Predicted 2nd wave

Pixxie7 · 04/08/2020 06:42

So they are predicting a 2nd wave twice as big as the first at the beginning of December if the track and trace system isn’t improved. Do you think the government has learnt anything?

Fuck knows what they are doing or planning

Oysterbabe · 04/08/2020 06:48

Who are they? Do you have a link?

Thepilotlightsgoneout · 04/08/2020 06:48

Who’s ‘they’? Every day there’s a so-called expert predicting or suggesting something different.

Just follow the rules and get on with your life, otherwise it’s just constant worry about things you can’t control.

Mulberry974 · 04/08/2020 06:49

All this talk of a 2nd wave is all guesswork by people who haven't noticed we are all still in the first wave.

AgnesNaismith · 04/08/2020 06:50

Urgh

Hyperfish101 · 04/08/2020 06:52

It’s very true that a different ‘expert’ is making a prediction every day. And the media reporting doesn’t help.

No idea about a second wave but it’s clear the virus will be around for a while but we will just have to get on with it.

TheQueef · 04/08/2020 06:52

Barry and Paul in the nags?

Wecandothis99 · 04/08/2020 06:53

I'm bored of these (not you, I mean predictions) so cannot give any of them a second thought as they're all different and quite frankly damaging!!

Pixxie7 · 04/08/2020 06:54

ITV news this morning, It’s come from a computer prediction from one of the university’s.

Knew my link wouldn't work 🤦‍♀️

TwilightPeace · 04/08/2020 06:56

The second wave will begin as soon as the kids go back to school and escalate from there..
Not scare-mongering. Just a fact.

Nothing solid has been put in place to minimise the spread and there is no vaccine.

boredboredboredboredbored · 04/08/2020 06:56

Testing and tracing 'key to schools returning', scientists say https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-53638083

I'll try again!

RandomTree · 04/08/2020 06:57

It's still just guesswork OP, even if it's come from university research. All computer models are based on data, and as this is a new virus we don't have enough data to make accurate predictions. It may turn out to be correct, it may not. I'm no fan of this government but I do think they're doing a difficult job here.

Littlecaf · 04/08/2020 06:59

@TwilightPeace
Fact based on what? Stop scaremongering. It’s ridiculous.

TwilightPeace · 04/08/2020 07:01

Lots of bodies crammed into one room for hours at a time? No PPE or social distancing? Only an idiot would think the virus won’t spread rapidly in those conditions.

Bluntness100 · 04/08/2020 07:03

That doesn’t really work though does it, it is predicted based on specific parameters, and doesn’t take into account things like treatments, vaccines, local lock downs, etc etc, in addition if those vulnerable socially distance and wear ppe then the risk is reduced in terms of hospitalisations and serious cases.

So it’s all just a bit scare mongering taken out of context. There are also studies which show there will be no second wave as such. It’s basically pick your poison.

StealthPolarBear · 04/08/2020 07:08

We had a predicted second wave following the ve day parties, then following the beach pictures in May, then following the BLM protests.
I'm sure it will happen but the predictions so far have not been accurate.

Pixxie7 · 04/08/2020 07:09

Bluntness100@ fair points, i just find the silence from the government worrying.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 04/08/2020 07:10

The virus didn’t go away so how is this a second “wave”?

Hearhoovesthinkzebras · 04/08/2020 07:11

Well, currently we don't have a vaccine, the treatment that we have only works in a minority of severe cases (better than nothing but it's not a cure all). As for the vulnerable socially distancing (how?) and wearing PPE (what? There's no PPE that an individual can wear to protect themselves other than N95 masks which we can't get and would need to be correctly fitted anyway)

Dontforgetyourbrolly · 04/08/2020 07:12

It's not a second " wave" . The transmission just got paused when everyone stayed at home.
Hmm
Why don't we all stay at home forever, that sounds great .

Silvercatowner · 04/08/2020 07:16

If you have to do this scaremongering hysterical bollocks then PLEASE put it in the Coronavirus topic.

midgebabe · 04/08/2020 07:20

Yes it's just a model ,all. Models are wrong but good models still reflect th truth well enough that they are meaningful and useful

No model or prediction has so far said that our current situation is good enough to allow schools opening without a second peak of deaths
