21:26

Tbh there are a fair few dead cats around these days. Used quite a lot but no funding

Domino20 · 10/09/2020 21:28

@LizzieSiddal

Well if people are breaking the laws, then Marshall’s should be knocking in their door.

If everyone just followed the rules- wash your hands and most importantly keep 2 metres away from everyone, the virus would die out pretty quickly. It’s people’s (Mostly young people) inability to do this which is causing these new rules.

Please do share your research sources for this claim.
Helen1990 · 10/09/2020 21:33

msgreen · 10/09/2020 21:34

Get Marshall’s now Lots and Lots
No one gives a shit about others so the more fines and Marshall’s the better
Let’s just grow up and work on getting rid of this and stop moaning FFS

Marshall have no legal powers what so ever. Even the police are baffled as to what use they will be. They certainly won't be issuing fines nor arresting anyone.
Devlesko · 10/09/2020 21:59

Considering students are signing up for this, who have absolutely no power legally, I'm not too worried. Grin
It's a bloody joke now, and yet people are still swallowing the propaganda and falling for government control.
Say anything though and you are some sort of conspiracist.

Marshals will have no powers but will cost cash strapped local councils a small fortune. How precisely do you think they'll get rid of the virus? Do they have magic powers rather than legal ones?

Can anyone please signpost me to the appropriate places to speak to like minded people who are concerned about the terrifying erosion of civil liberties in the context of covid. I have read of a demonstration at holyrood today but finding very little online about who is organising the protests etc. Thankyou in advance x

PennyDreadfuI · 10/09/2020 22:06

I read something about this today. 10pm or 11pm curfews, it suggested. My immediate thought was it'd never happen but over the last six months I've learned that anything can happen, and often does!

This is a petition by Liberty to repeal the Coronavirus Act, worth signing up and keeping an eye on what they are doing.

I haven't seen any posts saying milk isn't essential

I certainly have. But my personal favourite was the poster who said that bread wasn't essential and nobody needed to buy it - just buy Ryvita instead, then you wouldn't need to go to the shop so often.

I was pilloried because I had to go to the supermarket three times a week - I don't drive, I have mobility issues so can't carry a lot of shopping on each outing, and I couldn't get a supermarket delivery slot. I was told I was selfish and putting others at risk. And let's not forget the people who thought chucking hairdye or Easter eggs in you're trolley was akin to murder.

I'm not a Covid denier but neither am I the Covid police. Most people fall into a middle ground where we've adhered to the rules, but by the same token we don't make them up or interpret them as we fancy.

Sorry, read this, the one about 'not having seen anyone suggest that buying milk isn't 'essential' '....And felt the need to correct an incorrect assumption.

That was absolutely 100% true.

There were posters on MN loudly asserting just that; that milk wasn't an 'essential', thus the prospective buyer was more or less a murderer for leaving her house to buy it.

Fact. That happened. On here.

Mitzimccormack · 10/09/2020 23:11

Some of the unpleasant people on here blaming ‘the young’ should try casting their minds back to how they behaved when they were young, and how they would have felt being caged up for months in end, no school, no friends, no social life at all because of a disease which actually is less dangerous to you than any other childhood disease.

honeybee88 · 10/09/2020 23:35

@sorcery ...close contact spread all viruses. Have you noticed that hand sanitiser only kill 99.9% bacteria? No mention of viruses. 😳.

Helen1990 · 10/09/2020 23:59

It's becoming more and more like a dictatorship now people are not going to stand for this much longer surely there are not going to be enough people to enforce this.

There were plenty including the fabulous "Milk isnt essential in coffee use cheese instead" !!!
Nothing was apparently essential. You weren't supposed to leave the house for any reason. Just starve to death or get those jolly NMW sorts to do your shopping for you and deliver it as they obviously don't need to stay home or distsnce from each other.
Fecking hypocrisy at its best.

Oh, thanks, Miljea. I must have missed that one thread. However there have been plenty of threads asserting that vulnerable and elderly people should shut themselves away - or they should sacrifice themselves for the greater good - while everybody else gets on with things because children and/adults have sacrificed enough. Doesn't that sound vile to you?

Fact. That happened. On here.
